Chillyn had spent several days in the cliff, which housed the laboratory of Dr. Neuge. Contrary to what he had said when they were escaping, Dr. Neuge had not yet told Chillyn anything about herself. This irked her, as she didn't know nor remember anything from her past, save for the burn scars on her face, which she now covered with makeup as a mask.
Finally, Chillyn pulled up the courage to ask. Dr. Neuge was poring over some papers, writing down something in a legal pad beside his notebook. Chillyn tapped him on the shoulder, and he put down his pencil, turning to face the female Arcosian.
"Is there something that I can do to assist you, Chillyn?"
"Yes, doctor. While we were escaping from...that place...you told me you would tell me about myself. Well, its been three days, and you haven't mentioned a thing. I was wondering if now was a good time to talk."
Neuge stood silently for a second, a thoughful look on his spectacled face. Finally, he pushed his half-rimmed glasses up, and smiled at her.
"Well, I just can't say no to you. Come with me to the main room."
Chillyn followed him through the laboratory. She had gotten used to its oddities, the chrome plated everything, the layout. They walked to what Neuge called the main room, but was really just a large, square room, with a couch, a large screen, and an interface to use the large screen, which doubled as a super computer and a tv. They sat on the screen-facing couch, Chillyn with her legs crossed in a lady like manner facing the scientist. He sat there for a bit, staring sort of up, not at anything in particular, thinking. Chillyn cleared her throat, startling him slightly.
"Oh, oh yes, about you...well, where to even begin?"
"How about, who am I? I'm an Arcosian, I know that, but where did I come from? Was I born in a test tube, grown out of a ground, or did I have an actual childhood? Where did my scars come from?"
Neuge chuckled. "No holding back, eh? Well, I'll try my best to answer your questions, although I don't know everything.
"First off, no you were not born in a test tube. You were a regular born child, had parents, went to school. A rather rambunctious child, but, then again, most children are. Anyway, you lived to the age of five years old, before your parents...well, your house burned down. Everything that could go wrong seemed to do so. The doors wouldn't open, the windows wouldn't break, everything had been tampered with to make sure that you and your parents died. However, an underground organisation, who's name shall for now remain anonymous, heard about the fire, and attempted to save the three of you.
"By the time they arrived, they were too late. Both of your parents were dead, and there was no sign of you. They spent hours searching for you, but found nothing. By this time the fire had all but died, leaving just smoldering ruins. Giving you up for lost, they began to exit the house. Out of nowhere, a scream sounded, and a burst of flame, right next to the door. Assuming an attempt to kill them, they immediately blasted it with ki. Fire gone, all explosives "disarmed", they went in to investigate.
"That's when they found you, wreathed in a ring of fire. They were confused, Icers are creatures of cold, yet here you were, ki fire, and manipulating the element. It was a unique thing that they couldn't pass up. One of them used a stun gun, knocking you out, and they bundled you up. Reports were sent in that all three of you were dead, and the house to be demolished, and rebuilt for a new family."
Chillyn sat, listening. "Well, that explains a few things. But where did they take me? And how did I end up in that laboratory?"
"Well, with your unique abilities, there was fighting between the underground associations. Everybody wanted you, to utilize your fire manipulation, to control it. However..."
Neuge was interrupted by the screen in front of them turning on. A large face of Suki appeared, glowering. Then came the alarms. Touketsuki began to talk to them. Apparently it was a transmission sent all over Kold.
"Citizens of Kold. This is your emperor. The time has come for evacuation. Saiyans are invading, and you all must escape to survive. As you should all know, there are escape vessels placed, six. One for each sector. Sectors A, B, and D will be heading to conquered Epoch Star. Sectors C and E to Kanassa, and Sector F, the smallest and most secluded, to Marvok. Vessels will be leaving in 10 hours. I wish you all the best of luck, and long lives."
With that the transmission ended, enclosing the duo in darkness. They sat in stunned silence for a short period of time, before Neuge stood up, running around his laboratory. He was hitting switches, flipping handles, pushing buttons, some that lit up, others turned off. He had straps behind certain furniture, which he pulled down, and clicked into a hidden buckle. Chillyn stood up as well, watching him, confused.
"Doctor, what are you doing?"
"Getting out of here. You heard Suki, Saiyans are coming."
"But, shouldn't we be headed to the escape vessel? I know that your laboratory is important, but we can't take it with us."
Dr. Neuge gave Chillyn a cunning glance. "Oh, yes we can Chillyn." He pushed a large red button, one that was hidden underneath a metal box. Suddenly there was a shuddering, as the whole cliff face began to rumble. The majority of the shaking came from beneath them, as of-
"Engines?!" Chillyn gave him an incredulous look.
"Yes, yes, my dear!" Dr. Neuge had a maniacal look on his face, as a new console came up from underneath. This one was long and wide, covered in blinking buttons, levers, knobs, everything that a space ship would need. They began to move, and Chillyn lost her footing.
"HAHAHAHA, be careful, young one, we are on the move!!"
The cliff beside them exploded. Smoke bellowed out, and flames could be seen through the darkness. The land below them slowly began to fell away, but then left even faster, as their vessel sped up.
"W-w-where are we going??"
"To Marvok, Chillyn, with the rest of Sector F. Better buckle yourself up on that couch. The ride is going to be bumpy."
Chillyn did as she was told, sitting down on the supple leather. She pulled down straps that had come up from behind, buckling herself in. She didn't know really how to respond to this situation, and just prayed to whatever gods were listening that all went well.
