Previously, Nam was sent on a three day mission to… wherever. Kami had given him a ruby medallion, which secrets the half-saiyan would learn of during the given timespan. He had allowed himself to fall off the edge of the Lookout and had been gliding down back to the earth’s surface for about a half hour or so. He propelled through a cloud, which left his body moist and added to the weight on his body. He even almost knocked down a pigeon that had been flying elegantly without a care of the world. As Nam began to reach land, he realized letting himself fall was a bad idea. He focused his energy and tried to move, but the momentum and weight of his clothing were too great for him to budge.
As he approached land he began to think about all the possible ways he could escape from the fatal drop. He could use an energy wave, he could protect himself with his energy barrier, and he could continue struggling with the slight chance that he might escape –but Nam was afraid he might cause damage to the structure of Korin’s Tower, which he had been gliding down beside it as a guide. It was also most certain that he would get seriously injured, even with his barrier. There was another alternative though, Kaioken. The move John had taught the half-saiyan. He hadn’t really had a chance to actually use it and this seemed to be the perfect time to do it.
John’s words flowed through the half-saiyans head as he considered the method. The man in the huge sunglasses, John, was demonstrating the Kaioken to Nam. Antary had been struggling with his new weights nearby and they could hear his rants in the background. John struggled for only a few seconds and then receded. He was out of breath so suddenly, it almost seemed fake. Nam waited for him to catch his breath, “As you can see, I only used it for a few seconds, and I was already out of breath. Within those few seconds, you must move quickly and make sure your attack hits. If you miss, then it was a wasted attempt, wasted energy, and probably your own demise.”
The man’s words were clear in Nam’s mind. He had to move quickly and make it count. Nam was now about ten meters from the ground. He began to concentrate his energy and closed his eyes –still falling to his demise. After a certain point, he opened his eyes. “KAIO –KEN!” he yelled from the top of his lungs. It was a Kiai, which helped proper breathing while performing such an intense attack in so little time. Nam’s body was then engulfed by a scarlet red aura. It was somehow different from his usual aura. He instantly began to feel the strain on his body, but he couldn’t give in to it. Immediately, the half-saiyan began to pull up like and aircraft and veered just feet from the ground, flying over it at minimal distance. He tried to elevate himself to avoid ramming into any trees, but as he attempted it, his technique shattered and the red aura dispersed. His exhausted body grinding through the ground and was soon stopped by the deciduous trees.
“Ugh…” he grunted.
Nam allowed himself to rest on the tree. He was lying on his back, breathing heavily. I just started… and I’m already hurt… he complained. He stared at the trail that marked his fall, and after catching his breath, he attempted getting up on his feet. As the half-saiyan made the first attempt, he twitched in pain and landed back on his bottom. ARGH… IT HURTS!! he thought. His outward expression was perceived as groans, moans, and grunts. It wasn’t exactly his bruises that pained him; it was something about his body in general.
Suddenly, the tree he was resting on began to shake, and apparently gave in to the impact as it began to collapse on the ground. Nam moved quickly and rolled the side; otherwise, he’d had been crushed. The sudden, jerking movement only added to the shrill pain he felt on his body. Nam sighed and laid down on his back, giving his body time to recover. Minutes passed, hours passed, he wasn’t sure just how long he had been lying there –but he finally decided to get back up. He was still in pain, but he knew he had to start moving or else it’d be wasted time. He was supposed to learn something about the medallion, and he certainly wasn’t going to learn a thing by lying down.
Nam got up with a grunt. He clenched his fists and tightened his eyes; enduring the pain. As he struggled with every step he began to wonder where he should go next. Satin City came to mind. But he was a ways to go and certainly wouldn’t be arriving anytime soon with his current pace. Nam was walking heavy steps with his legs apart, knees bent and arms tensed to the side to keep balance. The medallion somehow enhanced the weight of his clothes, and now it limited his power level by quite a lot.
Getting back some of his energy, Nam decided to take flight and was now traveling at a decent speed. He was flying over the plains of Mount Paozu. Suddenly, he detected a sudden power level which spawned out of nowhere. He turned to where his senses led him, only to find an energy beam heading his way. Nam moved to the right, but the weights delayed his reaction time and he was struck down. The beam was a blunt type, which felt more like a really strong punch. The half-saiyan grunted as he began to fall and brought his knees to his chest, making his body rotate 180 degrees and finally landing on his feet and right hand to support him. His left hand was in the air, keeping him in balance. Upon landing, dust was lifted in the air and the half-saiyan instantly stood up in a defensive position.
“Wh-who’s there,” he demanded. His senses were now sharp and he was feeling out his surroundings. Instead of a human answer, Nam’s question was replied by a shrill screech as he was launched an energy blast. Nam’s feet were planted on the ground and all he could do was turn around to face the blast and block with his arms crossed over his head. Nam’s left leg was bent in front and his right was behind. The energy blast landed and dispersed. It wasn’t very effective, but Nam was still recovering from the use of Kaioken and the crash landing he experienced earlier. The blast simply made him more disoriented. He receded from the blocking stance and covered his chest with his left fist in front and his right slightly behind.
Nam waited for mild smoke to fade, which then revealed a group on weird looking beings. The more immediate one, which had its hands extended, probably because he was the attacker, was the shortest of the three. It had black and wrinkly skin, its eyes were also black but the pupils were surrounded in a yellow ring. The rest were familiar, except one of them was red. The three nasty aggressors were staring with eyes full of darkness and evil. Their bad intent was felt through mere glance. The tallest of them all –also the most built individual walked forward.
“Give us the medallion…” its voice was rash and alienating. Nam reached into his pocket and brought out the ruby medallion Tenshu had entrusted him with. Does he mean this?
The black thing extended its black arm and exposed its long and sharp nails. He was gesturing to receive the object in Nam’s hands. Nam then remembered what Kami had told him; he was to stay close to the medallion and never lose sight of it no matter what.
“Sorry, but I’m afraid I can’t do that…” Nam said. The bulky entity quickly frowned at the half-saiyans answer and exposed his yellow and tainted teeth. The ugly expression made Nam flinch and he switched back into his defensive stance, storing the medallion safely back in his pocket. There was a moment of silence and the four of them just stood there, staring at each other. Suddenly, the thinner one made the first move. While the shortest was charging another energy blast, the red one moved at blinding speeds towards the half-saiyan. Nam was focused on the horns on its head, and they all had a long, thin tail that seemed to have an arrow at the end. They resembled the devil somehow.
Within milliseconds, the thin devil-like creature was in Nam’s face, blocking his view of the other two, while simultaneously unleashing a thrust with its clenched red fists. Again, Nam’s weights were quite a burden and limited his reaction. Instead of dodging the attack, Nam used his energy barrier. The thin creature’s fist was no affect for Nam’s shield. It kept trying to strike through it, but although it was blindingly fast, its punches were weaker. Suddenly, a grin crossed through the devil’s face, which sent shivers down his spine when combines with those diabolic black eyes. The reason behind the smile was soon revealed as it disappeared; revealing the heavy fist unleashed by the bulky one, which easily shattered Nam’s barrier and then sent another black fist to his defenseless face.
The impact was grand and very effective. Nam had clenched his jaw to avoid getting it blown off and somehow he remained on his feet. The half-saiyan couldn’t decide whether the weight of his clothes prevented him from flying off the ground. Next, the heavy hitter cocked back its hands once more, Nam could tell this meant another attack and was able to move ahead to compensate for the lost in speed. As the black figure thrust another power packed right punch, Nam shifted his body to the right slightly ahead of time –causing the punch to miss, and with its arm fully extended Nam gripped it with both hands and pushed forward while lifting his right leg behind him and tossing the heavy devil to the air.
Next, the red one dashed once more towards Nam. He had detected this in his peripheral and in a surge of energy he increased his speed using Kaioken. Nam was engulfed in the scarlet light of energy as he recovered from the throwing position and quickly turned a backwards roundhouse kick at the dashing devil –planting the sole of his black boots on its face and propelling it to the far end. As he did this, the Kaioken wore off and the shortest of the three finished charging its alleged energy blast, which was actually a beam. Nam was forced to use Kaioken once again, jumping into the air and he swiftly unsheathed the two-edged sword that had been resting on his back; he slashed thrice at the air and from the blade emanated three thin strands of energy which spiraled in the air and restrained the black creature in a whiplashing impact, preventing movement. Nam wouldn’t have to worry about its energy attacks for a while. The beam dispersed from beneath, leaving behind an indented trail, which he would be landing on.
The Kaioken’s effect wore off once again and Nam landed on his knees and hands; still gripping his sword with his right hand. He was breathing heavily and he didn’t know how much more of it he could take. He was at a great disadvantage: his abilities and movement were greatly limited by the weight of his clothing; he was facing three opponents, while the shortest of the three charged his beam, the red one would rush in for an attack to buy time for the power hitter to catch up and then surprise their opponent with a nice smack in the face; there was also the fact that Nam had used Kaioken three times throughout the entire day and crash landed against a deciduous tree.
“Wh-who are you…?” Nam asked. He coughed and let go of his sword, leaving it on the ground. He felt considerably lighter without the lump of metal, but he was still very disadvantaged.
“We are demons from the underworld,” the largest of the three spoke again, replying to the half-saiyans question. The red one would just screech and the shortest one would roll constricted on the ground, trying to free itself from Nam’s Binding Technique. It seemed that the bulky demon was the only one capable of speech.
“What… –Nam was about to ask what they were after, but he realized it would’ve been stupid and pointless since he already knew they were after the medallion.- Why do you want the medallion?” the half-saiyan was still on his knees, breathing heavily and sweating down his face.
The black demon stared silently; his grin grew as he calmly walked towards the half-saiyan. It was as if the demon was thinking of an amusing way to answer Nam’s question. “Just want a reason to kill you…” its black eyes narrowed at it said this and began to run towards the saiyan whom was on his knees. The thinner one went on ahead as usual and aimed towards Nam’s face as it cocked its hand back while laughing ominously. Nam was too tired to do something about it and the red demon unleashed a barrage of punches on his face. Nam grunted, he was surprised by how much his punches were hurting. It seemed the Kaioken made his body more sensible and vulnerable to direct hits.
It was now evident that he could no longer allow himself to get hit by those demons. Nam was going to have to end it all quickly before he ends up dying. While he was still being punched by the fast attacks he used the Kaioken once again in a struggle to free himself from the endless pain and slammed an uppercut to its jaw. The demon was caught off guard by the sudden surge of power and was propelled for the second time to the far end. Nam focused on keeping the Kaioken active a little longer and charged towards the heavier one, unleashing a massive blow to its poorly defended solar plexus. The bulky demon spit out blood and was now resting on Nam’s right hook. Since Nam managed to paralyze him, he followed with three more kick shots in the midsection and a final jab in the face to lift it off the ground.
Once again, the Kaioken wore off and now Nam was in an even more critical state. He didn’t know how he was going to save himself from the battle. The half-saiyan fell to his knees and collapsed face first to the ground. He was almost fixating on the lack of oxygen and could only breath deep to help catch his breath.
Meanwhile…
The power of his binding technique finally wore off and the short demon broke through it. Soon he was standing back on its feet and following behind it was the red demon, which was slightly taller than them. The heavy hitter was also on its feet and walking towards the collapsed half-saiyan, whipping the blood off its mouth with a snarl. “You’re going to pay for that!” he said. The three demons soon caught up to Nam and began to team up on him, grinding the half-saiyan defenselessly to the ground. All he could do was lay there as they buried their feet on his back side. His whole body was numb and it was only a matter of time before they took his life.
The sharp metal sound of his sword was heard as it was picked up from the ground by the faster demon. It laughed diabolically, grinning intensely and obviously with the intent of piercing through Nam’s body. Damnit… I’m so weak… he began. Every time Nam fought, he always seemed to be losing. But this time he had all odds against him. Nam was discouraged and almost admitting defeat. Tenshu kept saying how he was always looking down on himself, and he was right. Nam wasn’t an extraordinary fighter; he was always losing, even as a kid. He lost against Zach, he was almost killed by Meishi, and he definitely can’t do a thing against Touketsuki Yakedo.
All of a sudden, images of those very moments flashed through his head. Memories of him fighting Zach for the first time, when he participated in the intergalactic tournament against Zach, his both encounters against the Majins, his training with John and his meeting with Antary; was he having some sort of epiphany? Something was weird… Nam felt lighter somehow, as if all the weight that was pulling down on him had just disappeared. Was he dead? No…
Nam looked up; the short demon was holding something red in its hands. It seemed it snuck the medallion out of his pockets without him knowing. The muscle demon was standing idly, watching as the red one was about to stab down Nam with his own sword. The half-saiyan frowned and began to stand up on his feet. He struggled for a moment, but in the end he made it. The fast demon froze for a moment, surprised that the half-saiyan had managed to stand back up. Nam was looking down to the ground, bruises all over his body, his clothes were a bit ripped apart, a strand a his brown hair resting on his face –ending near his lip. The half-saiyan bared a shadowy face, which hide his eyes from the three.
“It… doesn’t matter…” he finally said. The three demons were confused, and remained quiet. “It might seem like I’m weak, but the fact that I have been able to survive attacks from people like Meishi, the fact that I rival powers such as Zachs, and the thought that I can even think facing Touketsuki… all of that proves just how powerful I really am…” with the last word, the half-saiyan looked up, revealing his face. He was mad. His eyes were intense and the relief from the weights allowed him to unleash his full power. Even though he was as hurt and injured as he was, he was still quite impressive –or at least, impressive enough to shake the resolution of the demons standing before him.
There was another image that crossed through his mind before he made his move –one that reminded him of his own resolution; the reason why he began to fight. This was the root of his journey and his very first incentive. –His mother’s death. The thoughts of vengeance returned to his mind, which were once drowned by the current events that had been coming one after the other. He would never forget the face of the saiyan that murdered his mother, and much less the face of her lifeless eyes. Nam’s energy began to rise tenfold. The dust lifted around him and a few rocks flew away. The red demon finally decided to attempt stabbing Nam, but in his place was left the silhouette of where he once stood. They were surprised and Nam had mysteriously appeared behind it. “I believe that’s my sword…”
The demon flinched and dropped the weapon to the ground, unable to move. Nam extended his right hand forward, with his palm facing the demons and without further warning, he unleashed a thick blue beam that could cover his own body completely if it were returned to him. The three demons could only screech as they disintegrated from the blast and the medallion dropped on the ground.
Nam sheathed his sword back into its scabbard and retrieved the ruby medallion, which steamed a bit from the attack. With it came back the enhanced weight of his clothing and he simply fell to the ground. Not bothering to struggle against it. Now that the battle was over, Nam’s injuries were felt completely and fully. The half-saiyan decided to spend the rest of the day sleeping on the ground so his bruises would heal, his body would recover and tomorrow he'd have the strength to continue.
If they're stronger... then I'll just have to work harder...
New Move: An update on Nam’s Kamehameha. Depending on how angry he is or the amount of time he puts on charging his attack, Nam can now unleash an energy beam of raw power wide enough engulf an entire human body.
PL + Heavy Weighted Clothing + New move
As he approached land he began to think about all the possible ways he could escape from the fatal drop. He could use an energy wave, he could protect himself with his energy barrier, and he could continue struggling with the slight chance that he might escape –but Nam was afraid he might cause damage to the structure of Korin’s Tower, which he had been gliding down beside it as a guide.
