Floating high above the crater that was formerly Saru City, hanging prone in the rarified atmosphere, Zach hovered in place, spent by the immense effort he’d put into the metropolis’s destruction. Part of his condition was due to the unguarded strikes he’d absorbed while charging the attack, but most of his condition was due simply to the strain of having never before channeled that much energy into anything. His inexperience he led to the waste of massive amounts of power as he worked to fill the titanic cylinder while at the same time developing the attack it’s self.
Zach’s anger though still was not sated, the young man had been broken, shattered within by Gurin’s mental tampering. Even though the score was now even, the boy could easily go on demolishing every other minor city, village and outpost on the planet, only the fact of his weariness held him back from continuing his rampage across the whole of the planet. It was time to go, yes, time to return to the ship and rest, to make sure Rito was safe and then to go home. As far as Zach knew, the mettlesome child, the red monster and the girl had all been obliterated by his attack, there were no witnesses to link the assault back to Earth, just as Zach had wanted from the start. With their planet half in ruin and Earth no more likely an attacker then Namek, the only conclusion could possibly be that the Changelings had counter attacked in response to the invasion of their own world by the barbarians.
‘Good, let them kill each other.’ the teen though as his crimson aura calmed, his eyes and hair returned to their usual colors and he angled himself downward to look upon the destruction he’d wrought. It was complete, not a trace that a city had once stood here. No fragments of buildings, no bodies, not infrastructure. Just an immense crater, still hot and belching out huge clouds of smoke. It didn’t make him happy to look down at the destruction, nor did it upset him. So broken was the boy’s psyche now that all the destruction of the city and killing of it’s entire population brought him was the satisfaction of a job well done. He wasn’t happy about it though, that emotion didn’t even enter into the equation. Sociopath, that was the word, that is what Gurin had helped turn the blonde teenager into. Nor remorse, no guilt, just the drive to do a job and that job was exterminating the inhuman trash that had wronged him and his people time and again. It wasn’t about justice anymore, it was simply a job, a mathematical equation to be set right and the only way for the equation to work was for one of the variables to equal zero. That variable was the Saiyans.
Turning away from the smoldering crater, Zach searched for the familiar buzz of Rito’s energy signature. It took him a few moments, another area he was still inexperienced in, to locate the boy, but once he had a firm bead on his position, the blonde accelerated away from the city, towards the landed spacecraft. It had touched down far enough outside the city to escape harm thankfully, and within a minute or two, Zach was descending towards it, setting down just outside of the craft. The skies were still disturbed with the massive amounts of power being expended nearby, apparently Gurin was having some fun of his own. In addition to the disturbed sky, there was the rumbling sound of the thunderous near crash of some massive space ship. The blonde watched out across the expanse o the crater as the flaming vessel arced low over the ground and then started to ascend back up towards the clouds. Zach didn’t care though, he just wanted to sit down, relax and leave this disgusting planet far behind and so turned away from the scene and started to approach the waiting entry hatch.
