Serori walked into the dojo, surprised to see Komatsuna already there. She was even more surprised to see the huge sword in his hands, and a similar, if slightly smaller sword, on his back. He was swinging it around, but it didn't look like what Serori thought using sword would be like. It looked graceful. She waited for Komatsuna to finish, and then approached. "Oh, hi Serori. I thought that since you showed me some of the things you had learned, I would teach you some swordplay. I got you a sword." He indicated the sword on his back. "Oh, how much did it cost?" Serori started to get out her zeni, but Komatsuna laughed "don't worry about it, my dad is a weaponsmith, he made it because I asked him to." He handed the sword in its sheath to Serori. It felt pretty light, and had a strap to keep it on her back. "Its a katana. I thought it would be best for you, since you are big on your martial arts. I made the strap for your sheath, so when you wear it, it won't hinder your movements." Serori pulled the katana out of its sheath. It was very sleek, and shined beautifully. Serori looked up at Komatsuna. "Thank you." Komatsuna shrugged, obviously embarassed. "Its no big deal, again, my father is a weaponssmith, so it was no big." Serorir noticed him blush, and wondered what was going on, but pushed the thought to the back of her head. "Shall we begin?" Komatsuna rebounded. Serori nodded, and began her usual stretches. "Actually, with swords, you'll want to do a different set of stretches, since you are using different muscles. Follow my lead, please." Komatsuna led her through a series of stretches that were supposed to help better for sword work. When they were done, Komatsuna picked his sword back up. Serori had already put her sword on her back, strap over her shoulder. Komatsuna was right, there was hardly a difference. The strap was tight enough that there was no excess movement, so she could probably do a flip, and be fine. She just needed to make sure that she didn't land on her back, or at least while the sword was in the sheath.
Serori pulled the katana out, and held it in both hands, like Komatsuna was doing. Komatsuna did a quick thought check. "I think you'd better stay in the back and watch, first. That way neither of us will get hurt." Serori put her sword back, and walked to the back of the room. Turning toward the front, Komatsuna called out "Ready?" "Ready," replied Serori. Komatsuna began. To Serori, it looked like he was just doing forms, using the sword instead of punching or blocking. While she was watching him, Serori's mind was trying to pull her attention to something. Something was wrong, and she couldn't figure out what it was. Then, as Komatsuna did a 360 degree turn, that's when she saw. Komatsuna didn't have a tail. 'That's odd,' She thought, 'He lives on Vegeta he has a Saiyan name, dresses like a Saiyan, and even looks like a Saiyan. So where is his tail?' She noticed something else, what her mind had been pulling at the most. She couldn't feel his powerlevel. Now this was definitely odd, because she had been able to feel the powrlevel of the humans back on Earth, and the Saiyans on Vegeta. She could even feel some very high powerlevels around the city, and she planned to check those out later. She decided she would ask him after the training.
Komatsuna finished up his form. He turned to Serori. "Ready to try it out?" he asked. Serori nodded, and stepped out into the middle of the floor. She took out her katana, took a deep breath, and began. step out, block up, parry swing through right. Lunge forward, swing in front for a block. Turn left, block block block, swing. Kick at chest height. Stab back, at waist height, turn left again, block, swing swing swing. Slash diagonal, kick...was it left or right? She assumed he had been kicking at a hand holding a sword so she chose her left. Swing again...her memory was starting to falter. What did she do next? She faltered, then remembered the spin that Komatsuna had done. She spun 360 degrees, did another lunge forward, then turned to her left once more. Kick forwards, turn sideways and kick, swing through again. Block, Block, Swing, kick, and she was done.
Komatsuna clapped. "Very good. That was almost perfect." Serori smiled, glad for the praise. "If you'll do that ever day, then you'll get good really fast. You might be able to get as good as me in no time." Serori smiled again. "Now, I'm going to show you whats its like to hit another sword, or have a sword hit yours. Hold your sword in an upward block position." Serori did this, and Komatsuna stepped forward, swinging his sword down. It hit Serori's, and she dropped it, with a cry of shock. It had hurt, and was not at all what she had been expecting. Komatsuna knew that was what would happen, so he was able to pull back the blow before any damage was done. "Hurt did it?" Serori nodded, slightly abashed, and more than a little angry at him. Couldn't he have warned her? "That wasn't even a full power swing. I wanted you to feel that, so you'd be prepared if you ever have to use your sword against a competent swordsman. Now, pick your katana up, and do it again. This time, you're prepared, and should be able to completely block my swing. Ready?" Serori held up her Katana again, tensing her arm muscles. Komatsuna swung down once more, and this time, there was a less harsh clang, and his sword bounced right off. Serori looked amazedly at her katana. It was so much smaller than Komatsuna's, she thought it would have just broke. Komatsuna smiled, and said "that felt better, didn't it?" Serori nodded. "Now, I want you to swing sideways, as hard as you can, at me. Don't worry, I've been training all my life, so you probably won't be able to get through." Serori took this as a challenge, and when Komatsuna was ready, swung hard at the side he was blocking from. There was anothe harsh clang, and the vibrations through her arms made her drop the katana again. This was a different feel than blocking, but she was sure she'd be able to get the hang of it. "Very good," Komatsuna said. "Even though you dropped your sword, I could feel the strength with which you swung. You're definitely going to be a good swordswoman." Serori took the praise, and nodded. Komatsuna rolled his shoulders. "Want to try slow sparring with the swords?" Serori nodded, and Komatsuna explained. He was going to swing at her slowly, so she'd know where to block, then halfway through the swing, would push it to regular power, and finish the swing. Then, he wanted Serori to swing at him, full speed and power. He assured her she wouldn't be able to hit him. Serori had her doubts, but was going to give it her best.
They bowed, and both put up defensive stances. Komatsuna swung at her right, and she blocked. She didn't drop her katana, and, feeling proud, took a step forward and swung swiftly at Komatsuna's right. He blocked, and Serori was forced to take a step back, but thought to use the bounce off to start the momentum for a leftward swing. Komatsuna managed to block it, and swung going down at Serori's head. She put up an upward block, and Komatsuna came around the right. They continued sparring like this, Komatsuna speeding up slightly as they went. Serori didn't notice, until she realised that they were both sparring at about a regular speed, slightly less than sparring with martial arts (Komatsuna didn't want to hurt her). She was blocking and attacking at a pretty constant speed, Komatsuna wasn't slowing down the first half of his swings. Then Serori remembered the form, and, after doing a block and parry, making sure his sword was on her right, she kicked out, disarming him. Komatsuna was stunned, and Serori held the katana to his neck. "I think I win this round," she laughed, and sheathed her katana. Komatsuna rubbed his neck. He really hadn't seen that coming, and should be proud of his student, and he was. Very proud. This was her first day weilding a sword, after all. He picked up his sword, and sheathed it in a side sheath. He turned to Serori. "That was very very good. You caught me by surprise. You're a very fast learner." "Thanks."
They walked out of the dojo together. Trying to make small talk, Serori asked, "Why don't you have a tail? You are a Saiyan, aren't you? You look like one." Komatsuna skipped a beat in his step, but it was barely noticeable. "I'm a half Saiyan. My dad was a human, and fell in love with a Sayain woman. They got married, but my mom died giving birth to me." Serori was taken aback. A half Saiyan? Could they hide there powerlevels? Serori knew practically nothing about her own race, so she asked. "Can Saiyans hide their power levels? I can't seem to feel yours." Komatsuna's fists clinched, and he blushed again. "I...I-I have to go. I think I left, um, I have things to do." He walked quickly away, leaving Serori standing alone, wondering what she had done.
Serori pulled the katana out, and held it in both hands, like Komatsuna was doing. Komatsuna did a quick thought check. "I think you'd better stay in the back and watch, first.
