Fantastic Errands (Awaiting judgement)

"'Clear out the aphids, Haidelis. You're in charge of keeping the sacred vegetables healthy, Haidelis...'"

Haidelis Gier, before he was known as King Kai of the North, was a glorified errand boy on the Supreme Kai's planet. He tossed aside the broken carapace of an aphid and stared up at the tomato plants with a sneer. "Oh, sure. Send the little guy to deal with the bugs. They're only twice as big as me, and the rest of the Kaioshin could just step on them; clearly I'm the person for the job." One of the bugs burst from the leaves. Haidelis quickly grabbed it by the antennae and gave it a solid punch in the head before swinging it around and around and throwing it clear over the plants. "Sure, the aphids have started to eat from the sacred vegetables and have become too strong for our pesticides. But that doesn't mean they're worth my time."

A particularly giant one came up behind him. Haidelis spun around and kicked the monster bug square in the jaw (or whatever was the insect equivalent of a jaw). "I mean, really. I can sense these things from a mile away." A particularly significant statement, given Haidelis's size. "They don't know how to hide their power levels; it's like looking for lit candles in a dark room."

He went from row to row, kicking, punching and suplexing his way through the little green insects. Finally, he was down to the last one. "End of the line, little bug." The aphid panicked, latched onto the nearest tomato. Haidelis growled. "Don't you dare eat that tomato, buster!" The aphid hesitantly put its mouth closer to the fruit. Haidelis waggled his finger. "I'm warning you!" A pause followed. Neither Kaioshin or insect moved. Then, suddenly, the aphid began to eat with a frenzy of movement and scattered tomato parts. It burrowed into the fruit and disappeared. Haidelis cracked his little knuckles. "It's your own grave you're digging, bub. Time to... huh?"

The tomato began to jiggle and rumble, bursting open in a mess of red pulp to reveal that the aphid had grown. And was still growing. He almost got to six inches high before he finally began to stop. Haidelis rubbed a finger under the bridge of his nose defiantly. "So what? You're giant, big deal. It's not like you'll be able to hurt a Kaiosh-oof!" The aphid swung its front leg, catching Haidelis in the stomach and sending him flying all the way back a row. The Kaioshin recovered in air, sending a wave of Ki energy the monster's way. The giant aphid knocked the small yellow bolt away and hopped after the little fighter. It landed straight on Haidelis, pinning the Kaioshin to the dirt.

"Aggressive little thing, aren't ya? Overloading on Ki energy tends to do that to creatures." Gritting his teeth, Haidelis flexed his muscles and strained. With a titanic effort, he managed to push the aphid's legs up with his arms and force himself up, first to a seated position, then by tucking a leg underneath him, he pushed until he was standing. "Kyaaah!" A sudden spike in power level, and the aphid was in the air. Haidelis leapt after it, planting both fists in its thorax and shooting it even higher in the air. "Follow it up!" His body seemed to fade, then vanish entirely, only to reappear by the aphid's side. Up in the air, Haidelis kicked the monster in the face, sending it flying in another direction. He faded again, appeared beneath the monster and grabbed a spindly green leg in each hand. "You're finished!" With a high-pitched roar, Haidelis swung downwards, throwing the monster to the ground as hard as he possibly could. The crater the monster created was only about as large as a molehill turned into the ground.

Looking at his handiwork from the edge of the crater, Haidelis smacked his hands together to get dirt off of them. "We really need to make stronger pesticides. Right. Time to go see where else I'm needed." Haidelis laughed to himself. "Maybe if I'm lucky, they'll promote me to dealing with rats!"
