The next morning Serori woke up earlier than everyone, she needed to in order to stop her parents. She lay in bed, waiting on the rest of her family to wake up.
It wasn't long before they did, the Redthew family always got up early. Serori heard them all get up, talking, cooking, then eating breakfast. They wouldn't wake Serori up, as she had just flown in to Earth. So she lay there in peace until she heard her father and brother leave the house, and her mother bustling around. When Mrs. Redthew entered her room to change into some work befitting clothes, Serori knew it was time to act. She didn't know how much time she would have to start her plan, or if the two males were at the dojo yet allowing the plan to be safe. But it had to be initiated now.
Serori tiptoed out of her room. She lacked the girth of the Redthews and thus was able to move about silently. She went to e each of the windows in the house, placed her hand on the metal latches, and used super concentrated ki to melt the latches. There was no way anybody would ever be able to get through those windows. Serori proceeded to do the same to all of the doors that led outside, except for the back door. Nobody used the back door, not for years. It was almost melded shut from the lack of use, it would take a great force to push it open.
When Serori had finished, she hid in the kitchen, waiting for her mother. She soon came in,and busied herself around the kitchen, cleaning this, putting that away. She never saw Serori once, which was just what she wanted. Serori knew people only saw what they wanted to see, so she could have hid slightly more visibly and still not have been seen. Mrs. Redthew was finished with her busy works, and reached for the door. When the handle didn't turn she tried again, and again, till she put her whole weight into it. Serori heard the door creaking under the strain, and knew it was time to reveal herself.
"Hello mother. Are you going somewhere?"
Serori' mother jumped. She turned towards Serori, visibly shaken. "S-Serori,I thought you were still asleep! Why don't, uh, why don you just, just, your brother and father are waiting for you in the dojo, and..."
It was Serori's turn to interrupt her mother. "I heard you and dad talking last night."
"I d-don't know what..."
"You are planning on leading an attack force against my Lord Suki, while i was asleep, though not necessarily in my bed."
A look of panic briefly played over her face. "Y-you must be m-mistaken, I was j-just going in town."
"I cannot allow you to attack Lord Suki. He is my employer, and he will slaughter you all like animals! You mustn't do this!"
"Meredith, that is exactly why we need to get rid of him. He is a danger, a threat. He must be stopped!"
Serori stepped up to her mom, and wrapped her arms around her. It had been many years since she had gone by that name. It brought back many memories. "Mother, please don't do this. I love you, father, and my brother. I don't want you to die. I'll buy you all pods, you can all go live somewhere nice, and forget about Suki...please..."
"Meredith, we can't."
"Mother, I beg you. Take my offer." Serori began stroking her mother's hair.
"I told you, we can't."
Tears streamed down Serori's face. For a moment she was quiet, then she whispered, "Then you leave me no choice...I'm sorry." Her hand was right beside Mrs. Redthew's temple, and before there was a chance for any reaction Serori shot a small needle of ki through her mother's temple.
Tears poured as blood spattered across Serori's clothes, on the kitchen tale, and ran down her mother's blank expressionless face. Serori lay down her mother's body, and started to clean the kitchen. She grabbed a sponge and daubed the bright red blood off her mother's face. She changed her mother's shirt into a clean one, she'd be damned if she was going to put her poor mother into the ground all bloody.
While she was cleaning, Serori realised that her parents really hadn't called her Meredith once the entire time she had been home. They had called her Serori. But how would they know about that name? She hadn't chosen it till several months after arriving on Vegeta. And her family had no television set...Or at least not when she had left. For as Serori continued tidying up, she saw a new T.V. Serori had no way of knowing what the Earth news had to say about Suki, but it couldn't be anything good, especially not after the destruction of Central City. And, upon further inspection, she saw her parents had an interplanetary receiver. They must have been watching the vegtean news. Serori deduced that this was how they knew about her Vegetean name. 'I hope they don't believe all the lies they must've seen on T.V.' Serori thought, but so far all the evidence pointed to the contrary.
She picked up her mother's body, felt the stiffness in her limbs already setting in. Serori needed to bury her soon, while there was still flexibility in the body. She walked to the back door and peered at it. The door looked sturdy enough, solid. It was definitely going to take some effort to get it open. With her mother still in her hands, Serori took a step back and rushed the door with her shoulder. It didn't budge. All she'd mange to do was just injure her shoulder. Serori let out a curse and set her mother's body down. She took a couple of more steps back this time, and ran at the door once more, this time kicking it. It splintered off the hinges, with barely any sound, which was all as well, Serori didn't need the rest of her family's attention just yet.
Tears still flowed freely as she grabbed a shovel and started digging into the ground. It was a little clearing slightly off the house grounds that Serori used to go to when she was little, and play pretend. Now it would be her mother's burial site. Once the hole was big enough, Serori used Ki to clean up the edges, make it smooth. She gently lay her mother inside the hole, closed her eyelids, and folded her arms over her chest. Serori kissed her forehead, and gave a last farewell before pushing the earth over her. Serori gave a quick "sermon," saying a few words to her mother that needed to be said. Afterwards, she went back inside, to do a little meditation. She hoped that her dad wouldn't have to be like this...maybe he would take her up on her offer.
