Ancient City was a place Ark only visited on occasion. His infrequent visits did not reflect his view of the place, it was a wonderful city after all, but he preferred his solitude out on the plains. Still there were times when he needed to resupply or pick up an item or two that could not be found out in the wild. Today was one of those days, the human strolling through the city with his hands tucked into his pockets. Humming to himself he would offer slight nods to those he pass that might give him a glance, but most of the Namekians continue about their business, the entire race not having that intrusive nosiness that most humans tended to posses.
”Boy, come here. I need your assistance.” Turning his head “the boy” would see the man that had addressed him. Surprisingly the older fellow was human, wrinkles creasing his features and with a slight hunch to his back. With a small shrug Ark would head over, curious as to what the man might need help with. He was in no real rush so it wouldn’t be a problem to lend assistance if he could.
”I need to get the rest of these materials onto this little cart over here, would you mind giving me a hand? My back just isn’t the same as it used to be.”
Glancing at the stacks of boxes and crates it would take him a couple of seconds to realize that all of it was. It seemed to be building supplies, similar to those used in the construction of the buildings on Namek. Never one to deny help Ark would get to work loading the supplies on the wagon, again not in any rush to do so, hoping to have a little bit of conversation with the old man.
”These look like building supplies if you don’t mind me saying. Planning on building a home here on Namek?” Lifting a crate he would bring it to the wagon, putting it on the end before giving it a shove to slide it all the way to the back before heading back for another.
”A home? Yes, but not hear on Namek, on Earth actually.” The old man himself would start to help as well, picking out some of the smaller items to move. He had been a fine fighter in his day, but the family life and lack of training had in time allowed his body to weaken, his older frame no longer possessing the strength he once had.
”On Earth? May I ask why? There are plenty of building materials one Earth, yet you travel all the way to Namek to acquire some of their own, seems odd to me.” Grabbing to crate this time, balancing one on top of the other he slides them onto the wagon, making sure to be careful as he slides them up into place, he didn’t want to break anything after all.
”Well truth be told I want my retirement home to resemble those here on Namek in design and materials. Sure I could get similar construction materials on Earth, but then that isn’t authentic. For that reason I took one last trip here to gather the supplies I would need, my son plans on helping me when I return.”
Ark chooses not to question him further on the decision. He understood where the man was coming from. If he appreciated Namek and its culture then why not take a small piece of it back with you to enjoy? Continuing to load the wagon he would bother the man no further with questions, the two engaging in small talk about the various things they enjoy about the planet. When it was finally done, all of the crates loaded onto the wagon Ark would wipe his hands together, getting off a little dirt.
”Well if you are all set I will be on my way, I have some supplies of my own to pick up.” With a friendly wave he turns to walk away, but is caught off guard when the old man’s hand grabs his elbow to stop him. Looking back at him he could see he was holding some Zeni in his hand.
”Oh, no payment his necessary sir, just trying to help out where I can.” The man would not let go of his arm though as he moves the money towards Arks hand.
”No, I insist. I do not plan on returning to Namek and your help was appreciated. Besides, when you get to my age you realize money is not important, relationships are what matters. So please, take it.”
With a sigh Ark would take the zeni, tucking it away in his pocket. ”Well thank you. Good luck on your journey back to Earth and I do hope you enjoy the home once you and your son get it built.” With a short hand shake and another farewell Ark would be off again, still needed to pick up the supplies he had originally entered the city for.
(Zeni please)
