Brendan was still looking at Kotan when he mother began talking. The boy's intense fascination with Kotan was growing more obvious. Meanwhile his mother had regained her composure and was able and willing to properly speak to Kotan about what had just transpired.

"If there is anything that we can ever do for you, anything at all let us know"

She said in a very matter of fact tone. Kotan had saved their lives, and she would never forget that. While at this point Maria would be satisfied with going home and going to bed after such a stressful experience, her 11 year old was not as willing and began to speak further.

"Do you fight a lot? Was this your first bad guy? Do you go to the victory school? Did you help fight the monster that attacked central? Did you see the big dragon in the sky? I did he was HUGE!"

Brenden was relentless in his questions, he had never met someone like Kotan before, or at least outside of his fiction novels. Kotan reminded him a lot of one of his favorite storybook hero's, and it only intensified his fascination. He began to forget that most of the things he was talking about were not real. His mother had told him that the dragon was just his imagination, and that the Victory school was not what it once was. But Brenden couldnt help his curiousity. In all honesty this was the first time in months he had actually seemed like a kid, wide eyed and filled with questions.

Kotan noticed how Brendan kept looking at him with a sort of awe that was similar to a hero worship. He hope it would not become an obsession, but he was happy that the boy saw him as a hero and role model of sorts. Looking at the woman when she said that if he ever needed anything, he just needed to let her know. “Thank you. I appreciate your hospitality and generosity. If I ever need help, I will come to you.” Smiling kindly at her, he was happy for her, as her son was now dead.

Kotan was a bit surprised when the boy asked him "Do you fight a lot? Was this your first bad guy? Do you go to the victory school? Did you help fight the monster that attacked central? Did you see the big dragon in the sky? I did he was HUGE!"

Kotan had never thought he'd have to answer questions like this. “Well, first I've had a lot of fights, yes. And no, this has not been my first bad guy to fight.” Rubbing the back of his neck, he thought about the other things. “I tried to help fight the thing that attacked central. And yes, I did catch a glimpse of the dragon.”

Kneeling down a bit closer to Brendan, Kotan said “Listen to me. Not everything is based around fighting and stories. Some of the greatest legends have been normal people as well. So, also think about normal people, okay?” Kotan was a philosophical person as well as a hot headed saiyan.

Brenden listened carefully as Kotan answered. His attempt at philosophy had not been completely lost on the child, and his retort may have even been more mind boggling. He responded koyly and with much mystery by saying.

"What is normal in these dark times"

Such a morbid thing for a small child to say, granted this childs throat had been slit not 5 minutes earlier, but non the less. His mother scolded him quickly with something along the lines of 'Dont say such things' But in the end the child was right. Normal certainly hadnt been happening recentely, and for all he knew would never happen again.

A small horn sounded off in the distance, this was the primitive manner that the refugee's had developed for giving everyone a 5 minute warning. The camp would be closing its gates and locking out unwanted visitors for the night. Maria spoke under her breath.

"Maldita sea tan pronto?"

She turned back to Kotan quickly saying

"Im so sorry, we have to go before they lock us out. You are welcome to stay with us if you have no where to go, we owe you that much"

She said, grabbing brendens hand, only to have it quickly jerked away.

Kotan was a bit shocked by what the boy said. While it seemed his attempt to be philosophical to the boy had worked, he hadn't expected a morbid reply like that. Granted, the boy had been dead a few moments ago, but he would never have expected a child to give such a morbid response.

“Well, you do have a bit of a point. But you can't think like that. Life is a wonderful thing, to be cherished and not thrown about. I want you to try and understand that, no matter how bad things get, there is always a silver lining. There is always something good to look forward to. Remember that.”

He heard the horn, and realized what it was. The refugee camp would be locking up soon, and these two would need to get back, otherwise they'd have to spend the night outside. When the mother turned to Kotan and said he was welcome to stay with them, he smiled a bit and shook his head.

“No thank you. I'm fine. Honestly, just get to the camp and enjoy yourselves.” Kotan then knelt down to the little boy. “Remember what I told you. Everything has a good side to it. Just remember that, and behave for your mother.” Standing up, he smiled at them both, and flew into the air. He flew in the direction of his home, happy that these two had been saved.

Brenden watched as Kotan took off, his head turning slightly as if in deep thought. This had not occurred by coincidence. No, Brenden was supposed to meet Kotan this day...

Meanwhile Maria nodded, getting out another thankyou as the man flew off. She then, guiding her son, took off back towards the camp. She'd had enough of today, it was time for rest.

But there was something deep inside of her now, a burning passion. She knew that it was time for her to take action. It was time for the world to change. It was time to finish what her husband started. And as the makeshift barricade locked behind her she knew that today would be the start of a new life, and a new generation.

She only wished she could have talked more with the other mysterious man who had saved them. But that would have to wait...For another day...
