For an entire week Rensou had lain low with his acolytes by his side. Dozah and Laiz had insisted they accompany their friend, with the knowledge of eventual confrontation a selling point for Rensou. The last Hiruen had slain one of Saru's most important men, and Hunni's partners were not pleased to find the man deceased as they descended upon his mansion only hours after Rensou had done the deed. A casual business meeting had evolved quickly into an assembly of powerful men bent on exacting revenge for their loss. Profits, slaves, and power had all been robbed from their vast coffers, and Rensou Hiruen's head currently held a hefty bounty.
The three sat lazily about a fire, worn from the days training that had erupted out of sheer boredom. They ravenously tore at some form of meat with vicious jaws, as only Saiyan truly can. Like a pack of wolves they feasted, without a word spoken between them until Laiz took note of peculiar glint of sunlight. No flower nor tree reflected the rays of the two suns in such a manner. A scouter. A whisper left his lips.
“. . .company,” he drawled, casually, again, as only a Saiyan can in the face of what could be multiple men pursuing the trio of outlaws. Rensou and Dozah met his eyes as they continued their meal, and Laiz caught their plan. He too continued sating his greedy stomach as his eyes occasionally flitted upward to note the number and positioning of the men who had quickly surrounded them.
From the cover of the thick woods a voice echoed towards the quarry, and Rensou sighed. He had hoped the men would rush inward in an attempt to surprise and corner he and his men. Perhaps a hasty escape would have been possible with the entirety of the assembled occupied, but these men were well versed in performing their duties.
“Rensou Hiruen. Come quietly or we'll be forced to. . .” the command came, but it was quickly cut short as the defiant voice of a champion answered the threat with a looming question. Forced to attempt to detain them through violence and drag them back to be executed for the pride of corrupt men!?
“To what!?” Rensou snarled between bites, spitting raw meat and blood from between savage incisor and canine as he rose to his feet and dropped his food to the ground. Laiz followed his example, turning and backing to place himself opposite of the scarred warrior he would die for. Rensou had freed him from slavery through his evil deeds, and that was reason enough to fight, kill, and die for his friend.
“Drag you back to our employers by whatever means necessary,” the voice called back before it was given face as a Saiyan mercenary and at the least a score more of alien and Saiyan bounty hunters showed themselves, circling the trio and vastly outnumbering them by a ratio of three to one. The power of Rensou, Laiz, and Dozah combined would be hard pressed to triumph over such insurmountable odds.
“Could'a let me finish eating, ya know?” chimed Dozah as he stood and wiped his mouth, sweeping his black locks back with a reddened hand and blazing a wide grin to the men whom had come to detain the greatest warrior and friend he had ever known. Dozah was prepared to go to war to protect him, and would doubtlessly produce many casualties before the enemy overcame him.
“So, what will it be, Rensou. . .?” the leader asked uselessly, smiling at the chance to battle with Rensou Hiruen and collect pay for his efforts. He knew that the warrior before him, one he had watched rise to fame in the arena and pits of Saru would never surrender. Rensou would stand before one hundred men and die smeared with the blood of his enemies mixing with his own.
Rensou gritted his teeth, his head lashing back and forth in the face of this collected mass of scum hellbent of bringing him to “justice.” For the first time in his life, Rensou wished he had been more pleasant to those he had come across and made more friend than enemy. Legs spread under him as he brought his fists up in that wide stance of his. The Tsurunoha manifested beneath open palms as he gave his answer wordlessly.
Do your worst, mercenary scum, you who bark and claw for the scraps of men more evil than Rensou Hiruen! Come and taste the Tsurunoha, the Kousho, and the Tsuruha if you present me but a chance to tear your bodies apart one by one until you overwhelm me! Today many of you will die, bounty hunters!
For the first time in his years, Rensou faced a host of opponent he and his comrades might not gain victory against. Rensou, Laiz, and Dozah were in serious need of an outsiders assistance.
