Rensou had summoned his favored students to the desolate wastes known as the Scorched Plains, and they had answered his call. Feet he hovered above the cracked earth, straining against the weight of his newest training method.
"These," and he motioned with his hand, noticing the distinctive effort it took to move his arm in comparison to before, "reduce my fighting ability to a level resembling the two of you," and he lowered himself a bit too quickly with the Bukujutsu, the weight at his legs dragging him down. His body coiled, and tooth ground against tooth. Finally he stood.
Laiz and Dozah both smiled simultaneously as the more talkative Laiz expressed both their thought processes, ". . .and now it's skill against skill, wit against wit, Rensou Hiruen. Dozah, stand back." Energy crackled to life about Laiz, his blazing orange ki surging around his body as the ground compacted beneath his feet.
Rensou smiled, sliding slowly into his stance. . .damn, these blasted things were heavy! The thought of straining his body had always been a welcomed occurence, however, and he beckoned Laiz forth, ". . .the student can never defeat the master!" he challenged, and his instigation gave way to the unleashing of Laiz.
The zanzoken unavailable to his repetoire, Laiz was unable to approach Rensou undetected. Slowly, carefully he approached as predator sought to clash with predator as the aqua hue of Rensou's ki blasted against Laiz's own when the two met, fists delivered simultaneously and clashed between them.
The energy emanating from the meeting pound was nothing less of astounding, but Rensou managed to realize the stalemate quicker than his less seasoned training partner. He knew his ki reserves were lower, but the perfect opportunity to unleash the Tsurunoha presented itself.
In an instant the two orbs had crackled to life, one slashing against the jaw of Laiz with blunt trauma and the other sickeningly shocking his core with a body blow. Laiz stumbled back, clutching his stomach with blood trickling from his face.
Rensou stepped forward in pursuit, battering his opponent's legs with a sweep that knocked him off his feet. But Laiz recovered, catching himself with his hands and landing the first true blow to Rensou Hiruen he had managed since their meeting. Upward and out he thrusted with both legs, catching Rensou square in the throat with the two-fold kick.
Rensou's body was lifted from the ground, and he tumbled back down before landing hard against the stoney ground, his body bouncing once before settling. His wind still within his lungs, he threw momentum into his legs as he shot them forward from a laying position to bring himself back to his feet.
Laiz panted some five meters away from him, regaining his composure, but his laziness was rewarded as Rensou quickly drew his palms back and drawing the Tsurunoha orbs into them, combining the two forces in an instant and hurling the product forward with sheer might.
"TSURUHA! ! !"
Rensou's ki assault was too swift and Laiz was too tired, both men were skilled but Rensou's experience was too much for him. Sometimes it was best to ignore the bodies requests and press on, and Laiz took note of his sensei's resolve.
The energy caught him full on, engulfing him in a beautiful, shimmering blue and green wave that his arms struggled to brace against, but to no avail. His footing was jeopardized with a stumble and that was all it took. The tsunami from the Hiruen hands sent him tumbling back, defeated.
Rensou breathed deeply and smiled as Dozah clapped his hands and stepped before the sensei. "Surely you wouldn't deny me my chance?" he chuckled before his form blurred behind Rensou and he drilled an elbow into his spine. Paralyzed, Rensou fell to his knees and then to his hands, gasping for air. Laiz had, by this time, struggled to his feet.
"The students defeat the master, Rensou Hiruen," Laiz chuckled as Dozah crossed his long arms across his armored chest. Rensou smirked as his head lifted his onyx eyes to smirk at Laiz.
"The -student- defeats the master, Laiz Hurogi," and then he smiled at Dozah Kunaga broadly. "Next time, you're first. . .now, take me back to the pit and put me in the chamber. . ."
The students did what they were told, as good students should for a good sensei. Rensou Hiruen had trained them well, and because of that, they were beginning to train him with equality despite a gap in power that had existed before. . .only to be equalized by the miracle of the weighted bangles about his wrists and anklets above his boots.
