They`ve been travelling like this for a while by now. None of them bothered to keep track of time, although the most reliable way of telling would probably be the amount of supplies they had left. Well, that`s the problem. They were close to the Lookout, yet far from any decent town, village, or anywhere they could buy food. What an annoying situation. Antary was running through a heavily forested area, still carrying the bike, strapped to his shoulders like some sort of backpack, and casually sitting on top of the bike Alice, who was now reading some other book she bought in the last village they visited. It was fairly difficult to keep a steady speed because of all the trees, but they were still going faster than they would on a simple car. Finally, they reached a brief area that did not have a ceiling made of trees.
“STOP!” Alice yelled, causing Antary to lose concentration and glide on his heels, desperately trying to make a sudden stop, but ended up slamming into a tree. Holding his (probably broken) nose, he started walking away, feeling slightly dizzy.
“WHAT?!” After an angry bark, Antary took the bike off his shoulders, gently putting it on the ground. There was a small lake at the place where they stopped, although the saiyan was clearly not interested in it. He took a seat on the bike, finally given a chance to rest even if just a bit. Alice was busy looking at the map, and after a bit of doing just that, she sighed.
“We are really close now. Jump up; you probably should be able to see it.” While she was busy putting the map into the backpack, which was also attached to the bike, Antary decided to scout the area by literally leaping upwards, and taking a look around. Yes, there was something there, in the distance, probably a couple miles away. A large pillar. It was way too high to see the tip of it, so that was probably what they were looking for. Alice nodded in approval, and took her usual seat at the bike, which Antary put back on his shoulders. That pillar thing was right over this lake, so instead of walking around, he decided to go right through. He went a bit further away from it, and ran right at it with his full speed. Due to the speed being higher than expected, not only did he run through it with only getting his heels slightly wet, he ended up causing a brief rain. Antary had to drop on speed once he was back in the woods, though, since he didn`t want to smash into any of those. While it`s not really fatal to a saiyan or anything, it was still unpleasant.
They were soon at another area clear of woods. There was a couple of old looking tents, but no signs of anyone actually living here other than the tents. So nobody to bother them, huh? And that… totem thing was there, too.
“Woah, I can`t even see the top!” Antary was the one surprised right now. Maybe this thing is so high it goes into space? Who knows? “So you`re going to stay here?”
“No. Going up there with you, as usual. And not leaving the bike here, either.” She crossed her arms, acting all bossy and intimidating.
“And why exactly should I carry you up there? You`re not even as strong as I am! You`re just a-“ While Antary was ranting, the girl came up to him, and looked him right in the eyes. She was notably shorter than Antary, so he had to lean his head slightly to meet with her eyes. He was confused. What was coming next?
“AUGH GOD!” Second time this happened. Got hit in the balls. Once again, in shame, he had no choice but to do as asked.
Anyway, he was planning to just run up the totem. Faster that way. But how to do so without making Alice fall off her bike? “You don`t need your arms to run.” Fair point. Lifting the bike up (as well as Alice sitting on it), he rushed at his full speed upwards. Thankfully, no trees were getting in the way. On the other hand, not the easiest thing to run upwards. He did it before, he`ll manage. Within an hour they ran up to the top, ending up on some sort of tower like structure. There were strange pots filled with water, and that water… It was strange. It`s as if the water had its own energy signature, almost like if it was alive. Staring into it for too long gave these weird images, apparently of the past. It was Central City, before it was destroyed, and after. While Antary was busy looking at the past, Alice was checking the place out. She soon returned.
“The place is empty. This is not the Lookout.”
“Huh? But what makes you think that?” Antary was obviously surprised. Is this the wrong place, or did something bad happen?
“It`s only logical. Your friend isn`t here, nobody is.” She then quickly walked away, taking the steps up. Antary followed her. They were soon standing on the roof of the tower, which was fairly steep. “Besides, what makes you think that the Lookout is so unknown even though this place is at such a low altitude? There is only one explanation. It`s higher than this. Way higher. We`ll have to find a way to fly up there, and since you can`t fly with those weights, we are in a bit of trouble.” To this, Antary smirked and dashed downwards to reassemble the bikepack (yes, that`s how he decided to call it), and after that, ran back to the roof, signaling Alice to get on. And now, for the hardest part – concentrating enough energy to blast off, yet not destroy the structure. It took about a minute to focus the energy needed for such a task. That energy was focused in his feet.
“SAIYAN SOUL!” Antary yelled, releasing all the energy in a white beam and because of that, he was forced off the ground and into the sky at a great speed. This was dangerous. If there was nothing there, he would just waste all energy and cause them both to fall. Antary might survive, but what about Alice? Well, surely if there was something there, they would reach it. The saiyan had enough energy to go like this for days, so if there really is something up there, they`ll surely find it.
Hours passed, and their very last supplies came to an end. It was like everything was against them up here, the weather changed into a horrible storm, and they did not get hit by a lightning bolt because of pure luck. However Antary`s sharp eye finally noticed something in the far distance.
