The First Steps of Change
Year 1
"The Tournament of Champions and a Journey to the Norian Moon!"
For some reason, C.haos had signed himself up for a tournament. Though he did not know why, he assumed it was for the Zeni prize, he was seemingly excited. He left Souka in the dark about it, figuring he did not need to know, and left, heading straight for the arena.
It was very crowded, and he ended up forced to fly over the field of people attempting to enter the stands to watch the fights. C.haos could feel the power of a few of the fighters and it put a grin on his face. They were very powerful. Perhaps C.haos could find a challenge.
He landed at the registration table right as they began calling last call. The two registrars looked very surprised by C.haos's appearance. C.haos looked at them, "Wipe those stupid looks off your faces. I am in." the registrars flew through his application and motioned to the spot he would wait.
He did as the people told him and sat at one of the benches as the commentator began going over the rules. One of the rules was no killing. Ring-out/knock out/forfeit matches they were things one could do under the rules. These all turned C.haos off, but he had signed up, and he was ready to fight anyway.
A few fights went by, and C.haos noted they all were close. Then his name ended up called. He flew gently over to the ring, feet grazing the ground; arms crossed, tail wagging lightly.
As his opponent name ended up called this opponent into the ring, he looked him over and read his power level. He was a three eyed, darker skinned man. He seemed weak enough, and his energy levels were nothing to be afraid of here. Perhaps this was a waste of time after all.
The three-eyed man got into an odd fighting stance, but C.haos remained in the same stance, huffing at the odd fighter. As the announcer shouted, beginning the fight, the man screamed, and ran at C.haos.
It was a frontal attack, which was a mistake against such a swift fighter like C.haos. A light grin appeared on his face, and as the fighter neared him, his mighty tail connected with the man's left ribs, causing him to fly off in that direction.
In nearly an instant, C.haos was hovering above the ground in front of him, waiting for a second attack, arms still crossed. His tail slapped upwards at the man, sending him into a spinning frenzy towards the sky. As he flew higher and higher, C.haos shot upwards with him, readying for yet another attack.
The man attempted to free himself from the spinning, but could not, and ended up hit by C.haos's third attack. His arms went behind his head, fingers interlocked, and he brought them down hard on the man's back, causing him to rocket even faster towards the ground.
As he flew, he built up so much speed his clothes literally burned off. In addition, as he smashed into the ground, it cratered under him.
The crowd went silent as C.haos gently fluttered down, his feet touching the arena floor. The announcer, who began praising C.haos’s abilities, broke the silence.
C.haos shook his head, "What a waste of time... This man isn't even worth the energy it would take to destroy him." C.haos looked to Souka, and jerked his head back, motioning him to follow. He then jumped out of the arena and over the stands. He was finished.
His feet landed on the concrete of the roads and he heard the announcer telling him to come back. He had advanced to the next round. However, after such a pathetic fight, he would waste no more time. It was time to go. Time to leave Earth and head for Nor.
From there, I have thought that we should land on Nor's moon and train. That is if Souka does not need oxygen. C.haos does not cause of his Icer heritage, but he has never tried to breathe without oxygen, so that could be a nice springboard to begin the training.
Souka at first was glad to come with C.haos on his travels. However, today's trip really bugged him. "Um, why are we..." he began to ask C.haos as he watched his robotic brother pass by two tournament registrars. Unfortunately, before he could follow his brother could answer he was already disappearing into fighting area.
The two men out front stopped him and said, "If you're not joining then you better get a seat. We have limited seating and the tourney filled with fighters. I'm sorry, but your friend is going to have to wait until he exits from the arena to speak with you."
Souka backed off and sighed. He really wanted to follow his brother into the fighting ring. However, they obviously were not letting him. For a moment, he stood there, but then stepped away from them whereupon he found a group of people betting on the matches.
"Hey dude," one of the bet collectors cried. He had a wide brimmed hat filled with cash already. "Want to bet some Zeni on the fights?"
Souka looked at the collector and said, "No, you’re fighting bets are probably going to be worthless in a few minutes. I already know who will be a strong competitor in this match, so I don't need to." He then proceeded to look for a place to sit and watch the matches, but did not feel satisfied by the seating he could see from within the viewing stands. He made his way to a wall around the arena crouched down very low to the ground before springing up into the air. Once he had, he landed on top of the arena wall and watched C.haos's fight from a distance.
The man before his brother was good in terms of speed and tried to take him out with a fast frontal attack, but that was a mistake. C.haos could attack with his tail and used full advantage of this by smacking the person in the rib cage. He then proceeded to use his tail a second time and sent him flying up into the air with it. The fight was over after a third strike in which C.haos got above him with his two fists and gave him a single sledgehammer like blow to the back. The man spun out of control and hit the ground in an instant, causing a crater to erupt from the ground. Souka's internal clock measured the time he had taken to complete this fight and estimated he had spent no more than ten to thirty seconds finishing his contender off in this fight.
The funny thing though now was that C.haos looked bored. Souka was sure he would fight more, but he was already calling him towards him. Souka had not realized it, but he was actually sitting on a wall above the viewing stands. He watched C.haos jump over his hand and land in the roadway behind him before sliding off the wall himself and landing on the ground. He ran over to C.haos and said, "I'm sorry for getting you involved in this. However, this tourney was in all the newspapers. It appears... I believe... That much of the Earth's fighters cannot offer us anymore training opportunities, unless we were to take on someone of Geurin's caliber." He had read about the leader of Earth's new government and wondered if such a person had been the one to kill him.
It would not be funny if he were since he already was supposed to have a power far greater than any being could imagine. Souka's computational brain he felt could not even measure this person’s great power probably. The problem was he had never met him and had no desire to. To speak with Geurin or interact with him, especially in C.haos's company was surely like asking him to kill poor Souka. At times, Souka had trouble following C.haos's power, but had gotten used to it. So now he wondered how much stronger the universe he had never really visited could be.
"We should go back to my apartment. Katashi has prepped our space ships for our voyage. All we need to do is get in them and leave. I know we were short on money, so I asked him to go ahead and not trade in our small ships for one big one. There isn't a market to sell and buy such bigger ships at a cheaper price, so I hope you're fine with traveling in basic space pods," he explained to his brother. Since he could not fly, yet he ran after his brother who was already looking like he was intent on leaving.
"I'm sorry for getting you involved in this. However, this tourney was in all the newspapers. It appears... I believe... That much of the Earth's fighters cannot offer us anymore training opportunities, unless we were to take on someone of Geurin's caliber." Souka told him, but the truth was it was not his fault. Moreover, he was right. Earth offered no challenge anymore. That was why C.haos and he were to leave.
"It is fine, brother, this is one of the reasons we will head to Nor. I assume that by this time next year, you and I will be far more powerful. I feel as if this planet is holding us back."
"We should go back to my apartment. Katashi has prepped our space ships for our voyage. All we need to do is get in them and leave. I know we were short on money, so I asked him to go head and try not to trade in our small ships for one big one. There isn't a market to sell and buy such bigger ships at a cheaper price, so I hope you're fine with traveling in basic space pods," Souka explained, but it was no concern of C.haos.
"That's fine Souka. Good job." he gave a light smile to his brother, and patted him on the back. "Now, let’s get going."
C.haos and Souka then depart for the planet named, Nor, after a few days of rest. The trip takes two months, but soon they find themselves on the nearby moon, where they can train. C.haos stays in his ship as it lands, and communicates to Souka over a radio, "No oxygen out here, but no one to disturb us. We can train as long and hard as we need to. We will take the rest of the year, and depart for the planet named, Nor, as soon as we are finished. How does that sound, Brother?"
That sounds fine..." Souka voiced over his radio communicator, "but we have one small problem..." He pressed a video screen button from within his space pod and an image of Katashi's spiky haired, monkey like face appeared on it and blocked the pale white face of Souka.
"YO!" Katashi cried, "I brought myself a space suit! Let's go explore da' moon!" His face literally covered the entire screen as the bottom of his shoe jammed up against Souka's hard knee.
"He got on board of my ship before we took off and there was nothing I could do. He wanted to travel with us, but the only way I felt I could remove him was to rip apart the tin cans we are riding in." His knuckle rapped against the sidewall of the space pod and he added, "It is cramped in here, but I might want to talk about him with you for a bit, once we land. He definitely though is wearing a specially made space suit, so I can get out and talk with you about the matter once we do."
Katashi of course could hear all of this and demanded to be a part of the conversation. Sadly, Souka reached up and managed to send a karate chop to the top of his head, incapacitating him while Souka took the time to take over the controls and land his space pod on the far side of the Norian moon.
On the screen, it was obvious that Souka had knocked Katashi out cold by his dumb blank face. Moreover, with that, he switched off the screen. Talk about painful.
C.haos, whom had already landed, nodded, "Fine, Souka. Just make sure you knocked him out hard enough to actually hold a discussion this time." Though he was sure that Souka had been someone tormented enough by Katashi's annoying travel songs, like wheels on the bus, he had to flick him a little crap. After all, that is what big brothers did.
He flicked off his ship, cutting the communication before his brother could respond, and began to open his pod. The seal let out a mighty hiss, and steam broke from the opening. As the oxygen left, C.haos could feel his lungs tighten and seize. He took a few breaths, but his lungs failed to expand. A sharp pain shot through him as he tumbled out of the ship, grasping at his throat.
He had trained in situations where he had little oxygen, and even under the water, but he always had the option to breath. Now, being on the moon, he had none, and his body was having a tough time transitioning.
He hoped Souka would not see this, and tried to compose himself, but without air, this was quite the feat. However, after a few moments of antagonizing pain, he was able to breathe again. The green color returned to his face, and the holes in his body all closed, making things much easier for him. He turned to face Souka's position and smiled, pleased that his brother would miss his struggle. In addition, he watched the ship land smoothly.
The gravity was slightly less than on Earth, and C.haos could easily leap over to the ship in one jump. However, after his struggle, he was happy with just walking.
Souka had no problem stepping out of his ship when he landed his vessel. He also did not see C.haos's struggle on the moon due to the fact a large crater separated the two of them by a good hundred feet or more. It had been a cramped inside his space vessel and he was glad to step out of it, especially since Katashi had a big bump on his forehead and was not waking up anytime soon. He made sure to lock the ship as he left so that no more air than necessary would escape and would continue allowing Katashi to breathe. They really should have gotten a larger ship for the two of them, but the time they had spent together getting money had not been enough.
Souka noticed that as he was looking around C.haos was walking towards him. He was glad that he and C.haos were robots due to the fact they could survive in this hostile environment without air. He walked over to him and said, "Um, so now that we are here. I figure we should talk Katashi. He is a straggler in space here as we are now. He will slow us down, but I really have to say I do not want to kill. He has some use I suspect. He is much stronger than a small child or a grown man without training in martial arts, or even some people with basic martial arts. We should use him as a distraction on an arable and livable planet, take whatever we need from it, and abandon him there. I'm not sure he really liked Earth, but this is how I think we should do things."
Souka figured if they abandoned him deep in space he would never get back home, never bother them again, and he might be able to prove more useful than he had to the inhabitants. "I would like to offer if we cannot train him enough in say about two to four years I suggest we definitely do this to him." Souka crossed his arms and waited for his brother's answer. He figured his brother would want to get busy training and if Souka could come to some quick judgment then all would probably go well and he would let Souka handle Katashi as he saw best.
"I do not care of his fate. I simply want him out of my way. And I assure you that if he gets in the way, I will have no problem destroying him," C.haos told him, a serious look upon his face.
Therefore, the training on the moon began, Souka knew deep within him a powerful energy core existed. He wanted to tap into this power and use it. His memories turned back to a time in which Dr. Genjou told him his eyes were actually a weapon. He said if he focused hard enough he could learn a technique the doctor called "Eye Beams" every day for about three months Souka would stand in front of a large rock and focus energy into his forehead directly into his eyes. They would sometimes glow red upon doing this and energy would appear for a brief moment but not go anywhere. Souka was trying his best to learn how to control energy so that he could shoot a direct line of energy from his eyes at his target. The rocks he was training on the moon were perfect for this since they were stationary. The problem was he could not manipulate his energy as well as he thought.
He would often turn to C.haos for help and ask, "How do I get the energy in my head to go anywhere?" He knew if he could control this kind of energy in a blast, he could be a devastating foe.
During their long period of intense training, Souka would often ask how to use ki somewhere other than his hands. This was something C.haos had experience in, but was hard to explain. It all came so naturally to him.
During the third month, C.haos had finally caught glimpse of a new move. This realization made him awkwardly happy, and caused him to break down and try to answer Souka's constant question. They had been training together almost none stop, and had yet to end up bothered by the android's human slave.
He explained to Souka that to do what he was looking for; you would have to store the energy up until it felt as though it would explode. Then release it. At first, the results might not be what you were looking for, but the more effort you put in, the easier and easier it would become to control.
After a short conversation, he gave his new attack a shot. Building his ki up inside him, he was able to manipulate his weight, causing him to move much slower, as if he weighed a ton. He could use this for training, much like a gravity chamber, or to easily crush his opponents with a punch or slam. Rightfully so, he named this technique the Hammer Fist.
Souka followed C.haos's advice and after a month, more of training managed to be able shoot small eye beams at the rock and chip off bits and pieces of it. He also took to being C.haos's training dummy and allowed him to smash his fists against him with his new technique as much as he wanted. It was not exactly the best for Souka, but it was not much of a problem in the end hopefully thanks to the durability of Souka's body. The gravity on the moon did not necessarily help him with his technique, but helped make him stronger overall.
Over the months, C.haos and Souka grew in power. C.haos could feel his brother's abilities grow stronger each day, and as they sparred and trained together, he knew that they were nearly ready to invade Nor.
But training on the moon was not easy. C.haos was used to both the average gravity on Earth and the pressure below the sea; but on this moon, it was different. There was still gravity, but very little, causing both C.haos and Souka to move at slow speeds. Furthermore, the alight gravity made blasts build up much quicker than on Earth and rise as they traveled forward. These changes made training on the moon a very rewarding experience for C.haos, and by the time the year had ended, he had mastered his new technique, and the challenges the moon held.
Following C.haos's advice and continuing to train to focus his power Souka eventually mastered the technique he wanted to and could shoot full on blasts of lasers from his eyes. It was impressive, or so he thought, although, at times he was unsure. That was how Souka felt.
