Deep in the beautiful, glistening green ocean’s horizon. A green man among many floated inches above the waters; his legs were crossed together and hands joined and rested on his lap. It was time for a different style of training. One Namekians were accustomed to do. Meditation was a difficult and tedious task that required patience and diligence. He had been in this meditation state for about a minute now, and he wanted to stop about a minute ago. Bass was an impatient namek, and this was a true challenge for him. It was anyone’s guess whether he’d brake or continue the process. It was boring and dull, he couldn’t stand just floating around doing nothing.
The water beneath him would slightly move with the energy his body was emitting. His bluish white aura had been surrounded him elegantly and calmly. His eyes were closed and his face calm, but he was constantly tempted to open his eyes. All he could think about was getting over with this. He didn’t even understand how this method of training improved the namekians abilities if there was no fighting involved. He felt he was wasting his time; yet, he couldn’t help but feel he was letting his naïve thoughts get in the way of improvement and thus he decided to keep meditating just in case it did accomplish something.
Maybe Bass was going about it the wrong way… Perhaps meditation didn’t simply consist in the act of sitting and remaining completely quiet. There had to be something he was supposed to be doing –but what? It’d be easier if he just asked, but it would’ve been embarrassing and humiliating to admit that he as a namekian did not know how to meditate properly. If he asked, he’d be ridiculed and his father would add yet another reason to second mind his place in the warrior clan –much less be its leader.
No, Bass would never admit it. He would have to figure it out all on his own. After all, it was a namek who discovered this all on his own and he had no help because he was the only being who knew of such a method. If that namekian could’ve done it, then perhaps so could Bass. A wise man once said: “It isn’t that I’m that smart, it’s just I stick with the problem longer.” That’s it. The solution was a natural answer that would come all on its own, all Bass had to do was sit there and think –and eventually he would go through some kind of epiphany.
It seemed like hours had passed and Bass managed to maintain the same state without moving an inch. After a moment he just stopped thinking and his mind went blank. He couldn’t think of anything even if he tried; or rather, he hadn’t realized that his mind was currently thoughtless. It just was. He probably forgot he existed; it was like he was unconscious while in a conscious state. His breathing was short and thin, soundless.

Bass had been meditating for quite some time. He didn’t know how much time exactly and he couldn’t remember exactly when he began. But his concentration was lost by the presence of a red object that began to surface from deep inside the Emerald Ocean. The monster was enormous and its red claws reached out of the water, attempting to clutch the namekian. The sound of the disturbed passive waters awoke the young namekian. His eyes opened as his aura blinked out. Bass quickly uncrossed his legs and rose higher into the sky –avoiding the beast’s attack.
The red pincer missed and made a snapping sound as they closed tightly. Bass glared at the oversized crab as it thrust another claw towards the airborne namekian. Bass could’ve easily fled from his attacker, but he decided he needed a bit of excitement after so much boring silence. “Alright, you wanna dance? Let’s dance!” he declared –as if the crab could actually understand him –much less answer. The pincers were open and ready to engage in another attack, the snapping noises were threatening, but as the crab thrust both once more Bass charged in directly.
It was a simple battle; as soon as he got through the claws the crab was wide open. Bass took his time and stopped inches away from the crab’s face –between its long stretched out eyes. The namekian could’ve damaged the vision, but he would feel bad about it and launch a punch directly at its face. His green arm cocked back and hands clenched –every finger curled down with the thumb locking over it in place. The impact of the attack pushed the entire beast a few feet away, back in the water. Bass was grinning widely. He was pretending his opponent was actually a very experienced fighter whom was known throughout the entire galaxy.
The young namekian was so focused on the crab’s profile he didn’t notice the claws surrounding him; and so the pincer snapped shut. “AUGH!” he screamed. With his mouth wide open, the crab retracted its claw back into the water, which got the namekian a mouthful without having the time to get air first. Bass flinched in paralysis to the sharp pain. The crab wasn’t very strong but its claws were mighty if they ever caught you. Bass soon got over it and struggled to break free. The giant crab seemed to be sinking deeper into the water, drowning Bass in the process.
Bass focused his energy and his aura began to flare wildly as he slowly forced the beast’s claws to open. The namekian finished opening it with a soundless kiai under the water that pushed the pincer away from him. He then immediately made way and began to propel himself upwards towards the surface. The crab hadn’t given up though and followed the namekian with its claws very close behind. Bass snarled at the persistent animal and turned on his back while still rising urgently for air. He extended his right arm forward with palm open towards the crab and held the wrist with his left hand.
A blue orb of energy began to form inches from his hands as he charged up and energy wave and then unleashed it on the sea critter. The blast didn’t only propel Bass out of the water, but it completely destroyed the crab and shattered its hard shell into pieces. Bass floated mid-air, taking deep breathes and coughing out all the water he was forced to drink. But it wasn’t time for rest as multiple crabs rose from the ocean floor to defend its fallen comrade and avenge its death.
Bass was surrounded, with dozens of claws flailing in the air, clapping and snapping. Bass’ white clothes were slightly torn and his skin was reddened from that fierce pincer he let capture him. The posse of crabs thrust their claws towards the enemy in the vein attempt on catching him. But Bass took them as a game and maneuvered around them –taking the long shots for amusement. The namekian closed up on one of them and punched on its hard shell, although he regretted it afterwards. The crab’s shell was extremely hard and it probably hurt the namekian more than it did the crab.
His eyes watered and his rage rose. Bass extended his hands and used his telepathic abilities to lift that same beast and tossed it towards the others. They made a nice splash but they were soon back for more. Bass smirked and charged his ki into both hands and launched simultaneous yellow orbs of energy at the assortment of sea critters, leading into a barrage. They weren’t strong enough to outright defeat them, but it was enough to crack their shells.
After the barrage, Bass catapulted himself towards the one of them with arms forward and fists clenched tightly. The shell had been weakened enough for Bass to pierce through the crab with his body. Now that he was in range, the other remaining crabs followed behind with their claws but Bass made the water around him rise and defend him like a shield. It didn’t stop their onslaught but it made it slower, giving him time to recover from his attack and move away.
Bass smirked once more. He was feeling artistic and made the water rise around him. The water then began to rotate around him at high speeds, narrowing towards the top. Bass had heard that highly pressured water was capable of piercing through anything. He was going to test it out. The namekian focused, trying to make it rotate faster and faster until he just couldn’t anymore. His veins were noticeable on his forehead. The crabs could only watch from below and Bass charged downward, resembling a drill. The crabs weren’t the ones to see stars though. Bass’ attack failed as the impact only made the water spread and Bass’ head hit the hard shell.
This meant two things. Either the water wasn’t rotating fast enough or the theory itself was a joke. Bass assumed the latter, since he was too proud of his own abilities to accept he just wasn’t enough. The namekian was getting bored now. The crabs were persistent as ever though. As the namekian finished rubbing the pain off his bald green head, he extended his arms forward and the crabs completely stopped. Bass raised his hands to the sky and so did the crabs. When he joined his hands together, the crabs grouped up in the sky forming a big sphere with claws sticking out.
Bass wasn’t cruel in any way, but he didn’t really care for little thoughtless animals that attack someone during their training; although he still didn’t know how meditation helped a namekian get stronger without fighting. Finally Bass let go of his hold and charged his energy wave once more, exploding the assortment in the sky like fireworks. The young namekian contemplated about his method, thinking he might have acted a bit too cruel. But he got over it pretty fast and made his way back to more serious training.
