The cool breeze of Namek swept in from the open passage into the Elder’s Fortress, and the leader of the planet, the Guru Param, sat on his throne in meditation. His lungs rising and falling, his legs crossed one over the other, his hands resting peacefully on his lap. The world slowly drifting away until the cool breeze was but an illusion. Param’s mind was his reality in this world, and his mind was as a calm sea mirroring the world above yet hiding the tumultuous currents below. Outwardly he seemed at peace, yet inside he was nothing but worry.
He was aware that he was weak, and so far he had protected his people by pure cunning. He had outwitted the cunning leader of the Federation, Suki. He had formed a powerful alliance with the Saiyan King Boliko. Yet, he was aware that somewhere in the universe there was someone who didn’t care about treaties, power, or gold. Someone who’s only wish was to see the universe burn, one planet at a time. When the time came that this person, whoever it may be, arrived on Namek Param needed to be strong. Not only mentally, but physically as well. Only than would he be able to fulfill his duties as Guru, only than would he truly be able to protect his people.
This would come in a number of steps. Step one he would need to be connected intimately with his people, to do this Param had decided to learn the art of Telepathy. Then if at any time his people needed help, he would know immediately who, where, and why. This would also aid him in better understanding his enemies, as he could scan their minds for information which he could use to his advantage. Also, he would be able to scan the skies above for hostile minds, he would know the intentions of those arriving on Namek before they landed on the ground. Thus he would be better suited to mobilize the Namekian people in the event of a hostile attack. Finally he would be able to speak to every individual on Namek at once, giving his messages without ever having to be seen. This would make him better suited at becoming a leader.
Step two, he would work on becoming a more adept warrior. He had already gone through basic training with the warrior clan, but this was not enough. He needed to learn more martial arts, he needed training in more advanced combat systems. He had learned of an ancient Namekian technique during his inauguration as Guru. It was an ability to fuse bodies, learning all the techniques and skills of the most powerful Namekians while simultaneously growing immensely in power. He would have to look into this technique in the future, it would no doubt prove invaluable to him as leader. Step two and three would definitely go hand in hand.
Step three, he would need to acquire money in order to purchase training equipment for himself and his people. This would be the most difficult step, as his people didn’t work for money but instead worked to provide services to their villages. Therefore, he would need to find a different way to make money, perhaps he could be paid a sum of currency by others in order to use his own personal services. This could work, but it would be exploitive in nature, and against his oath as Guru. Thus it would be out of the question. Donations however would not be, he could request donations and use those for the things he needed. That could work.
But one step at a time, Param knew what he needed to do and how he needed to do it. He released his mind as if sensing energy, and soon he was made aware of every soul on Namek. Just a floating mass of random energy signatures all mixing together. As he focused his mind, the floating mass separated into two spheres, a blue one representing sentient life, and a red one representing animals. As he focused more, each sphere separated into more and more until he could see everyone and every animal on the planet. The more he focused the more separated the sphere’s became until he could clearly see every sphere as an individual. Each one had a group of separate spheres inside, like a separate universe filled with galaxies, each galaxy filled with stars, each star representing a different memory, a different thought, a different action.
Of course this was simply a visualization, in reality he was looking at the mental energies given off by these entities. Thus brighter spheres represented more intellectual or thoughtful individuals.
Param closed his eyes and searched through the hundreds of thousands of individual Namekians until his found the one belonging to his personal guard Liam. He allowed his mind to fall into Liam’s as a person dives into a pool of water. Soon he was hearing Liam’s voice in his own head.
“Damn, my feet are killing me. Why is it that Param gets to sit on his royal arse all day long doing nothing, and I have to stand all day doing nothing! This sucks.”
“Liam, you and Jarel come and sit down. I doubt we’ll be visited any time today. You’ve stood long enough.” Param spoke into the water, and immediately there was stumbling outside as both Jarel and Liam ran into the elder’s throne room to see Param sitting on his throne meditating.
“Guru? Did you say something?” Liam said outloud.
“As a matter a fact I did not. But the fact that you heard me tells me I succeeded. Please sit.”
Liam looked amazed at Param’s new ability and sat. Jarel following him not knowing what the hell had just transpired between Param and Liam.
Param’s mind widened and he spoke to his kitchen staff requesting that tea be brought out to Liam and Jarel. This small task of speaking to multiple people was done by Param grouping all of their spheres into one and speaking into the collective ‘pool’. In this way he could hear all thoughts, but they were all jumbled. He had done it, in what had been a three day training session was finally over. Param had learned how to speak and listen to minds. Now he had to train and see how far he could spread his mind, and learn how to tap into the deepest parts of a person’s being to read their weaknesses from the inside out, learn of their strengths, and pick a person a part before ever speaking a word. This new skill would prove absolutely invaluable to Param!
OOC: Zeni and Telepathy please.
