((it's so hard to find a suitable image of a news reporter in dbz XD but it helps add to the vibe, so i guess i'll just have to use this, though once you see the eyes you can't unsee them XD))
"...And isn't he just the most adorable little dinosaur you have ever seen?" concluded the immaculately dressed male reporter, in his slightly gruff baritone, his balding hair combed in an entirely unconvincing attempt to hid the bald patch on his head. Though he hid it well the reporter loathed the cutsie, air-headed fluff like this that he was forced to report on from time to time.
"Uhaha, indeed he is Frank" replied his female co-anchor, her laugh cutting off just slightly to fast for it to be genuine, (no doubt well-rehearsed but still betraying it's insincerity).
"That was Frank Kome, reporting on South City Zoo's latest attraction..."
"In other ne…” The reporter stopped, something off camera catching her attention and causing a frown to appear on her pretty features, the wrinkle lines so painstakingly hidden by the makeup department momentarily showing through. She regained her composure quickly, the frown disappearing as she re-centred her focus back on the camera and fell into ‘reporter mode’ once more.
“Uh, this just in; New word on the trouble brewing in the East District” The news reporter was reading the headlines as they came in, hastily typed down by the operator of the teleprompter for her to read. Off camera her Co-anchor perked up, listening intently at this new development. “We now patch you in live at the press release: "
The camera switched over to the live feed, and both reporters looked around to the crew off stage.
“East District?” Questioned the female reporter tersely, not having heard anything of any issues on the opposite side of the continent there until just now. One of the technicians had stepped forward and was adjusting the small microphone on her collar, and another member of the crew was bringing the male co-anchor his cup of coffee, while the rest ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, frantically trying to gather together sources and additional information to present before the live broadcast could come to an end.
“We did a preliminary report a couple of days ago about freight supplies from Chazke Villiage cutting off, and uh… yeah, communication towers in Aru City shutting down their broadcast for some reason.” He said through sips of the merely lukewarm beverage,
“I think Larry presented that last one, pretty much Bullshitted his way through the whole thing cause we knew bugger all about the actual reason why. It was going to be followed up tomorrow. I wasn’t aware of any further developments in the wider Eastern District area though” Frank concluded, before directing his attention to the screen off-camera that was showing the live feed.
The feed switched back to the two reporters, who had quickly readied themselves to continue the news broadcast mere seconds before, the prompter having barely typed in the rest of the text for them to present to the audience at home during the small break. There was an awkward, but composed, pause as both reporters waited for a cue that came just a little too late. While they tried to keep it professional, it was clear that this breaking news had caught them off guard.
"Major city centre's such as the Randosel and Satan City's remain open for the time being, but unsubstantiated reports place many of the surrounding settlements stretching along the coastal edge of Mount Paozu all the way up to Route 35 near East City as being declared under the new quarantine zone.” Said the female reporter, her co-anchor shuffling a few papers in his hand as he made ready to pick up where she left off
“Quarantine measures have not yet been fully enacted, meaning viewers can still drive through the area, though authorities strongly urge against it and have already moved in to blockade many of the main roads in and out of the area"
The camera view shifted, focusing on the female reporter once more:
“We will have more on that development as it comes in… I’m Barbra Yakit, of KBC news” There was a slight break as she concluded the report, and with that excitement now out of the way the news station returned to its scheduled report, though in comparison to what had just been presented the following report seemed almost foolish by comparison:
“Now, after the ad break: Carrots, friend or foe? What you need to know to keep your children safe”
Barbra presented it with exactly the same professional manner she presented all her news with; she was there to present news, not judge it. It didn’t matter what she thought of half the drivel they churred out on a daily basis, as long as the pay check kept rolling in.
Meanwhile, across the Eastern District, the vampiric hoard of infected citizens all paused as one, stopping the mundane activities they continued to perform up till that point. For many of them, life was not much different to what it was like before Virion had infected them with his Bio-essence, it’s potency not strong enough to cause the drastic changes to their bodies it once would have.
They continued almost on autopilot, only their slightly blank expressions, pink irises and befanged dentation differentiating them from your normal, run of the mill humans. They had become stronger than normal humans, and internally their organs had begun to shift and change. Their ki had shifted into an unnatural new resonance. It permeated the air, growing thick and fetid for any who could sense the character of an energy signal, strongest by far in the most densely populated areas, but still subdued for now under the false masking of their previous human aura.
Unsuspecting outsiders were met with hostility, quickly overwhelmed and bitten. Quickly the seed of their transformation would take root in this new host, transforming them into another of this growing hoard.
The collective hoard of infected humans, ranging across the whole expanse of the eastern district, sagged visibly, slumping down as a transition began to take place within them. An aura sluggishly formed around each one, growing like a purple mist that emanated off their bodies. Veins throbbed on the surface of their skin, growing more pronounced, their muscle bulk growing slightly. A chorus sounded as they began to cry out in unison.
This change was not one for the best, and with it the hoard’s humanity slipped a little further from their grasp. The fetid aura grew in intensity, each member resonating their power with one another and fuelling this transformation further. After a few moments, the commotion died down, and the people rose back to their feet. All of them were now staring pointedly in one direction, their collective attention centred on a distant point.
Something had begun on this day.

“-nothing to fear or be concerned about. The authorities have this under control, and are declaring the quarantine zone only as a precaution.” The crowd of reporters burst into a flurry of questions all at once, their outstretched microphones bobbing up and done as they vied for attention.
The man behind the podium, whose officious air and eyebrows that would probably frighten a small child, motioned for silence. Clearly he was not interesting in playing along.
“We will tell you more as the information come to us, for now all we know for certain is that there has been some sort of outbreak in the area, with possible civil unrest and disruption of trade. To prevent any further disruption we are stepping in and have already sent a squad of military personnel to render assistance and relief effort IF IT IS NESSECARY, and I stress the word IF. Regular activities, such as the Satan City Festival are said to be going ahead as planned, we simply request any outside visitors take the north-eastern routes into the city and respect the efforts of authorities enforcing this quarantine line. That is all we have to say for now, thank you for your time and patience“
With that the representative walked from the podium, escorted by two burly guards in professional looking suites out the door and away from the once again roaring clamour of reporters.
