Ruto stands 5ft tall and like all saiyans, he has a a dark brown monkey tail. The young saiyan has two sets of clothing, one for his life as a civilian and the other set for his life as a martial artist. His civilian clothing consists of black jeans, black nike sneakers, a black t-shirt and a hoodie that is always open revealing the black t-shirt. His martial artist attire consists of a dark blue gi with a black t-shirt underneath it. He also wears black shoes, a black martial arts belt around his waist and a black wristband on each arm.

16 years ago, a young married couple on Metropolis Island who both happened to be saiyan human hybrids tried having a baby. Kasai, the wife gave birth to a baby boy and unfortunately, he ended up dying due to a fatal heart condition that he was born with. Kasai's obstetrician knew that the fatal heart condition that the baby died from could only happen from bad genes or drug usage during pregnancy and since he knew that Kasai didn't do drugs, it had to be bad genes. Worst part is the fact that there were studies that proved that parents who gave birth to babies with that heart condition had a 95% chance of having their next baby born with this disease. The obstetrician then recommended that they should see Dr. Seikatsu, a talented geneticist that was usually hired by really rich people to make their unborn children "perfect" by giving them more desirable traits and by removing unwanted traits. And was known for making bio-androids for the government.
The couple said that they would think about it and Ryo, Kasai's husband named their dead child Hiro before burying him. For the next couple of weeks, the couple gave it some thought about what they should do next since they figured Dr. Seikatsu was going to charge them an exuberant amount of money for fixing their problem and it really didn't help that they were in the middle class. The idea of adoption did come up, but they were afraid that they might treat the adopted child differently than a child that they made. The two decided that they should at least talk to Dr. Seikatsu before making any decisions since they figured that they could try to set up a payment plan that would take many many years to pay off.
The couple visited Dr. Seikatsu who appeared to be a young woman in her early 20's which made the young couple question her credentials. Dr. Seikatsu told them that she was actually a human based android and had 50 years of experience in genetics. The two told told the doctor their problem and were willing to do a payment plan for whatever steep price she might charge them with. Dr. Seikatsu told them to send her their family history and a DNA sample from both of them in order to find a solution to the problem so that she could determine the price. Ironically, she was willing to do this at no charge.
After getting what she needed, Dr. Seikatsu studied the DNA and their family medical history before calling them back. She then explained that the genetic traits that caused the the fatal heart condition all came from the human side of their DNA and that she could eliminate the traits that caused it for a hefty free, or she could use their saiyan DNA to create a baby that was a pure blooded saiyan for free. The couple was surprised about the free option and naturally asked why that option was free. Dr. Seikatsu explained to them that such a thing had never been done before and that if it were successful, she would become even more famous within the scientific community. However there was two conditions with the first one being that she was to be their future child's medical doctor for life. The second condition was giving her the power to reveal and publish the child's medical documents so that there would be plenty of data for the scientific community to see and analyze.
The couple agreed with making their child a pure saiyan and for a year and three months, Dr. Seikatsu used their saiyan DNA to make the pure saiyan fetus from scratch. After that was done, the fetus was placed into Kasai and 9 months later, Kasai gave birth to a baby boy she named Ruto, after her saiyan father. During the years that followed, Ruto lived a normal life with Kasai staying home to take care of the child and Ryo out for days at a time competing in martial arts tournaments to make money since he was a powerful martial artist.
As agreed, Dr. Seikatsu preformed a checkup every three months to monitor Ruto closely and took blood from him every checkup. Every once in a while, Ruto's progress and picture appeared in a science journal giving details on how well he was doing. When was around other children, he fought played fight with them in order to help satisfy his saiyan urge to fight, something that both of his parents lacked even though Ryo was a martial artist. However, things became very serious after Ruto accidentally broke his best friend's nose when he was six. While Ruto was overall a good kid, the fact that he did something like that concerned his parents and Ryo's solution was to teach him martial arts in order to develop self discipline. Ryo taught the young saiyan how to fight and like all saiyans, he was a a natural, but more importantly, he began to develop self discipline and was able to satisfy his saiyan urges by fighting his father and competitively in tournaments meant for kids.
However, Ryo didn't teach Ruto how to use ki until he was 10 since he didn't feel right teaching someone in the single digits something that could easily kill someone if misused. Ruto naturally mastered his energy easily and learned the kamehameha wave as his first technique. He then learned how to fly and how to use zanzoken with the last of the two technique taking the least amount of time to master since it only involved moving at high speeds. Now Ruto is 14 years old and continues going to school like any other child since the law requires him to go. While the young saiyan is a bright student, he wants to become a martial artist like his father.
