Serori wasn't going back into Saru city, not just yet. She'd have to eventually, in order to find her parents. She wasn't even sure what she was going to do if she did find them. They'd have a lot to talk about. But for now, she'd plan what to do, train, and meditate.
Komatsuna had shown Serori something interesting a few times. He had been able to channel Ki into his sword. Serori had seen it, but never attempted it. Komatsuna had explained the general principles, and had also explained that once there was Ki in the sword, the user could then release it in blasts, or slashes, or really however they wanted. He'd demonstrated, once, near her pod. Serori looked at the tree, which had been cut in two so long ago. She did not feel any pang of loss, nor any regret. He had been a hinderance, and nothing more. She was long over him. Maybe one day they would meet again, and if he was stronger, they would do battle. Then, Serori would vow never to see him again.
Serori did her usual warm up. Then she took the katana Komatsuna had given her. She had been practicing over the months, and felt she was pretty decent with it. She could shear through tree limbs like a hot knife through butter. But now she wanted to try something. Holding the katana in front of her, legs spread shoulder width, she closed her eyes, and focused. She could feel her Ki, surrounding her, begging to be used. But she was going to put it through the sword. She concentrated, pushing the Ki through her hands, into the leather handle. It was hard, and wasn't going anywhere, but she willed it forward. Gradually, slow as mollasses in the winter time, a little flowed into the sword. But this was all she could get. Still with her eyes closed, she swung the sword in a sideways motion, pushing the Ki out of the sword like she did with her hands. When she opened her eyes, all that was there to show her efforts was a few cut leaves off a nearby bush. She smiled anyways, pleased with her work. With a lot of practice over the next month, she might be able to get it.
After practicing with her sword, Serori went to go meditate. She had found a pond, which to her knowledge nobody knew about, and had taken to meditating next to it. She found the tranquil silence to be quite peaceful, and had been using these times to channel her own energy, organise her thoughts, and gain better control of her emotions. She had formed “doors” in her mind, where she put things she didn't want or need to remember. There were other doors, darker, more mysterious, but these she had made years ago, over many events, and had been locked, allowed no access by her mind. The unlocked doors, however, were free for her to use, to help stabilize or abuse different emotions. She knew, though, that by doing this, she was creating a different self. She was becoming a schizophrenic, and her other self had been becoming more evident in the past years. Leaving her home was the start of it, and it had shown up a few times since then, including in the destruction of the noodle shop. This had been the point of her many meditations, to be able to better control that side of her. She didn't need it coming out when it was not a vital time. She needed to be able to control it, let it out when she wanted it. By doing this, she could become stronger, using the anger and vengeance from this other self to strike down her foes with no mercy.
Meditating had also heightened Serori's senses of hearing. This is why her meditation was interrupted when she heard the slight crunch of a leaf by a very small furry foot, which would have been lost among most ears. She quickly looked up from where she was, found the direction of the source of sound, and quietly stalked over. There was a fox, hardly aware of her presence. Serori had been able to live off of small woodland creatures like these, as she was refusing to go into Saru city except for the utmost necessity. Without making a sound, she moved her hand up, ready to shoot a blast of ki at the fox, aimed at the temple...the fox turned around, saw her, and ran. 'Drat,' she thought, 'there goes food for tonite.' She thought nothing of it, and returned to her pod.
Weeks passed, Serori's constant training had paid off. Her emotions were readily available for anything she might need to use them for, and so was her other self, for the most part. She had created some makeshift gloves out of her old earth clothes for training, so she could “spar” with trees. Donning these, she walked over to a tree, and struck out. It didn't hurt, and thanks to the cloth, did not cut into her knuckles. Fump, fump, fump, she struck the tree multiple times, only making slight impressions on the bark. Then, with just a subtle shift in mind focus, she harvested the energy from her anger, and was quickly able to make short work of the tree. She smiled, blew off the dust on her gloves, and went back to the pod. In the past months, it had slowly turned into a kind of camp. She had a fire pit in front of her pod, a clothes line to hang washed clothes from, and the bushes helped to hide the whole thing.
She picked up her katana. Channeling Ki into it had become only slightly easier in the past few weeks, and now she was able to push more into it. She did this now, taking up the same position she had when she first tried it. She now kept her eyes open, able to focus Ki into the katana without needing as much concentration. She felt it flow through her body, down her arms, into her hands, and out into the blade. It was as if it was now just another ligament, an extension of the body. This is how Komatsuna told her it should feel, and she was proud she'd been able to teach herself this. When she had got as much Ki into it as she could, she held it there, feeling the power surge from the blade. She swung the blade over head, and down, forcing the energy out of the blade into a thin line, that went straight at a boulder, and split it in two. It was such a thin line of energy, that Serori at first thought the boulder had stopped it. When she walked up to investigate, she then noticed that it had indeed been cut right through. It was a paper thin cut, almost like a cheese wire. Serori was shocked. If this did the same thing to people, then it could be quite deadly.
She sheathed the katana, stepped back from the boulder to allow herself some room, slid the sheath to her side, and laid on her back, staring at the trees. It was a nice day, the clouds were huge and fluffy, the sky had a bright blue hue, almost akin to her aura, the son beat down on the ground, the wind made the grass dance its little jig. It was very peaceful, the perfect temperature for Serori. She closed her eyes to enjoy it before she began training her martial arts.
Serori caught herself falling asleep, scolded herself for being so clumsy. What if she'd been found? That wouldn't have been good at all. She quickly started to do her sit-ups. 1...2...3...4...As she continued counting in her head, she began to think. She'd come to Vegeta to find her parents. So, logically, the best place to start would be back in Saru City, get a blood test, and find out if any of her family was even still alive. Search them out, and then...well, Serori still hadn't thought that far yet. She continued her sit-ups, stopping at 500, flipped over onto her stomach, and began pushups. 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...and besides, who's to say they were still alive. Maybe they'd all died. Or what if they can't find them from my blood samples? This was going to be a hard task, but Serori's determination wouldn't let her stop just because of some stupid what ifs. She finished her pushups, at 450, and stood up. She stretched her back, breasts pushing against the front of her shirt, and rolled her shoulders, returning the katana to its original position on her back.
She squared her shoulders, and began a form she'd been working on for a while. It started off slow, picked up in the middle, three quarter point used the sword, and finished with a jumping lunge kick and a stab to the ground. She pulled her katana out of the ground, and wiped it off. She then went back to camp. She would go to Saru city tomorrow, and from there, let the search begin.
