Blooming Flower
Year 3
“Kami Guardian Special Forces Initiation, The Missing Ship, and Nam’s Test!”
A hooded figure is walking through the windy Yunzabit Heights and stops to observe an odd plant placing his gloved hand over it.
Right now, she was the plant, which Nam was touching. Her hair, which had many flowers in it now due to her maturing, was sticking out of the ground and whatever it was happened to touch one of the red roses near the top of her head. She could feel the strange thing yank at it slightly and remembered when she had returned to Amazonica to get a better space ship and more training. It was much better than compared to here. The thing above her and the other humans she had run into earlier were quite mean on this planet. She had only come to realize a few customs about Earth and one of the things that she noticed were that people were afraid and rather rude to aliens a lot, unless they personally knew them.
This had happened to her not too long ago, as she landed in Central City. A strange mob of anti-alien supporters, which she had not heard of appeared before her in front of a TV Store where she landed. They started throwing rocks and stuff at her, whom she easily blocked and crushed, but at the same time, they were shouting for her to leave or die she looked behind her and noticed twenty TVs broadcasting messages from Geurin. It was he speaking on re-runs about wanting to get rid of aliens, but he himself clearly looked like one, so how did this work out?
She pondered this as she punched her way through the mob of people and used her power to carve a tunnel in the ground. With that, she buried herself enough to expose the flowers on the top of her head and hid her energy; just enough to appear like a flower. She spent many hours there before using her feet and hands to dig through the rock below her and headed north.
This is how she got to Yunzabit Heights and was now having her head pulled on. The sad thing was that she left her ship behind on the city streets. It was bad and she needed to get it back since she was underground and literally had little idea where she was, at the time, Nam, the strange thing above her, had come across her.
The hooded man continues to stroke on the odd and interesting flower.
Maruca felt an odd sensation above her. It felt like it might just be the wind blowing over top her head. Yet the movement was feeling on top of her head was excessively soft and gentle. Her body cringed as she thought about what could be up there, and so she simply decided rather than face the debasement she decided to pop up from under the ground.
Using all her strength, she used her Seraph's Shield to push out the rock and rubble around her and as this slowly moved aside cracks began to appear in the ground where the strange thing was standing. The shield pushed out further and further causing a small pink bump, from the top of the shield to appear over top of her head. She hoped that whatever was touching her would either go away at this point, or wait for a coming whooping.
The hooded man moved back and watched as the flower now covered by a pink bump on the ground sat there. He chuckled. "You know I can sense you, right?"
Hearing the voice of someone above her, she blasted the rock around her apart and floated up to the surface. "I don't know who you are,” she voiced, "But your voice sounds like someone else I've just met a year ago. Some weird masked fighter beat me up in a tournament, but I should let you know I'm not weak, so don't go think you want to attack me."
Maruca hated to be pushy, yet ever since she had come back to life, the beautiful Earth she had come to know only a little bit had changed. The people, she had not really met on this planet, though they all seemed just about as bossy and power hungry as her so she needed to push back in order to keep them off she felt. Her eyes glared at Nam, yet softened towards him. He had been chuckling at her, but not in a bad way. So was he an exception?
The hooded man stepped back and waved his hands in front of him. "Calm down, I'm the one you speak of... and that was two years ago."
Maruca listened to his words, but was not feeling much better by them, especially when he admitted who he was. She pulled back her left fist and sent a punch towards his open nose. He would get what he deserved. As she sent the punch towards him she cried, "Do you know what you nearly did to my arms!" she cried. She remembered the pain that he had caused them when her own thorns had stabbed through them and gouged holes into them. It had not been fun. However, she had walked off that battlefield pretending not to feel pain because that he would laugh at her or seem far too weak in terms of Earth's strongest warriors. For this reason, she had left quickly in order to not because more trouble for herself or for others.
The hooded man, seemingly unfazed, caught the punch before it hit with his right hand. "I'm sorry if I hurt you," he said.
She used all of her strength to push her punch through, but the person only seemed to continue to hold her fist. Had she heard an apology though? She decided to make him feel even worse for his actions and let him know the truth about her, "You know... I'm a rather weak queen in terms of power, but you still injured someone of royal background."
The hooded man took a moment of silence before he answered. "Why did you join the tournament if you were afraid to get injured?"
Maruca pulled her fist back and said, "I'm not afraid to get injured. I never said that. I said that you injured an important person." Maruca then pointed at herself with her thumb, "Me, anyway, I joined the tournament since I had just gotten out of limbo with some pink, fat creature Heiwa. He is a mighty Kaioshin that deserves respect, but I doubt you would give him that respect and call him what I just said which is "a pink, fat creature". He taught me a good deal how to fight last year and I just wanted to stretch my limbs again since I felt rather cranky after coming back to life."
She cracked her knuckles and flexed a muscle on her forearm. It did not really move much though. "So do you believe I am a real fighter or what? You are here making accusations of me kind of and yet you are not willing to ask if I would be willing to back up my pride, put it on the line, and beat your sorry butt for making it seem like I am weak. I was killed in a stray energy blast you know, so I really do not like fighters like you, but I had to fight you because the tournament rules said I would not get to fight more if I didn't beat more and more people along the way."
"Does this mean you had no interest in becoming Commander of Geurin's organization?" he asked, a sign of relief was clear from his words. "I have no need to 'test' you, I've already fought you."
"Commander who?" Maruca asked as she pouted. "I've never heard of a Commander Gherkin before, but why would you and whoever else is with you want to fight a pickle? Cucumbers are the sweetest things and there's no reason to fight such nice vegetables."
This person was starting to get on her nerves like people she had recently met too. He was openly saying he was fighting cucumbers. Cucumbers Maruca knew were a type of plant. So then, how exactly did he threaten them and why? In addition, what was in it for him and his group? Threatening cucumbers was surely an act of war was it not. After all, all plants in the universe had the potential of being part of the small Florian kingdom that Maruca controlled. The problem was had she misheard this person or not because if she had then he would be talking about something different, way different from her.
"Um," she voiced nicely, "You wouldn't be attacking and eating cucumbers would you? That is because if you were, I would have to beat you senseless. If you are not then you should tell me who this Gherkin person is. Also, please do not test me... I might just win this time."
The hooded man remained silent for what almost seemed like a full minute and then lowered his concealed face into his palms as he realized the woman did not understand.
"What was your name again? It was Maruca, right?" He confirmed. "Listen... Geurin is an evil man -but he hides behinds his lies and is now preparing an organization to rage war against alien races. He is the one who put together that tournament we fought in two years ago. The winner of that tournament would become Commander of his organization..." he took a moment for her to absorb the information and then continued.
"I joined the tournament with the intention of winning, but not become his commander. I wanted to show the world that there was at least one person against his reign, and I succeeded."
She sighed as she took in the information he provided her with and put her hands on her hips. "I hate to say this to you, but that makes no sense to me. Why would you join a tournament to become this person’s subordinate? If he is as powerful as you said he was then you should clearly denote from your own explanation of your reasons for joining the tourney why that was near suicide. For one thing, if you entered the tournament there was a high chance he already knew who you were, since I doubt if you are as powerful as I think you might be, there is only a small group of people on this planet who can have your energy levels and notice. I noticed it though a little when you fought me that you seemed to be really holding back I think. I lasted not more than five minutes, but I can sense those kinds of things with my ki sensing abilities."
Maruca tapped her forehead and continued with, "Secondly, if you had actually won, well, you'd be his subordinate, but there would be no way to assassinate him if you think about it. He's got everyone in his organization under his command meaning you would have to kill him by yourself undercover, which would be impossible since that's x number of people against you. Third, based on that I believe you might be asking something of me that you wish me to do for you. I am not sure I can join you in whatever you wish me to do. I do not have the time. I have to get my space ship back and leave this silly rock. I only landed here, um, two years ago because I wanted to make a colony for my people. Now that chance is gone."
The hooded man shook his head. "You misunderstand. My goal was not to infiltrate. That is impossible. My goal was to create awareness. The people of earth follow Geurin because of his lies, because of ignorance. -You are right, he 'is' too strong, and it was a risky move. However, it was necessary. I am forming a rebellion against this man and I am going to stop him somehow. I am not sure how, but if I do not, then the universe will be at war. Saiyans, Namekians, Earthlings, everyone; and my main concern has become keeping that peace, because frankly, earth's people wouldn't survive..."
He looked away and gazed at the horizon as he spoke, "I understand if you don't want to get involved. I just want you to know that eventually, it will become your problem too. Geurin plans to stand above all races and conquer everything. Eventually, he'll appear on your planet -and he's not the only one who aims for such an ambitious plan."
The hooded man turns around and starts walking away. "It's been three years since I found out... beware, in two more years, we'll be at the brink of war and there'll be death everywhere..."
After hearing Nam's words, she ran after him and cried, "Wait, wait! Please I am an important member of a royal family! You would not leave a queen to die on such a hostile sounding rock as this would you. Think of the resources I could provide! I have a working space ship! Please, listen to my offer and I can surely help you."
She stopped there in front of him and waited for him to turn around as she said, "Look, you want a good rebellion you're going to need an army. To get an army I could possibly convince my brothers and sisters to come to your aid, but the problem is they might not listen to me, and take this kind of risk, unless I am stronger than as you see me now. I could try to convince them, but the likely hood of that working is extremely low. I will definitely help you though because they see me as a wandering space queen now probably. I have been gone nearly three years from my home now. I just want to get back and see what I can do for people to somehow eventually help you."
The hooded man left an audible gasp of surprise as the woman rushed after him in tears and turned around to hear her out.
"You'll be fine, there's a peace treaty between every planet for the moment, which expires in two years as I said." He explained. "Although, I'd appreciate your help..." he looked away as he considered the thought.”So... technically, what you're saying is you need to get stronger in order to receive your brethren's acknowledgement and then you could help my cause?"
"Yes," Maruca admitted as she nodded to him. "I've been gone so long and am the only known royal descendant in my family at this time that I believe my world's government has probably gone into chaos. Not to mention my planet, Amazonica, has been a frequent stop for strangers from other worlds. At one point and time, many years ago, someone with a monkey tail took over it I know once in the past, but he has let us live there without much hassle since the beginning of my reign. I am not sure of this man's current situation though since he has been gone for quite a while. He, although, instead of me... He is the true ruler of our planet in a sense and its defender. I am really only "Queen" in title. I think this is why it is possible for me not to end up with much help from my planet. They would rather keep out of things in the universe and would likely side with him than me if I were to pick a side in this upcoming "war"."
Maruca explained all this to the best of her ability as she could. She tried not to leave out details to make things easier for the warrior before her to understand. She hoped he would and could train her and she could help him in return. She was not too familiar with the Earth still and getting back to her home would be hard without his help.
"There's no side to be picked," he explained. "You're an alien to these people as they are to you. The difference is, while your people prefer to stay out of trouble; trouble is going to eventually find 'them', whether they like it or not. As long as people like Geurin exist, there is no peace. If your people can understand this; then I'm sure that they, along with whoever their ruler is, will accept..."
He turned to face her once more. "I'm not really the 'master' type, but I will help you train by acting as a sparring partner, deal?"
Maruca accepted his explanation, but as he turned to face her and said, he could not be her master she got a little irked. He was more than capable of being her master since he was much stronger than she was and a good deal smarter seeming than she was. She had no idea that there was a problem on Earth these last three years, and without his knowledge, she was sure to end up a sitting duck in the net conflict.
She stomped her bare foot hard against the rocks at her feet and cracked them as she said, "Look here, you will be my spar teacher as long as I want you to be, you will inform me more about this evil Geurin creature, and then you will provide me with fifty pounds of meat a day. Why? Well, I am a princess for one thing and without your help, I am going to end up dead on your planet. Do you want to have the death of someone on your hands? If you do, well, I am going to have to try to beat you to a pulp to get more of my point across. You can outclass me in all the ways a warrior should, but perhaps you don't think you have the experience."
With that, she dashed forward and raised her leg, spinning to the side with her hip to attempt to send a roundhouse kick into his rib cage. He could certainly block this and begin to prove her points above rather quickly. That is, if he felt like even defending himself against her sudden attacks. If he did not she definitely would not join him right off the bat still, even if he wanted to defend aliens of all kinds from one crazy alien creature. Why? Have the resolve or care to try to stop her. There was no doubt that if Geurin was trying to defend the Earth the best thing he might do is get powerful fighters. Nam had clearly said this about him or at least indicated it. He needed to match up to her and even greater forces if he wished to rebel though against this madness of Geurin's plans. She knew neither Nam nor Geurin fully, but Nam had convinced her mostly to be on his side.
Unfazed by her sudden movements, he raised his right arm and caught her kick. "I was just trying to point out that I have no experience in having 'disciples', but I'm willing to try..." He let go of her leg and then reached for his hooded, finally taking it off and revealing his tanned face to the woman. He had short brown hair and brown eyes that seemed cold somehow yet curious and warm.
"My name is Nam Reikonaga," he finally said, outstretching his right arm to shake hers. "Together we will become stronger than ever," he smiles.
"I suppose you're not as bad as I thought you were." Maruca voiced as she lowered her leg and shook Nam's hand. She noticed his tan face, brown eyes, and short brown hair and blushed. Whoever liked him was surely the luckiest girlfriend in the world. Despite being of a different alien species than Nam, he really was a looker. "Nam... Ma-ru-ca..." she uttered quickly giving him her first name. She was sure this would be a good friendship if nothing went wrong on her part.
"Nice to meet you Maruca!" he grins.
Maruca smiled back at him reluctantly as she tried to hide her blush and said, "Um, I hate to bother you, but I believe now the human creatures that were chasing me now probably have my ship. I landed it in the middle of one of their cities and now I have no idea what to do about that. I can't go back there because I feel I might kill them if I go to take my ship back."
"No problem," he said, flipping his hood back on to conceal his accused face. "You landed in Central City, right? Let's go!"
Nam started flying towards the city, assuming she could follow.
"Yeah!" she called out to him.
She flew after Nam with as much speed as she could push into her body. She really wanted to keep up with him and not end up left on such an odd planet as this Earth was. She had already died on it once, so she just really wanted her ship back so she could have the option to leave if she wanted to. She supposed some would call it cowardly, but it was not. I mean why stay on a planet when the place was not actually yet like a second home. Maruca knew she had not grown to like it yet, but she knew she might if she had the option to return to her real home, deal with possible problems there, and then come back with a more appropriate number of people. This Geurin guy might call it an invasion, what she was intending to hopefully do, but she hadn't actually gone and done things like blow up buildings yet, so hopefully at the time she did this she would not be attacked by him in the process of her re-landing when she came back later.
On their way to Central City, Nam was leading. He looked back at Maruca as he spoke. "So why did you come to earth in the first place?" he wondered.
"My people and I live on a planet that is often attacked by bounty hunters. Sometimes people on my planet die in these attacks, so they have gone and tried to train to the best extent to defend themselves, but the only Florian who has made any real progress combat wise is I. We are a peaceful race, so therefore, they felt it wise to send me away from my planet to somewhere hospitable like Earth, train here, colonize it, and then return home to tell them all the good news. I know what I want to do training wise after getting beat up by you in the tourney, but I am not sure about how I wish to set up a colony here. I have read in the past that there was one tiny group of Florians that tired to live here, but they were all possibly killed somehow or died." Maruca explained.
She stopped in mid air and looked around. She could smell awful fumes wafting into the air, "Are we near one of your planet's cities? It kind of stinks..." She held her nose with her fingers for a moment but then released it and continued with her story saying, "Anyway, because of this, my people definitely want me to stay here and figure out what could have happened. By colonizing, I am not sure what they mean per say. They do not want me to hurt people, but they asked me to try to assert my authority when I could. I still don't know what that means though." Maruca sighed and her sky blue eyes fell upon a glistening silver object far below her.
"I think I found my ship..." she pointed her finger to a spot two hundred feet below them where a group of guards stood around a large silver sphere about eight feet by eight feet in diameter. It was large enough to hold one person and as Maruca spotted it, she floated down towards it causing a large insignia of a flower on the front door of the ship to appear bigger. There was a single window on the ship as well made from clear tinted glass since Florians needed as much sun as possible to travel in space and to other worlds. They could live off sunlight, soil, and water as a normal plant could, but really liked to eat meat when they could as well.
Before Nam could reply, the woman flew down to the space pod. The ship had surrounding it yellow straps of paper that said 'Caution!' on them, along with two or three cops scoping out the area. One of them spotted Maruca as she descended.
"Up there!" he shouted. Moments after, all of them were pointing their pistols at the woman.
"Y-you're under arrest! Surrender peacefully or face execution!"
Nam watched readily from above, unsure whether he should interfere or if Maruca could handle a few bullets.
She had seen only a few guns in her lifetime from the people who came to invade her planet Amazonica for its notable riches. Yet as she looked at the guards who had run over to her and were pointing their guns at her, she noted that their weapons looked rather dull compared to the shinier, lightweight guns she was used to seeing. At least they had the sense not to fire quite yet. She was not sure what they could do with these guns, so she was somewhat nervous to go head on with them.
"Hello," she voiced, "Could I please have my spaceship back? I worked really hard selling wild animal meat just so I could buy one and come back to this lovely planet." She made no intent to attack them and showed this intention by keeping her hands in front of her at all times. Then again, they had said the word execution, so her words now were probably futile. She might have to kill them if they really were intent on killing her, as it seemed.
She reached deep within herself as she floated in herself and drew upon her new, latent ki. The red tattoos on her arms glowed as a pink aura surrounded her body. She calmly waited as many vines sprouted from her arms and legs and wrapped around them like a suit of armor. A set of large, pink petals sprouted from the back of her neck and covered the back of her neck as a neck guard on protective gear would. Green leaves also erupted from her body and drooped down to cover her front and back side like chain mail. If one looked closely, they could see her body was also changing from his its regular tan-white color to a greenish color due to how much change her body was outputting. One thing was clear. When she finished changing, she was certainly someone who was not of human looking origin anymore.
She glanced down at the men and their guns and although she had wanted to be a bit more kind she voiced to them now instead of what she had earlier, "Look, you want to kill me I get this, but you are in possession of my property, royal property. If this were my planet, I would have you brought up on charges, but this is your planet so I will possibly go with you, however, the threats you have made make me want to possibly hurt you where you stand."
She raised her hand and allowed seeds to grow out of the palm of her hand into a very long vine. The vine headed towards the men with intention to knock the guns out of their hands. She would only go with them if they released the guns, were a bit kinder, and surrendered her ship. Nevertheless, as she thought about this she knew this was not going to happen, so striking fast was her only option.
The cops stuttered back as the vines slapped the guns off their hands. One of them managed to pull the trigger out of reflex, but the bullet would probably just bounce off Maruca's armor. They would then run to their vehicles and call for back up on their radios.
"Leave them," Nam said from above her. "They're harmless; just get your ship and let's go before more of them arrive..."
She nodded to Nam and said, "I see them running and getting out of my way, but now that they're gone do you think I could actually lift my ship, or move it, and get it out of here by myself?"
She had not come to think of how strong she had gotten the past three years yet she knew her training with Heiwa and last year's workouts had to be worth something. She landed on the ground and walked over to her ship whereupon she circled it quickly to look for dents. The hull had none, so she wrapped her arms around one side of the ship and said, "Nam, if anything happens with this, please help me lift my ship. I don't want to turn it on because I don't know if it's damaged internally or might fly off into space on its own."
With these words said, she forced all the power she had into her legs and lifted with her knees. She also tightened her abominable muscles up to prompt her good lifting technique. Much to her surprise, the ship rose a couple inches off the ground then a completely good foot until she had the entire sphere level with her chest. She turned around with the space she in hand very carefully and said, "I think would transport this in a much better manner normally, but we're really short on time here so let's go." She managed to lift up off the ground and with the ship in hand and waited for Nam.
Nam ended up left speechless by her method of transporting the ship. He had forgotten came from her planet and not by Capsule Corp. on earth; where all they needed to do was click a button and the whole thing end up reduced to a tiny capsule the size of a finger.
He watched, somewhat amused, as the woman started flying off with the object in her arms and then followed behind her.
After a few minutes of flying, Nam resumed their previous conversation. "About you coming to earth... you can't colonize it," he said. "-But you can always live here if you wish. If you were to move here, eventually, those 'bounty hunters' would just follow you back here. What you need to do is stand your ground and fight them off. As I said, I will help."
Maruca heard Nam come up behind her and listened to his advice. She responded with, "So what you are saying is if I do decide to live here eventually all that will happen is that the bounty hunters I wished to avoid on my planet would come here and threaten other people?" She really did not want this to happen, but could see no way around this issue. Nam was right that she needed to stand her ground and fight. "I think someone came and landed on our planet last year to get rid of a few, but relatively few people tend to stay around long on Amazonica to stop planet hunters."
Maruca closed her eyes and thought for a moment before saying, "I think I will take you up on your offer Nam. I really need to get very powerful because otherwise I cannot live on that planet of mine without issues. My people, they trust me as Queen for now, but they would like two things out of me very badly. One is to be strong enough, as I have said to protect our territory and now that I have thought about it a little while here. They might actually want me to have an heir in mind. I'm the only person of royal blood who can care on my race's leadership, so they want me to have a family I suppose to make sure there is a spare heir in case something happens."
She smiled and said, "I know you would love to help me train, but do you possibly know where I could find an heir? I'm not sure if the people of this planet would want to mingle with me much, as I'm pretty scary right now."
"I honestly can't answer that," he admitted. "Before, this planet had a similar way of living; where they'd marry in order to keep the family blood alive and the throne would be passed down to the heir. However, earth is not like that anymore... regardless, I am sure someone like you cannot stay single for too long. For now, let's worry about getting you stronger."
Maruca sighed and said, "I suppose you're right. If I am not stronger then I am sure a person will not be going to take a second look at me. I have to be confident and capable of defending myself."
She paused in mid air though, now that they were a much further distance away from the city and asked, "Nam, where do you want me to place my space ship and where are we training?"
Nam stopped and looked around. "How about right here?"
He descended to the ground. They were not anywhere, just rural plains of earth. There were visible vacant homes here and there, but much too far for them to worry about it and the ground was full of short grass.
Maruca landed about ten feet from him and set down her space ship. She rubbed her arms and flexed her bicep before looking at him and the short grassy field around them. "I think we can train here for now. So why don't you go first and show me more of that excellent power you beat me up with."
She smiled and waited for him to strike as she clenched her fists and concentrated on her transformed state. She had been in it for a while and although it was very powerful sometimes, it drained energy from her. She wanted to keep in the state she was currently in though because she was not certain how dangerous their sparring session might end up being.
"First, as your 'master',” he said, still not comfortable with his new title, "I think I should teach you a new technique..." he observed her lithe and slim body, knowing almost instantly which move she could benefit from.
"It's my, High-Speed Movement technique." He explained. "By expelling short bursts of chi through your feet, you can move a lot faster, which seems to me like it'd work very well with your physique. Since you know how to fly, obviously, you know how to control energy. Try to concentrate that energy into your feet and then let them burst for a short moment, -like opening a soda and then instantly closing it."
Nam then proceeded onto demonstrating the technique. He started to appear as though he was running on air. "If you master the precision and timing, you can literally run on air and make sharp turns that you simply can't do with normal flight," he explained.
Maruca stood around taking in his explanation and notice how quickly he moved along the ground with his technique. Yet she was not impressed. For some reason she felt this technique would not suit her. Despite having, the perfect build for such a technique, it seemed a bit too flashy for her.
She obstinately responded, "I really don't like your technique. I do not think I could handle it. I'm more of a person looking for power and I do not really need it I feel since I have a technique that restrains people already, sensei." she made sure to address him as this since he was already reluctantly calling himself this.
"I understand," he said, landing on the ground. "But sometimes, the best offense is the best defense. Suppose if someone who can outrun your vine attacks. If they cannot hurt you, they cannot beat you. Maybe you'd like a move that's a bit more..." he said, now demonstrating the Zanzoken as he disappeared from her sight and spoke behind her neck. "...simple?"
Maruca had barely any time to blink before she realized Nam was behind her and speaking to her from there. She turned around, faced him, and said, "Now that might be something you could definitely teach me. I assume though it is the same as that last technique. Yet, this one, this one seems to pique my interest."
Nam removes his cloak and grins. "To be honest, I child taught me this technique. Its name is 'Zanzoken'. I do not really know how I could possibly teach you this move because I learned it through mere observation. I'm sure you can do it too if you try." he said.
Suddenly, Nam multiplied into a dozen as they idly surrounded her from all sides. He spoke, but none of their mouths moved, they were simply frozen images of his previous position. "The Zanzoken is a technique which allows you to move at blinding speeds -leaving an after image; the image of your previous self, in its wake."
Her jaw dropped as he moved around and left after images of being all over the place. He was fast. Since Maruca had heard him say, he had learned it from a child she copied him in suit rather quickly and started moving around too. Only partial images of her body ended up left standing around each time she moved though. She continued practicing though with him for the next hour though and slowly got a better grasp of the technique. She would definitely need more time to learn it still for full mastery.
"That's good, you're getting the hang of this," he said as all of his replicas vanished. Nam braced himself, lowering his power to match Maruca. "Now try applying it to a fight!" he said, dashing forward. He thrust his right fist at her face.
Maruca readied Zanzoken as Nam rushed towards her face and just before he hit created an after image before using all of her speed to twist around to Nam's right side and lean on his shoulder. She looked at him and smiled, "When you're fighting at my power level this is kind of fun." She stated. "I don't know if I want to fight much more, but I'll measure your response now and see if you actually do."
"He he, I see we're getting cocky already!" he chuckled. "What do you mean you don't want to fight? You have to get used to using Zanzoken in real battles so it becomes natural and fluid," he said, turning counter-clockwise on his right foot and attempting to plant his left heel on Maruca's side.
"I think I like you..." Maruca stated as she noticed Nam's heel coming towards the side of her ribcage. She used Zanzoken again to produce and after image and this time went around to the backside of his body. "Of course, I assume the feeling's not mutual based on how you're acting now and have acted." She shrugged as she added, "Oh well..."
"What?" Nam said, turning to face her with a puzzled expression. His eyebrows slightly furrowed together in a gesture of concern, which would tell Maruca that Nam was completely oblivious to what she was saying.
Maruca loved being a woman. She used the slight distraction Nam was experience from her words to send her left elbow into his face. She really did not have to rely on Zanzoken if she did not need to.
Although Nam was briefly confused, the distance between them was enough for him to detect the sudden movement and react. His reaction was shaky though as he stepped back and placed his hands in front of his face to catch the incoming elbow strike. "Ah, you're a sneaky one, aren't you." he said with a grin, no longer paying attention to her previous comments.
Nam then slightly crouched, passing her left arm overhead as he slipped under her and rose. For a moment it seemed like their bodies would collide, but as his face rose inches from hers, he disappeared and his image vanished. Nam would then appear behind her and lightly push on her back. "C'mon princess, give me your best shot," he teased.
She spun around to look at him and said, "This actually is starting to get annoying. Maybe you like me now?" Maruca grit her teeth and powered up a ball of ki in her right hand and said, "We're taking this fight up a notch okay. I want to pay you back for last time."
"Fine by me!" he said, bracing himself for her impending attack.
She threw the ball of ki she had in her hand directly at his chest and then used another Zanzoken to leave an after image of herself in front of him. This time with her technique, she jumped up into the air fifty feet above him and fired off seeds from her hand using the seedpod in her body. The seeds erupted into a set of thick vines as she tried to use this as a distraction to leap over him and get behind him. He would surely dodge this attack or cut right through it if he was meaning to fight seriously.
Nam slapped the ball of ki back at Maruca, soon discovering it was nothing but an after image as the chi blast passed right through it. He then looked to the sky, finding numerous vines raining down on him. Nam extended his right arm forward. From his hands, a blade of energy formed as an extension about the size of his arm. Ki no Tsurugi. He then slashed through the vines with his energy sword, slicing them in half.
After that, his energy sword would dissipate; he did not intend to fight Maruca with it.
Maruca dropped down towards him as her vines ended up cut. She clenched her fist and intended to pound him into the ground with a diving punching directed at the top of his body. She made sure to put a little extra power into it just to make sure she could do an awesome thing like break a hole in the ground if she missed. It would surely not help him either way. Maruca had a feeling she would not win, but she could at least try.
Nam used Zanzoken at the last minute, completely evading Maruca's devastating punch and watched as her fist pounded into the ground and caused it to crumble and burst into a crater about the size of her body.
"Over here!" he teased as he snuck up from behind out of nowhere and dashed over her, grabbing onto one of her legs, he performed a short somersault in the air and then tossed her to the sky. He would then follow her body up and plant his right fist into her stomach with enough force to make her cough out saliva -but nothing more.
Maruca once again could not keep up with his amazing speed. Nam was just too strong even at her own base power level. Obviously, combat experience made this so. Before she could even leave the crater, she felt Nam grab her leg from behind and hurl her into the air. Then he suddenly came up upon her with a frontal punch and hit her in the stomach. Maruca tried to hold back her pain, but as she did, she coughed up a huge wad of saliva and her body began to feel heavy. In moments, she dropped from the sky like a rock and slammed into the ground. She was still too weak for anyone to fear her or accept her as a queen.
Maruca could hardly move her body, but looked up into the sky and wondered, "Why?"
After successfully jamming his fist into the woman's stomach, Nam dived down and caught her; placing one arm under her neck and the other under her knees for a smooth and safe landing.
He heard her question. He smiled. "I know the feeling." he started as he gently laid her body on the ground. He then sat next to her and joined her gaze at the sky, supporting his weight with his hands behind him on the ground. "I was always the underdog. I was never strong enough for anything... -but I never gave up!" he said, looking back down into her eyes and smiled. "I had friends, and because of them, I'm who I am today... Don't give up, I promise you'll one day blossom to be the queen you were always meant to be."
His hair flowed gently in the wind; his black cloak fluttered and his hood dangled from behind, trying to dance with the graceful blades of grass surrounding the pair. The sun shone on his calm and peacefully expression.
She slid out of his grasp and said to Nam, "I suppose after hearing those words I cannot give up." She brushed off the front of her robes and added, "Nam sensei, please teach me how to fight. If I had now taken such a blow from you, like the one from moments ago, I would not know how weak I am. It means I obviously need to work out more. I will not tell this to just anyone, but there are some on planet who claim they are stronger than I am and I get the sense they are right. I am a woman after all so I do have a limit. If you can though, please help me pass this limit."
Therefore, with these words, Maruca had a straight goal in mind. She wished to be much stronger than she ever had been before. Her role possibly as Queen of her own planet was uncertain and she wished to protect it and her people.
"We will..."
