(I think what I'm going to do for these kinds of posts is take turns describing how she does her job that day as a waitress, and describing a recipe from my own recipe book. Yes, on those days, if you want to, you can actually try out the recipes for yourself, pm me what you think!)
Serori walked into the noodle shop. Today was her first day on the job, and she didn't want to blow it. She walked into the back, and found the man who she had met before who hired her. She wasn't sure what to say so she started with "Sir, what would you like me to do?" The man looked her up and down again, and grunted. "Hired you yesterday, did I?" "Yes sir." He nodded, lost in his own thoughts. He looked at Serori again. "Whats your name, girl?" "Mer...Serori. Serori Satsumaimo." He grunted at her stutter. "Know how to cook Serori?" She nodded, and he asked her to show her, sticking the wok in front of her.
She took a small bowl and placed a pound of chicken with two tablespoons of soy sauce and one tablespoon cornstarch. She blended it, and let it stand while she heated two tablespoons of oil with a half-teaspoon of salt in the wok, which she placed over high heat. After about fifteen minutes, she added the chicken into the wok and stir fried it until it was white and firm. She added mushrooms and onions, and stir fried it until the vegetables were soft. Placing it in a heated bowl, she added two more tablespoons of oil to the wok. She Stirred in four cups of shreeded cabbage and one teaspoon of sugar. After stirfrying this for four minutes, She returned the chicken-vegetable mixture she had put into the heated bowl to the wok. Going on a limb, she added cashews and tossed it to combine all the ingredients with the cabbage. She added one teaspoon cornstarch to a fourth of a cup of soy sauce, then stirred the mixture into wok ingredients. She covered so it would steam for about a minute. Then she uncovered it and stirred it until the sauce had thickened. To finish up, she sprinkled it with dried rice noodles. The chef watched as she did all this. He tasted it, and smacked his lips. It was some of the best noodles he had ever had come out of the shop that he hadn't cooked himself. "Girl, where did you learn to cook like this?" "My...mom, taught me." Serori had trouble saying this, but was still unsure what to call Mrs. Redthew. "Well, she must be one hell of a cook. Does she live here on Vegeta?" "No, sir, she lives on Earth." "What a shame," the man rubbed his scratchy chin, and shook his head. "Well, I'm sure you'll do just fine, just keep cooking like you just did, and you'll be rich in no time." Serori thanked the man, and got to work cooking, and then serving. She worked from 12 until 8, and when she was done the owner of the shop payed her for her day's work.
