The crowd roared in applause as Jeff Phoenix landed another dangerous jump on a motorcycle. His theme music could be heard through large speakers placed throughout the stadium, though the cheers of the thousands of people somewhat masked the sounds. Jeff Phoenix was currently on a stunt tour through different cities. The city he was now performing for was the last one on his list: Satan City.
"Another death-defying leap, ladies and gentlemen! It looks as if Jeff is going for yet another! What stunt will he pull off next...?" Jeff revved up his motor and began speeding towards the ramp. His motorbike rolled up the large ramp and rode off the edge, soaring into the air. He angled his jump so that he did a double backflip in mid-air before landing. "A double backflip! Man, this guy is something else! Is there any trick he can't do??" Jeff heard the announcer's enthusiastic commentary and took it as a personal challenge. The crowd wanted to see a trick that no one could land... And Jeff wanted to land it. He charged yet again towards the ramp and flew off the front of it. In mid-air, he let go of the handlebars and did a somersault, sitting back on the motorbike just in time to stick the landing. "Unbelievable!! I've never seen a trick like that ANYWHERE, ladies and gentlemen! Let's hear it for Jeff Phoenix!!" The crowd roared louder than ever as Jeff dismounted his bike and took off his helmet, revealing his messy, spiked blonde hair. Beads of sweat rolled down his face as he took off his leather gloves. He raised his hands up and pumped up the crowd further before throwing the gloves into the audience as souvenirs to the lucky people who caught them. He then gave a final bow before walking off to the backstage area, his successful show done.
He arrived in the VIP area, a few fans who obtained VIP passes awaiting him, both males and females. "Mr. Phoenix! Sign my poster!" "Please, Jeff Phoenix! Can you give me a kiss??" Jeff was a bit overwhelmed, but he couldn't let his fans down. "Alright, alright, alright. Settle down, guys. There's plenty of me to go around!" He smirked and signed a few autographs, blowing a kiss to the rabid female who asked for one. The girl fainted and was helped back to the public area while Jeff retreated to his room. The room was completely silent, minus the muffled crowd that could still be heard outside. He casually walked over to his couch and reached into a minifridge, pulling out a Doctor Mountain, his favorite soft drink. He cracked it open and took a drink, sighing contently at his successful show. After relaxing for a few minutes, he heard his own theme music play from his cell phone, which was sitting at his desk. He had it set as his ringtone, so hearing it meant he was getting a call. He stood up and walked to the ringing phone. When he picked it up, he observed the caller ID, which read "Dan Smith". Dan Smith was Jeff's agent, and was in charge of setting up his shows. He flipped open the phone and answered the call. "Phoenix here. What up, D?" Phoenix always called Dan "D". It was sort of an inside thing between them...
"Jeffy, baby! I was watching from the VIP box, bro. Awesome show, man, you really killed it this time! And that aerial somersault at the end? Where the hell did that come from?? I woulda charge double on the tickets if I had known you'd be pulling THAT off!" Jeff laughed at his agent's praise. "Haha, thanks man! I like throwing a bit of unexpected Phoenix flare at 'em every once in a while, you know? Keep things hot." Dan laughed and replied. "Haha, you're a good man, Jeff! A real crowd pleaser, you are. So, you gonna head home for a while before your next gig?" Jeff took another sip of his soda while he listened to his agent talk, then responded. "Yeah, I should visit my mom. It's like I barely see her any more, man. You understand." Dan replied: "Haha, yeah man, I got you. So listen, I got a spot open for West City in a few weeks and I'll see what I can do. You dig?" Jeff grinned at the thought and answered: "West City it is! Let's give 'em a show, brother!" "Haha, that's what I like to hear! Listen, I'll talk to ya' later. Take care, champ!" "Alright, seeya!" Jeff chuckled as the two both hung up. He and his agent were quite close, and considered each other to be best friends.
Jeff wiped his face with a cloth and finished his soda before heading off to his shower. He was going to hit the road again in a few hours and he wanted to be fresh. After showering and packing up, he was on the road back home to Central City. It was around an hour and a half away, and Jeff ended up sleeping on the way there...
"Wake up, sir! Please!" Jeff awoke to his chauffeur shaking him violently. Jeff rose and blinked a few times, looking at his driver who awoke him. "W-what is it..?" The driver simply pointed out Jeff's window, speechless. Jeff scrambled out of his seat and ran out of the car to the edge of the road. A large green sign was standing over a cliffside that read "Welcome to Central City!", though this was no warm welcome. The entire city was destroyed and in ruin, black smoke rising from the large mounds of rubble that once stood. Jeff was speechless, an expression of utmost confusion and horror making it's way across his face. He clenched his fist and without a second though, jumped down the sheer cliff. He banged himself up on the way down, but persisted in running into the ruins of the city, tears making their way down his face. He sprinted as fast as he could towards his mom's house, noticing the burnt corpses that lined the sides of the streets. Soon, he arrived in front of what was left of his mother's home. It was completely destroyed, and a few flames remained burning in the ruins.
Jeff fell to his knees and punched the ground he was crouching on. "No... No...! No no NO!! NOOOO!!" Jeff's Desperate Focus activated as a faint red aura began forming around him. Though he was quite strong, he didn't have much of a grasp on his inner Ki. He punched the ground a second time, this time creating a noticeable crack in the sidewalk. Tears began to fall to the concrete as he wept for his home town and his mother. He sat there for a good five minutes before noticing the crack under his fist... He stared at it for a few seconds before hearing a voice from behind him. "Hey, man... You look like you don't belong around him... Why don't you get up slowly and give us your wallet."
Jeff slowly stood up and gritted his teeth. He turned around to see three thugs holding knives and poised to attack. "Hey, you're Jeff Phoenix, aren't you! Haha, score! Hey man, you must be loaded!" The two other thugs laughed at their opportunity to mug one of the wealthiest men around. Jeff slowly lowered his hands to his side and looked down, refusing to give up his wallet. "Hey, what's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" The thugs slowly approached Jeff with their knives, threatening to attack him. "My mother... Lived there..." Jeff said, the sound of rage showing through in his voice. "Awwww, does Jeffy Weffy miss his mommy?" The three thugs laughed hysterically at Jeff, who was burning with anger.
Suddenly, Jeff dashed forward, punching directly into the face of the leader of the small gang of thugs. The mugger fell to the floor, losing consciousness instantly. The other two yelled out and lunged at Jeff, who turned to deliver and hard kick to the stomach of one, and then spun to unleash a right hook to the side of the other's head. It was over in five seconds, with Jeff standing over the bodies of the three men. This inspired Jeff... He would protect this city from gangs that took advantage of it's ruin, and help to rebuild it no matter what the cost. From that day forth, Jeff would be known as Champion of Central City. He would train hard and increase his strength as he sought out survivors of the city, defeating any thugs that may try to take advantage of them. Because of the advanced technology, workers would soon begin to rebuild the various buildings with the support of Jeff Phoenix.
