After wandering around the city for a bit, Meredith finally found a dojo where she could train. There was hardly anyone here, so Meredith found a room with a practice dummy so she could train by herself for now.
She started with her usual warm-up, 100 push-ups, and 150 sit-ups. She did stretches, and finally was ready for actual training. She started with her form. Taking up a defensive stance to start, she bowed, and began. This was a form that she had been taught most recently by Alfred, although she was trying her best to not remember that fact. It trained punches, kicks, stretched out muscles, and strengthened her core. It would switch between half-time movements, which were slow in the beginning, but near the end of the movement, would snap into plac, slow punch forward, then right at the end, snap forward, twisting for maximum effectiveness, to regular speed moves, a sideways double kick to 135 degrees up, then 175 degrees. Punches to solar plexus, kicks to heads, spin-kicks. The form was both beautiful and deadly, and had a rhythm to it.
After she was done with her form, she did 50 more push-ups, and began to train on the practice dummy. She was much more used to sparring with real people, but this would do for now. She was a bit tentative at first, not wanting to break it, but once she was sure it was firm, she started throwing hard punches, not holding back kicks. Hammer-fists, elbow smashes, butterfly kicks, she practiced everything she knew on it. She finished breathing heavily, fists raised still in an offensive stance, and instinctively bowed to it. That was when she noticed a man standing in the doorway. He was probably about her age, slightly taller than her, and looked as though he had more muscles than her.
"Is this room taken, or may I join you?" He asked
Meredith cocked her head to one side, and then nodded. The guy smiled, and walked in. "My name is Komatsuna."
"Meredith...Meredith Redthew." She was reluctant to use her last name, but a name was a name, and it was hers.
"Meredith Redthew? An odd name for a Saiyan." Komatsuna shrugged his shoulders. "But a name is a name. Nice moves you were using there. I haven't seen that style of martial arts often on Vegeta. Where do you come from?"
Meredith thought for a second. She wasn't sure if she should give information about herself to a complete stranger, but he seemed friendly enough. "Earth."
"Ah. You don't talk much, do you?" It was more a statement than a question. "May I spar with you?" Meredith nodded, and took up a defensive stance, as did Komatsuna. "Ready?" He asked. Meredith nodded, and they began.
Meredith waited for Komatsuna to make a first move. He lashed a kick at her, which she easily blocked, and came in swinging from the right at his face. He ducked, and aimed a punch at her stomach. Meredith jumped back, and jumped forward, doing a jump kick. Komatsuna blocked with both of his arms, and pushed her sideways. Meredith rolled, and got back up, lashing another kick Komatsuna. He sidestepped, and threw three quick punches at Meredith. She blocked two, but was hit in the shoulder by the third. She showed nothing in her face, and kept going, throwing quick punches at Komatsuna, putting him back on the defensive. He was forced to dodge left and right, going backwards, until he hit the wall. He layed both his hands against it, and when Meredith was close enough, launched himself at her. Meredith was taken by surprise, and was knocked over, winded. Komatsuna walked over to her, holding out his hand to help her up. Meredith didn't take his hand, and instead punched hard at his head. Komatsuna wasn't expecting this, and only just managed to step out of the way, but still taking a glancing blow to the side of his head.
"Ah!" Komatsuna grunted in pain. Realising what she had done, Meredith gasped and got up. "Are you alright?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks." He smiled. "That was a good session...Meredith, was it? We ought to meet again tomorrow, get some more sparring in." Meredith agreed, and they bowed to each other. "Evening, tomorrow?" Meredith nodded. Komatsuna smiled once more, and left.
Meredith did 50 more push-ups, and 25 more sit-ups, thinking about Komatsuna. He was nice, yes. But maybe he was too friendly. She shouldn't let herself get to close to anybody, not if she wanted to continue striving towards her goal. She finished up and left the dojo, heading for her space pod again. Once there, she practiced a different form, this one for warming down. It was almost all half-time moves. She started In a defensive stance, and stepped forward, slowly punching, until the last second, snap! Next was a kick, aimed at the chest of an invisible opponent. Pulling her leg back, she aimed, and slowly pushed it forward, and right at the end pushed out all the way. She brought it back in, and slid forward on her left leg, before setting down the leg that just kicked, and slammed her elbows back diagonally. This brought her sideways, so she picked her right leg up, spun clockwise, then kicked in the direction of what was in front of her. Bringing her leg down, she started taking steps backwards, each with a block from the opposite hand, or a punch. This continued for 5 minutes, and she was done for the day.
