Incoming message from T’bok. Tara appeared next to Drexx, they were in his lab. The android was working on repairs after the extensive damage he had suffered at the hands of Hogg. His body still wasn’t a hundred percent, and it had been a week since the trio had made their way back to Drexx house in the Yunzabit heights.
“Put it on the screen.” Drexx turned away from his open arm, it laying on a workbench in-front of him, disconnected from his body to face the rear wall. The entire wall lit up revealing his anthropomorphic gorilla friend’s face.
“Drexx, it’s good to see you alive and well.”
“And you as well friend. How is the encampment holding up?” Drexx had been curious as to the fate of the Anthropomorphs. There had been a few hold-outs who still supported Hogg, even though the tyrant was dead. They considered him a Martyr. By the change on the face of the gorilla Drexx assumed that whatever news he had wasn’t good.
“That’s what I’m calling about. We’re at an impasse here. We’ve tried negotiating, we’ve offered them food and money to leave, neither side seems to be able to agree on a way to settle the matter… and now they’ve resorted to violence. They’ve held themselves up in a position north from you and have been making raiding runs on our encampment… so far they’ve killed thirteen.”
Drexx grimaced at the news, innocents being killed always hit Drexx strongly his programming making it impossible to ignore.
“We need your help again.” T’bok said matter-of-factly. Drexx supposed he didn’t have a choice, his programming and his friendship with T’bok making it impossible for him to refuse. He picked up his arm and connected it back to his left shoulder.
“We’ll pay you.” T’Bok offered almost pleading, taking the android’s silence as a refusal. Drexx shook his head. He didn’t need his friend’s money in order to help him.
“You’re my friend T’bok. You don’t have to pay me for me to help you.”
“Please. It is customary among my people.” Drexx shrugged, he wasn’t going to fight the customs of the Anthropomorphs.
“What do I need to do?” Drexx asked, working his left arm in circles. It still wasn’t one hundred percent, but it would do. T’bok explained that the rebel’s camp was north of his house, tucked into a systems of caverns. The leader of the rebels was an anthropomorphic skunk by the name of Lepeux. He had led the rebels to the cave, and for a while things seemed peaceful. Then something happened. Something in the cave changed Lepeux. He had begun making vicious attack upon T’boks people.
Drexx exited his home and lifted up into the air, rocketing towards the coordinates his gorilla friend had given him. He touched down lightly outside the mouth of a very large cave. Covering the entrance were signs, reading “beware” “keep out” and “death upon entry”. A few skeletons around the cavern showed that the signs were indeed serious.
“Some welcome…” The android muttered and began to make his way into the cave. The darkness didn’t affect his eyesight, being an android had its perks. The walls of the cave were clammy and slick with moisture, Drexx kept a hand on the wall at all times, trying to sense vibrations in it if someone were to approach. After a while he came to a large cavern, a single hole in the ceiling letting light in. The light trickled down upon a throne, where an impossibly large skunk sat, his body more covered with muscle than Drexx would have suspected of an anthropomorphic skunk.
Around him stood a large mole and a large ant-eater, other Anthropomorphs scurried around, but Drexx could only hear them, his focus intent of Lepeux. The skunk looked up and saw him, a smile crossing his face.
“Greetingz! Bonjour and bienvenue. You must be T’bok’z friend. He zaid he’d zend toi. Je suis desole for our appearance. We’re in the process of cleaning.” He waved his hand and a body was flung down the hallway Drexx had just stepped out of, clearly one of T’bok’s villagers.
“I’ve come to tell you to stop your raids on the village, there’s no reason for it Lepeux.”
The skunk chuckled, and with his laughter came laughter from the others. It spread out in a ripple effect until it was all around him. He raised a fist and it died down. The others appeared to follow his every command.
“Je suis desole, mon ami, you have me at a disadvantage. I’m afraid you know of me but I don’t of you.”
“My name is Drexx.” As soon as his name escaped his lips, a murmur ran through the cavern. They knew of him. They knew of him very well. They had been there when this one had disposed of Hogg, he and his green friend, and the rest of the traitorous defilers. Hogg had been like unto a god to those in the caverns.
“Drexx… yes I know all too well of you.” He stroked his chin, little white furs hanging off of it, he tugged at these, and twirled them in frustration. He set his jaw and raised his arm.
“Je suis desole, mon ami. But I cannot let you leave here alive.” He dropped his arm, the action reminding him of what Hogg had done in the arena to signify the start of a fight. From above he heard a massive beating of wings.
The anthropomorphic bat tackled Drexx, the duo flying down the hallway and out into the night sky. Drexx hadn’t realized night had fallen. They were in the bat’s domain now.
