(This takes place shortly before “The New Recruit” and will explain how Cal’s spacepod got damaged.)
Altitude: 300 Nautical miles…200 nautical miles....
The vis-screen flashed as Calias’s spacepod approached the planet Kold’s surface.
Like most adult male Tyber-jins, Calias was to be sent to planet Kold, the main base of the World Trade Organization. Cal had recently made a job application and was scheduled for an appointment with some sort of test he would have to pass in order to become an official member, thus, he was heading to Kold, specifically the Kingdom of Ica, its capital.
At the moment, he had been passing over a treacherous region known as the “Cataclysmic Glaciers”….
Altitude: 100 nautical miles, the screen read.
BAM! The pod shook with the sound of an explosion.
“What the heck!?” he yelled to himself. “No turbulence, not even on Kold, could be that bad!”
BAM! BAM! The quaking and noises continued several more times.
“That’s it! I’m getting out there!”
Cal checked the autopilot, made sure it had the right coordinates, and slammed the door switch. As he looked at the pod from the outside, he thought, This thing isn’t going to survive another un-cushioned landing.
At that moment, a series of flashes- Ki blasts- descended from over the pod, narrowly missing it. As Calias looked up, he realized that there was a powerful concentration of Ki directly above him. I am going to kill whoever that is, he thought.
As he leapt out of the spacepod, Cal threw a hook(punch) at the entity. Once it connected and the subject fell ground ward, Calias glimpsed it and could’ve sworn it was some kind of Icer. Following it toward the ground, he got a better look at it and found that it was purple and white, just like an Icer, but it looked like it had stepped off the set of a Ridley Scott movie, also with dozens of scars and its tail cut off. Not to mention, their power level was approximately 6,000.
After several tens of seconds, the strange Icer recovered, pointed their finger at Calias, and sent a barrage of Ki blasts his way. Once he slammed them out of the way, the Icer stopped and, with Cal flying at them, punched him in the face. The Icer followed to begin a series of attacks, but Calias recovered and threw an energy wave into his face. Before he could fly away again, Cal grabbed the Icer by the arms, pulled him back while lifting himself up, and drove his knees into their chest, sending him the rest of the way into the ground.
Once the strange Icer got back up and Calias descended to the ground, he asked, “Who are you, and why are you attacking me?” As could probably be expected, the psychotic Icer just bellowed fired a barrage of blasts at him, which he swiftly and expertly deflected.
Clearly, the Icer wasn’t going to win in the current form, because he started yelling, his aura exploding outward. Calias lunged at him, but not in time to stop him transforming. His power level had grown to approximately 7,500, but his stature had shrunken to around four feet tall, his features becoming relatively blank, his crest replaced by a sort of bulb shape, his horns and spikes replaced by nothing, but he retained the scars and lack of a tail.
On the up side, Cal still managed to punch him a quarter mile away. By the time he recovered, Calias was about to head butt him, though he caught and stopped that one, causing Calias to jump several feet back.
Quickly, they both lunged at each other, bringing them into one of those classic close-quarters combats.
This guy’s pretty strong, Calias thought to himself.
Eventually, the Icer made the mistake of punching to the left with his right arm. While Calias parried with his right arm, he punched the Icer in the side with his left. Calias took the opportunity of him being fazed, grabbing his right arm, pulling him around like a shot-put, and threw him off into the distance, basically ending the battle with him.
“F…Finally,” he partially remarked.
And with that, he turned around to the Kingdom of Ica. Hopefully, the spacepod had landed on one of the landing cushions.
