Alright. Time for in-depth rules on (the mechanics of) dying, and what happens before and after such a phenomenon.
Death can only occur within roleplay if either a) the lethality of a confrontation is predetermined before a fight is initiated (in laymens terms, the result will probably be death for one of the fighters before the fight is begun) or b) the loser allows himself to be killed.
With that in mind, let us discuss the...
Upon death, you will appear within the afterlife. The system has been revised since the days of King Yemma, so now you will instantly appear within one of two places - Heaven or Hell. You will appear in heaven if your character is neutral to good, and hell if you are chaotic neutral to evil.
You will keep training equipment that you had in life to allow you to continue to progress in power.
If you're lucky, you may be called upon by the Kaioshin or Makaioshin, respectively, as a student. If this happens you can expect great benefits in the form of high power increases and powerful techniques, such as the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb techniques.
There are several processes that can result in your eventual return to life, because - let's face it, it's not that fun being dead.
1) Dragon Balls - the most obvious method. Collection of the seven magical objects yields at least a single wish, one of which can be used to revive people. A single person can be revived two times via this method.
2) Kaios/Makaios - Kaios and certain Makaioshin have the power to revive people from the dead. They can only do this once per person. ICly, however, they may want something in exchange - a Kaio may ask you to become a guardian of justice, and a Makaio may ask for your soul, or a deed done.
3) Escape - this one is more in place because of RL reasons (the afterlife tending to be more dull than the living realm) - with enough effort one can escape from the afterlife and return to the living realm, with their life energies intact. Like the above this can only be done once, and after eight weeks of death. You must get admin approval beforehand for this to be done, and you can't be a saga villain for this.
I hope this answers any potential queries.
