As Ryota stomped down on his chest once again, Carmine scowled. The damage was cosmetic for now, but even at base power, without ki techniques, Ryota was strong. This kind of punishment couldn't continue, otherwise actual damage would be done. Leg grapples weren't working, Ryota was slippery and hard to trick. He only had one hand - he wasn't going to be the one to tell the crew that he was a princess. He also wasn't going to be the first one to use special techniques.
So he decided that his only recourse was to fight as dirty as possible. A few courses of action came to mind, from playing unconscious to spitting in Ryota's face. Only one seemed likely to work at all.
Carmine thrusted his sword up and in, directed at Ryota's crotch.

Ryota's eyebrows shot up as he saw just where Carmine's attack was aimed and considering where he was and how limited his area of movement was at the moment Ryota did the first thing that came to mind to avoid an attack to that particular area. He shot up into the air causing the sword strike to veer off slightly only grazing his leg rather than coming anywhere near his crotch.
Once Ryota knew he was safe from the attack he then took a moment to take everything in and realized something, he and Carmine had simply agreed to begin with swordplay, there had been no plans made to have the entire fight consist of just swordplay however and considering Carmine's lack of flight thing were now tilted in Ryota's favor.
Ryota grinned at Carmine as he shook he waved his arm back and forth causing the other fighter to swing. "Hehehe, You know for a while there I actually forgot that you cant fly unless you somehow managed to pick up that talent between now and your last fight." Ryota said with a grin as he began to increase the momentum with which he was swinging Carmine. Assuming Carmine held onto the handshake Ryota would jet himself over to one of the massive pillars and take a swing at said pillar with his weapon of choice being none other than Carmine himself.

Carmine cursed under his breath as they began to fly, but at the same time it was better than getting stomped on over and over again. However, it became glaringly obvious that Ryota intended on using this as an advantage to either beat the pulp out of Carmine or make him break the handshake and thus lose their impromptu bet.
Once Ryota began to approach one of the pillars, Carmine knew what was coming, and he thought fast. Ryota's advantage right now was that he could fly unassisted. Carmine, however, had an advantage of his own - something a fleshbag like Ryota wouldn't be able to do.
Carmine locked the joints in his right hand into a deathgrip on Ryota's. He made sure that no matter what happened, those joints wouldn't loosen up unless they were broken. Then, as Ryota started his first swing at the pillar, Carmine put his plan into action, and used his sword to cut off his own right hand, at about mid-forearm. Warnings and damage reports flashed in his consciousness as he immediately began to plummet back towards the arena floor, but he paid them no mind. He wasn't going to bleed out, as he had no blood. Losing a hand was mostly an inconvenience.
He quickly sheathed his sword and transformed his left hand into the Galleon Buster, took aim, and fired a charged shot at Ryota as he fell, hoping to take advantage of the initial surprise that this little gambit would likely cause.

Ryota grinned as he felt no actual attempt by Carmine to hinder his attempt to smash him against the pillar however he quickly realized something was really off when he actually swung at the pillar as the weight that he had been pulling on his arm since he'd taken off was no longer there, as if Carmine was gone. Looking at his hand Ryota saw that just as it had been since the beginning of the fight there was Carmine's hand... however the rest of Carmine was noticeably absent. Complete and utter confusion washed over Ryota as he looked down to see Carmine plummeting to the ground... and a energy blast coming right for him.
"You sneaky son of a--" Ryota managed to say before the blast connected with him sending him flying away from the pillar though as he was nowhere near exhausted Ryota managed to catch himself in mid air a few moments before when he would have hit the ground. Turning himself in the air to take a standing position Ryota instantly sought out Carmine. "Seriously?! You cut off your damn arm? That definitely means you lost the bet." Ryota said with a smirk as he used his free hand to draw his sword again, while he did believe he had won the bet he wasn't going to risk Carmine pulling some sort of logic trick if he decided to toss the hand away.
Once he had his sword drawn Ryota would quickly focus some energy into the blade causing it to glow with the silver and gold normally associated with Ryota's aura. "Ya'know Carmine I don't think you've gotten a chance to see my new technique." Ryota said with a smirk as he started slowly advancing towards Carmine's position. Once he was about half way to Carmine Ryota would make a quick upward slash which would create one of his rifts, however just as Ryota finished the upward motion of the first slash he would almost immedietly bring his sword down in the opposite direction letting loose a blunted arc slice through the rift. The rift itself would lead a bit off from Carmine's left.

"No way, Captain - just because your hands are too weak to hold on without being connected to your arms doesn't mean we're all so badly limited. The bet goes on as long as your grip does." Carmine grinned as he landed on the arena gracefully. He'd managed to hit Ryota, if not do any lasting harm.
His pride was short-lived, however, fading quickly at the mention of a new technique. He noted that Ryota's sword was glowing much like the man himself would when things got serious. Something very bad might be about to happen.
When Ryota finally made his attack - slashing upwards to make his rift and downwards to send his attack through - it would most certainly have caught someone unfamiliar with Ryota's techniques off guard. Even one of the other crew members might have had trouble getting out of the way. But Carmine, he was a smart man made into a smart machine. His processing speed was intense, and he immediately recognized that the odds of the first slash being to open a rift were over 90 percent. He also knew that Ryota had a propensity for opening rifts in a fighter's blind spot. After a brief bit of calculation, he determined his safest course of action - there was a 70 percent chance that Ryota would bank on Carmine's inability to fly and thus not send the attack from above, and so Carmine knelt and pushed up, leaping up high, just barely cresting the top of the Arc Slice in time.
He fired off a few basic Buster shots to try and keep Ryota busy while he came down from his leap, but he'd given up any potential for a real attack in his attempts to not get scrapped. "Fascinating, Captain!"

Ryota grinned as Carmine was able to anticipate that he'd be using his rift to deliver the technique he'd been hoping that with his mention of a new technique that Carmine wouldn't actually expect him to lead in with an older one but of course Carmine was a bit too smart to be so easily tricked. Heck that was half the fun with fighting Carmine, while his crew wasn't really 'dumb' most of them simply lacked the foresight and experience with tougher fights to fight at that sort of level. WHile strong in there own rights most of his crew clocked in somewhere around the average power for Makaioshin save for a few exceptional warriors.
Grinning as he cut through a few of the blaster shells before finally getting tagged in the shoulder by one Ryota cracked his neck trying to decide on how best to go about his next attack. Smirking to himself Ryota shot forward at Carmine quickly beginning to close the gap between them as he dis so however Ryota made a quick but long slice through the air behind himself. Once the rift opened Ryota would leap up above it "GALLEON, FIRE!" Ryota would shout as he did so causing a massive wave of energy to erupt from the rift.
The attack however was not intended to really hit Carmine, rather Ryota was using it as a method to close off Carmine's avenues of movement as while he followed the wave Ryota would move to block off whichever path Carmine chose to take to avoid it. Once he had Carmine cornered Ryota would attack with a quick assault of kicks as well as a few stabs and swipes with his blade.

Carmine fell for it hook, line, and sinker. He knew what the Galleon's weaponry was capable of, and he knew he didn't want to be on the receiving end of it any time soon. If he'd had a moment to think, he'd have decided that Ryota was clever to use his rifts to bring the Galleon's gunfire into the playing field out here, where the Galleon was most assuredly not.
However, he was too busy dodging the sudden blast, and found himself under attack by the man himself. A couple of solid kicks got through to Carmine's face before he managed to get his defenses back up. He blocked and parried, and once Ryota's sword came out, he quickly transformed the Galleon Buster back into his hand, tearing his own sword free from it's scabbard. He deftly blocked and parried all but one blow. He grimaced as he heard the sound of metal shattering - Ryota's Demon Sword had finally done in Carmine's perfectly normal carbon steel blade, breaking it in two just before biting into the android's side. Carmine dropped the broken blade and grit his teeth.
"PHOTON FLARE!"
He cried out as a bright flash of sunlight flared from behind his eyes, his personal take on Solar Flare. He wasted no time, pushing up with his feet into a mighty leap, the Demon sword tearing from his side but leaving a nasty wound. At the crest of his leap, he flipped himself over, preparing to deliver the first Typhoon Kick of the fight.

Ryota frowned a bit as his blade managed to destroy Carmine's, while tactically it was great as it put Carmine in the awkward position of having to defend himself against a blade it was simply far more fun to face an opponent who also knew some level of swordplay and actually put it to good use. Unfortunately however Ryota had no spare blades to provide Carmine with and at least for the moment he had no interest in giving up a decisive advantage, perhaps later when they moved past there base power he would but that would be something to contemplate at that time and not now.
As the remains of Carmine's blade hit the invisible floor Ryota noticed Carmine made a familiar gesture and then everything suddenly got much brighter... and then completely dark. Ryota felt his blade cut through part of Carmine as he likely moved away to take advantage of his temporary blindness. Scowling to himself Ryota tried to think of a way to counter the fact that he was blinded. Then like a ton of bricks it hit him. He wasn't blind, at least not completely.
His other eye was despite appearances completely fine and considering he had enough control to keep 'that' from activating unless he was at full power he wouldn't really have to worry about losing control. And if anything else the arena itself would do a good job of hiding it. As well the look on Carmine's face would be absolutely priceless almost worth losing control. Smirking as he made his decision Ryota turned in the direction that he'd felt Carmine fly off in, more or less completely unaware of the danger he was in, however in the same motion that he did this he would flip his eyepatch over from his 'bad' eye and onto his newly blinded eye.
Beneath the patch was an eye strikingly different than Ryota's other eye, where that one was a dull green and mostly 'normal' this one was a bright blue with what upon closer inspection someone would notice to be purple bolts of lighting striking at random intervals. Ryota's eye widened as he saw what Carmine was up to and completely on instinct Ryota's aura erupted around him as he passed the limits of his base power as his Makaioken activated as he reached out to block the kick with his arm despite the fact that even while blocking the attack Ryota would still be pushed back significantly and his arm would sustain a fair amount of damage even with the power of his Makaioken reinforcing it.
"That ain't gonna work quite as well this time Carmine." Ryota said with a slightly stringed grin after Carmine's attack. If Carmine decided to pump himself up past his base power as well Ryota would keep his Makaioken up though if ti became obvious that the other man had no plans to do so he would simply let the power fade away as he didn't quite feel he needed to take the fight to that level quite yet, the power simply made defense a lot easier especially in such a surprise situation.

Carmine was crouched on the ground, his kick having hit solidly but Ryota seemingly unharmed - at least there was no harm worth really mentioning. He looked up from the ground and glared at his opponent, when two facts hit him. One, Ryota's patched eye was fine, if a little different looking. Two, his power in Makaioken was intense. He'd never faced anything quite so strong, and he knew that the Captain had an even stronger ace up his sleeve. He'd need to think fast and loose, and avoid power escalation for as long as possible, and that meant he'd have to save his Limiter Override for a bit later.
"You son of a bitch."
Carmine was fully out of fresh ideas, which meant it was back to old tricks. Tricks Ryota would probably be able to predict. However, that in no way meant he was going to give up - Ryota would never forgive him! He grabbed up one of the larger shards of his sword and threw it at Ryota, a paltry attempt at distraction as he jumped up once more and out popped the Cyclone. He mounted the bike and immediately began to ascend, flipping Ryota the bird as he went. He'd been in a fight that was a race that was a fight before, and he was curious how Ryota would react. He also had a really bad idea.

Once it became obvious to Ryota that Carmine was not going to be activating his Limiter Override Ryota let the power of his Makaioken fade away even despite the small part of his mind crying out against doing so as his demonic instinct's all told him to keep himself as far ahead of his opponent as possible, but as he'd done some many times before Ryota fought the impulse and reverted back to his normal level of power with barely any sign that he'd fought a small mental war to do so.
Were it not for the utter strangeness of the action Ryota was pretty sure Carmine's throwing of his sword-shard would not have been nearly as effective as it had been but simply out of confusion it took Ryota far longer to respond to the 'attack' than it should have as he only barely managed to toss out a blast of energy capable of sending the shard flying while also destroying it even further. It took a lot of effort for Ryota to not facepalm as Carmine hopped onto his motorcycle, flipped him off, and then started flying away. The action was something just so... strange and silly... and it reminded him exactly why he'd recruited Carmine, the man wasn't just a good fighter, he was also mostly unpredictable.
As Ryota took to the sky to pursue Carmine he grinned to himself as he shot through the air trying to close some of the distance between himself and Carmine so that he could start his attack. As he flew Ryota once more began empowering his sword with his ki causing it to once again begin to glow and pulse with an aura similar to his own. "Hey Carmine, thats a very nice bike you've got there. It'd be a shame if something happened to it." Ryota said as he grinned a evil grin and made a slice through the air aiming in the general direction of the bike and Carmine's lower body. with the slice the energy pent up inside and around the blade would be released in the form of a 'true' Arc Slice.

Carmine's eyes narrowed as the arc slice flew towards him. Ryota, it seemed, was done fucking around and wanted the fight to go to the next level. Carmine knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that he didn't want to be on the recieving end of this new technique until he could say exactly what it did and how powerful it was. He kicked the Cyclone into it's max gear, only briefly outrunning the Arc Slice until finally it was right on his tail.
Thankfully, he'd bought himself all the time he needed. He planted a foot between the handlebars, sucked in his breath, and pushed up into a high jump, using the forward momentum of the bike to propel him even further. He turned in his ascent and once again changed his left hand into the Galleon Buster. At this point Ryota's Arc Slice tore through the bike, neatly bisecting it and still going strong. It was purely by the grace of wind drift that the slice missed Carmine as he reached the very apex of his jump.
He charged the Buster and fired a shot at the Captain, using the backwards force to hover only ever so briefly before he started to come back down. His hair stood on end, and not from fear or nerves, but from static. He'd gotten what he wanted, and now it was just a matter of timing.

Ryota couldent help but smirk as he watched the Arc Slice tear through the motorcycle, had he not known that Carmine was more than capable of rebuilding or repairing it he would have likely felt a bit bad about destroying it but as he knew that was not the case Ryota was glad to take a bit more of an advantage, he had to admit that part of it was simply in an effort to push Carmine into transforming so that they could take this fight to the next level.
Watching Carmine's leap Ryota had to wonder what he was planing, they were rather high in the sky and Carmine lacked the ability to fly, sure he was probably tough enough to survive the fall without too much damage especially considering there was a decent chance the ground wasn't nearly as tough as say the earth. Ryota smirked as Carmine shot a charged shot from his cannon causing him to make a quick shift to the left though due to his and the attacks considerable speeds he was still grazed rather badly by the attack causing most of his sleeve to be vaporized and leaving his arm a bit singed.
"It's a good thing I've got more than one of these..." Ryota said with a groan. Thankfully the coat wasn't one of his 'nicer' ones, he'd come to this tournament knowing that he'd be fighting powerful warriors and while he still dressed in his normal style he'd worn one of the cheaper coats. Sheathing his sword Ryota bolted through the air closing the gap between himself and Carmine. Once he did so Ryota would unleash a flurry of kicks and punches, some of the punches however were more Ryota trying whack Carmine with his own severed hand.

Carmine could feel the static building up. Any other time, he might pause to consider whether his hair was natural or synthetic, and if it were in fact natural, what donor it may have come from, but he was a bit preoccupied. He needed to strike a careful balance between paying attention to the electrical buildup and defending from Ryota's barrage of attacks. He changed his hand back from it's Buster form, the gun being useless in such close quarters.
The moment came just as Ryota was about to beat Carmine in the face with his own severed limb. Carmine grabbed the stump and pulled as he rolled himself over in the air. That simple movement, that one midair roll was the most crucial and complex part of this gambit, requiring timing, misdirection, and most of all a giant pair of brass balls. As he rolled, he activated his Limiter Override while simultaneously charging up a Typhoon Kick. Once he was safely underneath Ryota, he could see what he'd hoped for - an oncoming bolt of lightning. Carmine had been banking on the fact that several of his parts were metal, and thus would attract lightning if exposed to the high-up stormclouds. However, he never intended to be struck by lightning himself. Instead, he smiled at Ryota and gave a quick quip.
"I gotta hand it to ya Captain, you're power is pretty electrifying."
With that, he planted his explosive kick into Ryota's stomach, the force of the blow rocketing himself downward towards the arena. The impact would knock him senseless for a moment, but his Limiter Override would help mitigate the recovery, and hopefully the Typhoon Kick would do as intended - throw Ryota directly into the path of the lightning.

Ryota had been quite happy with how things had been going as he unleashed his attack upon Carmine however in his haste to take advantage of Carmine being unable to move particularly much he neglected to protect himself properly and as such when Carmine grabbed the stump and rolled Ryota went rolling right along with him. he could feel the energy radiating off of Carmine increase and knowing there woulden't be much he could do to prevent the next attack Ryota simply activated his Makaioken in an attempt to stave off at least some of the damage.
Ryota had just enough time to let out a sigh over Carmine's comment before the Typhoon Kick nailed him dead in the chest causing a powerful explosion that sent him flying upward and as well managed to knock him out of his Makaioken as he'd not quite gotten the chance to fully activate the technique. Groaning in pain Ryota looked down at Carmine he noted a odd grin on the man's face and with that and a sudden strange feeling of dread everything clicked.
Ryota turned his neck just in time to spot the bolt of lighting as he struck him in the back at full force causing him to let out a horrible roar of pain as everything went blurry and then suddenly dark. Ryota tumbled in the air for a few moments his cloak ignited by the bolt and then with Ryota no longer powering his flight he began to plummet. Likely Ryota would hit the ground shortly after Carmine.
Ryota would simply lay there as his coat and thus his back burned for a few moments. All attempts to detect his power would read it as practically nothing similar to if he were dieing or has expended it all. However after a few moments Ryota's power would begin to rapidly increase quickly reaching his untransformed full power, then exceeding it. Once his power was at about half that of his Makaioken Ryota would once again begin to stir pulling himself up to one knee. When Ryota finally managed to get to his feet he would be at his full power, his Demonic Aura active.
However something would be noticeably... wrong... with Ryota. His normal friendly if a bit vicious expression was gone, replaced with a completely cold and emotionless expression. Slowly Ryota took a look around as if confused as to where he was before turning his attention back onto Carmine. When Ryota's eyes met Carmine's a truly evil grin spread across his face as he crushed and then disintegrated the hand that he'd still managed to cling onto. "Now I remember... We were fighting..." [/i][/b] Ryota said, slowly his voice seemed to ever so slightly change, losing any hint of friendliness and replacing it with cold malevolence. Cracking his neck and knuckles Ryota slowly drew his sword from its sheath and the first truly physical change about 'Ryota' became apparent. His sword was for the most part the same as it always was, however the blade itself now sported a far more jagged style, obviously intended to not just kill but to cause as much pain with every strike as possible, as well rather than the normal gray metal that it had once appeared to have been made of the blade now appeared to be made from black steel. "It's been far too long.... But I knew it wouldn't be forever..." Ryota said before chuckling to himself for a few moment.[/blockquote]

Carmine had managed to get himself together just in time to see Ryota get back up, his demonic aura in full swing, and his behavior...a bit off. When the Captain destroyed Carmine's severed right hand, the android knew something was wrong.
"You okay there, Captain? I, uh..."
Carmine took a step back. His power was intense, and all of his sensors and readouts begged him to flee.
"Looks like you let go of my hand there. Pretty princess, all in pink and that..."
Even the Captain's SWORD was all wrong. That lightning bolt must have knocked something loose, or the people running the tournament had done something to Ryota. Every indication told Carmine that he was no longer fighting his good friend, and that he should open fire.
So he did.
He opened fire with the Galleon Buster, popping off a handful of shots as he wheeled back away from Ryota. He didn't dare shut off his Limiter Override - he might need it to live through this fight.
