Not long after the two contestants are given a chance to see who they would be fighting in the second round of the tournament the arena would instantly telaport them to there battlefield.
As the two appeared within the battlefield the arena would simultaneously create the battlefield for them, the 'arena' itself was little more than complete ant total open air with the only sort of 'ground' to speak of being an invisible layer of energy upon which the two fighters would appear on. At the four 'corners' of the arena stand a massive pillar and high above the battlefield a lightning storm rages, the rain only just beginning to fall as Carmine and Ryota arrive.
Begin!

Carmine looked around his new environment and chuckled. It was certainly an improvement over his last arena, but with it's own nasty twists. Still, the rain and wind were the least of his worries. His opponent, however...
"Well, Captain, looks like we got paired up. Figured this would happen sooner or later, considering the other combatants. You've been improving, as expected. So have I."
He turned to face his friend, a smile on his face.
"I had Keyra show me the basics of swordplay. Turns out it's all velocity and angle of approach in technique. Simple equations. I caught on quick, and I really enjoy it."
He grasped his sword and drew it slowly. The steel flashed as a bolt of lightning jetted down past the arena. The blade was similar to a Jian, but with a hilt and scabbard like a chokuto in a dark blue. A red tassle hung from the pommel.
"Let's make a show of it."

Ryota had barely had time to take a good look at the screen before he'd gotten whisked off to the battlefield itself, one of the screens had activated just as he'd returned from visiting the Galleon. Evidently his trip back to the Galleon had been at a rather inconvenient time. However he hadn't needed to take a very long look at the match-up screen to know who his opponent was. The brief glance he'd gotten had been enough to recognize the familiar face of Carmine.
Ryota grinned as he looked around at there rather strange battlefield, he ran a hand over his eye patch and then through his hair as he looked from the storm to Carmine. Even if Carmine hadn't told him that he'd improved Ryota had no doubts that he would have, if Carmine had even been half as eager to become stronger after there fight as Ryota had been then this was bound to be one hell of a fight.
"Good to know that you've been trying to keep up. I was worried I might have beaten you too badly last time." Ryota said with a grin that and a tone that showed that he in no way really meant what he'd said, it was just a little something to see if he could manage to get a rise out of Carmine.
Ryota raised an eyebrow as Carmine explained that he'd been learning swordplay from Keyra, he had to restrain himself from face palming though as Carmine compared it to 'simple equations' Keyra had said something similar once, the idea of adding any real level of mathematics to swords was a horrifying notion for Ryota.
The fact that Carmine seemed to be at least somewhat proficient with his sword was rather impressive however though it made sense, Carmine himself was a smart and powerful warrior and he'd been taught how to use a sword by Keyra who was likely one of the best on the ship when it came to pure swordplay.
"Oh I can already tell this is going to be even better than are last fight. Considering the quality of my last fight lets make this as good as possible Carmine. What do you think about starting off with just swords?" Ryota said as he drew his blade and twirled it in his hand once before taking up his fighting stance while waiting for Carmine's response.

Carmine nodded.
"That's half the reason I brought the thing - on the chance that we'd be paired up. I just hope yours isn't too sharp or hard, I'm only working with steel here."
He chuckled, and took a few steps towards Ryota. He fully intended on enjoying this fight. He didn't expect to win, much like last time, but he intended to try by any means necessary. He switched his sword into his left hand, holding it blade down - not a hostile action, especially when paired with his motion to shake Ryota's hand with his now-empty right. A symbol of respect between two men about to attempt to hurt each other badly.
What Ryota hopefully wouldn't predict was that once the handshake happened, Carmine would hold tight to Ryota's hand and slash upward with his sword at the Makaioshin's shoulder, trying for an early first blood. A nasty, dirty trick, but yo ho ho.

"Then lets see just how much you've managed to learn." Ryota said with a smirk. Ryota then watched Carmine carefully as he switch his sword to his other hand and even still remained cautious when Carmine put out his hand for a handshake, Carmine had taken quite well to the pirate style and Ryota wasn't entirely sure if the handshake would end up as just that but regardless he couldn't just ignore it and if anything perhaps if Carmine tried something he could turn it to his own advantage.
Once Ryota felt Carmine's grip tighten on his hand he knew he'd been correct and when the sword came swinging Ryota did his best to avoid the attack though the sword still managed to clip his arm. However perhaps due to having expected something more to come from the handshake Ryota was able to tighten his own grip on Carmine's hand in hopes of preventing him from pulling away.
Ryota smirked as he took a quick swing at Carmine's leg hoping to either do a bit of damage to the leg or perhaps simply throw Carmine off balance while attempting to avoid the attack as simply jumping out of the way of the attack was mostly out of the question considering both men still had one hand locked in a handshake.

Carmine's smile widened with Ryota's slippery moves. He had hoped it wouldn't be so easy to get a sucker shot in on the Captain. He hadn't expected, however, for the man to lock in the handshake grip.
He leapt up over Ryota's slash flipping over behind the man, twisting his right arm awkwardly. He didn't try to loose his grip, however - this was far too interesting and entertaining. Somehow their handshake had turned into a one-handed duel, and now the two were back-to-back.
Carmine stabbed back with his sword, toward's where Ryota's kidneys would be, if Makaioshin even HAVE kidneys. Carmine made a quick mental note to try and research Makaioshin anatomy once the fight was over.

Ryota had definitely not been expecting Carmine's method of dodging his attack however he kept a firm grip on the other man's hand, half in hopes of gaining some sort of tactical advantage from this whole thing and half just to see how long this strange beginning to the battle would last.
Now with Carmine behind him things were even more difficult especially when it came to avoiding and detecting incoming attacks, Ryota shifted his body as he felt Carmine's body shift hoping that the shift was in fact Carmine attacking and luckily for him it was as Carmine's sword only managed to slice through part of his coat.
Smirking to himself Ryota sent a quick kick to the back of Carmine's left leg while at the same time making a quick slice at Carmine's side with his blade hoping to catch the other man off guard with at least one of the attacks.

Ryota's kick landed directly behind Carmine's knee, and the android fell into a half-kneel. He sucked in his breath as the demon's sword came slashing by, tearing his own coat and nicking the skin beneath.
He twisted his body and got back onto his feet, circling back around in front of the Captain. He still held fast to the man's hand.
"First one to let go tells the crew that he's a pretty princess all in pink."
Carmine threw a slash directly towards Ryota's face, aimed to rake across his eyes. Following the slash, however, was a heel kick directed into Ryota's instep. His tactic was to try and hide his kick in the 'shadow' of the sword slash, as it were. If, somehow, both attacks landed, Carmine wouldn't complain of course!

Ryota smirked as his attack worked and just as he was thinking about releaseing his grip on Carmine's hand Carmine said the worlds that made him choose to tighten his grip instead to show that he had no intention of losing that particular bet. "Oh your going to regret suggesting that." Ryota said with a smirk before further tightening his grip on Carmine's hand as if he was trying to crush it.
As he did so however Carmine made an attack taking a swing at Ryota's face, Ryota quickly snapped his head back and pulled himself back as far as he could go without actually just pulling Carmine forward as well narrowly avoiding the attack only to have Carmine kick land causing him to clench his teeth as pain shot up through his foot. "Agh you sonova" Ryota growled out before lashing out at Carmine with a few quick swipes with his sword all the while still applying as much pressure to Carmine's hand as he could only having loosened his grip slightly during the aftermath of the kick and even then only for a few moments. Carmine barely registered Ryota's tighened grip, and his face showed it. He was, after all, an android, and until actual damage was going to be done, Carmine couldn't spare the processing power on acknowledging it. He did, however, apply a good bit of extra pressure onto Ryota's hand.
His left hand flashed, parrying and blocking Ryota's strikes, but one managed to get through. Luckily for Carmine it went wide and instead of taking his ear off, it just shaved a few of his hairs away. As they floated away into the stormy air, Carmine spun his blade in his palm, changing his grip to be a bit more traditional.
He pulled on Ryota's hand hard, either pulling the Captain to himself or himself to the Captain. It didn't matter who moved, because as he pulled he also jumped, tucking in his right knee and pulling up his left foot to mount himself on Ryota's shoulders. He raised his left arm, aligning the tip of his sword with the Captain's spine just between the shoulder blades, and thrust downward.

As Ryota felt a tug on his arm he instinctively pulled back in an effort to prevent Carmine from pulling him into an attack, however in doing so he'd evidently done just as Carmine had wanted anyway as the other man lept into the air and landed himself on Ryota's shoulder. Momentarily confused by Carmine's attack Ryota barely had enough time to parry carmine's sword with his own, Ryota wasn't quite keen on wondering just how things would have gone had he not snapped out of his confusion as quickly considering Carmine's attack looked to have been aimed for his spine.
Smirking to himself as he noted that because of there handshake Carmine was still stuck on his shoulder Ryota decided to use this to his advantage, keeping his blade locked against Carmine's Ryota pushed forward with both arms hoping to push Carmine off balance so that he would tumble backward and slam into the invisible energy field. Afterward Ryota would then quickly raise his blade and take a quick swipe at Carmine's chest.

Carmine had expected a counterattack, but had miscalculated his balance. When Ryota shoved, into the air and onto his back he went. The only thing that kept him from sliding off across (and potentially clean off of) the arena was the handshake. What had once been a brief ruse at worst and a friendly jest at best had become a potentially very deadly tether for both combatants.
Carmine only barely got his sword up to block Ryota's chest slash, but he was still on the ground, still on his back. Getting up while still latched onto his opponent would be difficult without opening himself up to further attack, something Carmine absolutely did not want.
So instead he twisted at the waist and kicked his legs out around Ryota's. Wrapping his legs into the Captains, he twisted again, hoping to bring the demon onto the ground with him.

Ryota smirked as Carmine crashed into the ground though the sudden pull on his arm that the fall had caused had been a bit painful it was most definitely worth it to avoid having his back become a pincushion and to put himself in a much better position considering Carmine's limited options for both attack and defense though considering the other man's craftiness he doubted that his options were as limited as Ryota would have wanted.
When Carmine didn't immediately move to get back to his feet Ryota kept himself ready for the inevitable attack as if Carmine wasn't going to try and make a move to get back to his feet yet it meant that he had some sort of plan of attack in mind or at the very least something to cause enough distraction for him to get back up.
Ryota watched as Carmine's tried to use his legs to knock him to the ground but just as Carmine's legs were attempting to lock themselves around Ryota's Ryota launched himself up as high as he could considering the limited range he had to work with and with a brief and mildly awkward flip considering the effort Ryota had to put into not messing up his arm. Ryota began the quick descent to his intended landing zone, directly upon Carmine's chest.
Ryota wasn't entirely sure how durable Carmine's chest might be but even if he was made of metal he had to assume that slamming his entire weight on one point would do some damage and if Carmine didn't find a good way to escape Ryota knew exactly how he'd follow this up.

If Carmine had been flesh and blood, he would have coughed and maybe let out a short shout. Instead, he grimaced as Ryota landed. A soft sound of denting steel could be heard - ntohing that couldn't be easily buffed out, but it was enough to register the impact and the threat of further similar impacts was something to be avoided. Carmine needed to get Ryota off, and fast.
Misdirection had worked once, hopefully it would work again. Carmine employed a double slash at Ryota above him, one aimed at the knees and the other aimed at the stomach. In the meantime, Carmine readied himself to vault his legs up and wrap them around Ryota's core before pulling them back down to the ground as hard as he could in an attempt to perform an awkward sort of piledriver. If the slashes struck, Ryota would likely move of his own accord. If the leg grapple was successful, Ryota would be forcibly moved, and the handshake would likely also pull Carmine into a more beneficial sitting positon.

Ryota grinned as he pulled his leg back from Carmine's blade as Carmine took a swing at it however he found himself mostly unable to avoid the second swing and it cut open part of his coat and left him with a cut across most of his stomach, thankfully the wound was not as deep as it could have been and he was still easily able to continue fighting though once he got a chance he'd have to cauterize the wound, likely though that could wait until he found a way to trick Carmine into breaking the handshake.
Ryota's eyebrows raised in surprise as Carmine's leg locked onto his waist and began pulling, with all of his might Ryota just barely managed to keep himself from being flipped over by Carmine. "Nice try." He said with a grin before lifting one foot to stomp Carmine's chest again, the fact that he had felt his initial jump do a bit of damage was more than enough encouragement for him to continue with this method of attack, especially considering that Carmine didn't seem to be dieing from it. Though Ryota wasn't even sure if Carmine could exactly 'die' like a normal mortal being, thankfully he had no intention of actually finding that out considering the rules of the tournament and the fact that he considered Carmine a friend.
