Deep underground on the planet known as a Kanassa the war torn survivors known as Psyrans live in hatred of their better living, surface world counter parts known as the Kanassans. These turtle like people though and the demon like Psyrans shared one thing in common and that was their psychic powers, the essence of their hatred. For when they had spoken of this issue, before their battles, hundreds of years ago the Kanassans thought of their psychic abilities as tools and built fine cities and move whole groups of the Psyrans who only saw their psychic powers as a gift and rarely used it for anything outside of self defense.
When the Psyrans were put underground for their beliefs the whole of Kanassa fell apart as these Psyrans soon rebelled. It was found that the Kanassans could quickly learn how to use ki and create devastation with it through their psychic energies, but the Psyrans had more control and based their fighting skills around a special martial arts called Sukkiri Nentou "Clear Mind" martial arts. Eventually, the fighting led to many deaths though and among them was the father of Leta Duran, the main character of our story.
She wept for him for many days after he died against the Kanassans and she and her mother sought possibly to leave the planet, especially when the Arcosians came in to reign in order. These reptilians were kind and wished to let the Psyrans live under the same sky of their planet Arcose. The issue was that Leta and her mother were among those who did not want to leave, so they did not. Instead, they hung onto their planet and lived in caves, stopping the occasional marauding Kanassan from attacking them.
Sadly, about three days ago Leta's mother died on her thirtieth birthday, so now Leta is all alone in the world. What is an adult woman to do though? At that age she can clearly take care of herself and probably settle down, but as things are she knows two things in life. That's not going to happen yet and the only thing she really is skilled at is fighting and the occasional reading of books. In her opinion, she would call herself, stupid maybe even unworthy of marriage. But this is a simple psychiatric evaluation of the woman. Let's go and actually meet her.
The of water dripping from a damp ceiling awakened a beautiful woman with long white hair and brown eyes as water droplets landed on her nose. She was on her back in a white dress with a brooch shaped like a rose. Her long arms and back lay on a hard, flat stone. The only kind of bed capable of being made in a cave and for this reason she awoke with her usual shooting pain.
She sat up and looked around before staring up at a hole in her ceiling where some sunlight was coming through. It was a hole from last night made when a Kanassan teen tried to show how brave he was by blasting exactly where he thought he knew a Psyran woman was. He had managed to find her home through the power of premonition. Unfortunately for him he did not know the rules about that psychic power. Just because you can see an action or where someone is in the future does not mean the future still cannot change.
Leta had limited if little ability to sense things coming in the future, but she had thought something was wrong last night since the cave she lived in and others nearby were frequently hit by energy blasts to drag out Kanassans on occasion. She had good hearing so when she heard uninvited foot steps over the front end of her cave she had gotten ready. She hid in the shadows and narrowly missed getting hit as a small energy burst came through the roof of her very empty home.
This had infuriated Leta, so in seconds she rushed to her front door and climbed the rocks of her home to meet the shell headed turtle freaks called Kanassans. There was only the one guy and his friend, yet she felt she could handle them. The guy who had blasted her home made a mistake while checking his blast hole. He had heard her footsteps and when looking around for her looked directly into her eyes.
"Got you..." she whispered as her eyes glowed. The guy who had blasted her roof soon turned to his buddy with a strange red glow in his eyes and uttered, "Die." to him. In an instant, the Kanassan had raised a hand and vaporized his buddy in a stream of light.
Leta giggled as she made quick work of the one Kanassan and then used her remaining psychic power to cause the turtle freak to explode. How? Well, this guy had his own self destruct technique for usage as a last minute attack. He blew up fortunately in a spectular, small fireball as Leta stood twenty feet away and laughed. These actions would cause her lovely roof more damage, but at least she had gotten rid of her lovely house guests.
The issue was though was Leta still mentally stable? Sukkiri Nentou called for that to use psychic powers, yet due to her mother's death her emotions were rather out of balance. Life was not the same without her, especially when her cave really had rocks, rocks, and a bed of rocks in it. There was nothing left of the Kanassans, so sadly she could not decorate her home with their bodies. She hated thinking of how violent she had become now, but this was the world she lived in. She only hoped its harshness did not get rid of her special gift.
