Alana smiled as she walked along the earthen path of a forest. She had slipped into the mortal world to have a little fun and to see what she could get into. It could be so boring at home with the same old people coming and going, going and coming over and over again. She needed some fun people to play with. So slipping from the nether world into the mortal world would provide just that. Especially since this area held some of the more....primitive people.
These people believed in magic, superstitions and monsters. So she fit the description well enough. But for the moment she looked as human as could be attained by her kind. Though the red tinted skin and purple lips didn't help. Nor the small horns on her forehead. She stopped at the end of the path and looked over the small village with a grin. Now for the fun to begin. Something easy and simple is all it would take. So she let her ki rise just enough to allow herself to hover.
Then she moved forward around the edge of the village and began to sing softly. Drawing the villagers out and closer. The reactions were instant upon seeing the floating beauty. Her eyes held a glow as she channeled her ki to make them brighter and stopped in the center of the village. She watched them gather, awed and cautious. When they were all there she gave a small burst of power rise and cause a light wind gust. " Behold your mistress of the night and bow before her! " She said in a haunting toned voice.
She did her homework on this. The reaction was instant as all that was gathered bowed and began chanting in their ritual chants the praise of their night mistress. A goddess from the dark world that created the village in which they lived and protected them from invaders. All they knew was red skin, woman and magical powers. She let them chant for a few moments before letting another soft burst of ki rush out. " Silence! Your mistress wishes to speak of your lack of tribute. "
She watched as the chanting stopped and the village leader looked up only to her feet. Daring not to look upon her face directly. " Mistress...we have performed tribute as been decreed since our pact. What has displeased you? " Oh this was good indeed. She was starting to get excited now. So she spoke lightly this time. " Your tributes have been less than worthy of my blessings. You have been giving the second best of your harvest and catch at the start of each season instead of the best and first. Are my blessings no longer desired so that you would blatantly disrespect the tribute? "
Her ki had rose with each sentence to that most were hugging the ground from the force of the wind she generated. Chanting protection and forgiveness all at the same time. Oh so perfect indeed. It was getting hard now to keep her composure. The elder managed to look back up at her feet, scared and with a begging tone to his voice. " Please great mistress forgive us. It has been hard of late for the best things to be offered to your divine blessing. Please great mistress do not punish us. " She smiled to herself and decided to give them a big scare.
She floated up and waved her hand at the blocked river just below their village. This in turn of course would increase water flow for the crops, increase water supply and fishing. But the force and sound would scare them as she landed and glared. " I give you a new chance to prove worthy of my blessings. See to it they are not wasted. " Her ki burst forward again as she spun causing a whirlwind. Then gave her the distraction as she bolted skyward. When the villagers could see again she was gone. She on the other hand landed a mile or so away laughing. That was indeed fun. The faces they had, the fear, the respect. If only everything was so wonderfully simple. And with a few last chuckles she returned home.
