Ryota heard the sound of movement and while he would have liked to have created a rift from the fact that he couldentent evens ense any energy building up in the general area he was rather certain the attack would just be a melee attack which would make the rift none too effective as Carmine would simply have to move around it in order to attack. And So Ryota made a quick judgement on where the coming attack might be and adjusted his blade accordingly to intercept it.

However Carmine's diversionary tactics and Ryotas current blindness made the task of blocking the attack nearly impossible even with the massive advantage in power that Ryota had and so Carmine's blade cut him clean across the chest causing Ryota to grunt in pain as he took a step back. After a few moments Ryota noted that slowly his sight was coming back to him and with a grin he charged at Carmine taking a few quick swipes at him aimed at his arms and chest.

With every passing moment Ryota's vision became more and more clear and so he was rather confused that it seemed that Carmine had done nothing during the time he had been blind, he's expected SOMETHING but from what he could see his friend had likely just taken the time to collect himself and perhaps execute that attack.

And once again Carmine was on the defensive, reeling back from Ryota's fresh assault. He'd drawn blood, but the man was too powerful as he was. Even if he wanted to execute the Scorpion's Lunge, he'd need to create another opportunity to do so.

And besides, it was way too early to pull that shit.

He returned the assault as soon as he had the opportunity, but this time he switched it all up. He'd been focusing too hard on smooth, fluid technique simply because the weapon in his hand was best suited for it. But his armor was getting in the way of such movements, and ruining his performance. So instead, he changed gears, changed styles.

He punched forward with his sword hand to Ryota's face and followed with a solid step into the man's personal space in an attempt to force him backwards before finally executing a brutish, two-handed diagonal slice aimed at his shoulder. Where once he'd fought like a Tai Chi practicioner, he was now fighting like an armored european knight.

"You're a bit slow today Carmine, whats up." Ryota asked with a smirk as his eyes cleared up enough to note Carmine's shift in style. When Carmine came in for the punc Ryota unwittingly reacted just as Carmine had wanted taking a step back in order to give himself enough space to deflect the punch. When Carmine stepped in and made his swing Ryota's eyes widened and he just barely managed to bring his blade up to defend against Carmine's strike.

Ryota gritted his teeth as he tried to push back Carmine's two handed strike with only one hand, As Carmine pushed against the blade Ryota decided to try and end the exchange right there and sent a hard kick directed at Carmine's midsection hoping that the blow itself or the need to move to avoid it would give him the leveredge needed to shove Carmine back. If he managed to to do Ryota would come in for a swing of his own taking a swipe at Carmine's chest.

The kick connected with Carmine, and hard. He'd managed to catch Ryota off-guard with the change in technique, but it was too little and wouldn't have held out for long anyway. If this had been a real fight, Carmine would have been ribbons. He hated to ditch his armor so soon, but he just wasn't ready to be beaten yet.

His train of thought was interrupted as Ryota slashed him across the chest, and he dropped to one knee.

"I am a bit slow today, Captain...maybe this'll help."

He put his hand to the buckle of the belt of his armor and pulled a small lever. A computerized voice sounded, 'Cast Off', and with a hiss the armor fell from his body, leaving dents in the training room floor.

Carmine stood up and stretched, flexed his joints and smiled. It was an intense relief having those weights off, almost to the point where he barely felt the gravity. He was ready to kick it up a notch.

"Let's get down to business."
