“NGH!” Serori grunted, forced to her knees. The hand on the small of her back pressed harder, forcing her chest to the ground.
“C…Computer! Simulation…off…” Serori’s gasps were forced, the palm at her back crushing her ribs into her lungs against the ground. There was a small whirring sound, and in just a second, the white and purple figure disappeared. Serori heaved herself up onto her hands and knees, wheezing.
Of course…she knew that it would be harder to train. But…this much difficulty? She still had plenty of time to gain in power before the fight that would determine whether she lived or died. However, she would be in no shape to do so. Gritting teeth, clenching hand, she stood upon her legs again. Walking over to the wall, she grabbed her water bottle, taking a quick swig. “Computer, up the gravity, and up the simulator difficulty.”
“But, Serori, you are obviously pained, and too tired for…”
“That’s an order!!” The Saiyaness shouted to the computer.
After a few begrudged sounding whirrs and beeps (and Serori would swear she heard a grumble from the audio system), she felt the weight of sixty five times normal gravity pressing against her shoulders. Yes…yes, this would do. She would have to beat herself to death to gain enough power, but she had time…plenty of time. For the moment, she pushed the thought that sooner or later the growths in her womb would stop her from being able to make almost any movement…all the reason to train harder now.
Serori didn’t do any warm ups, as she had been training for a few hours now, and so waited for whatever the computer decided to conjure up for the simulator. She stood, rivulets of sweat beginning to form on her brow, as slowly an image appeared. Something that came unexpected for the expected.
The form of Rensou Hiruen, Saiyan General, raised his head and glared at her.
“Computer, what is this?”
“Empress, you requested a raise in the difficulty modifier. Judging from your past patterns of behaviour, your weaknesses, your fights, and your current physical and mental condition, I felt that this would be the best way for you to gain the power necessary to achieve your goal.”
Serori stood silently, contemplating her response. She came up with this.
“The fuck?! This man nearly killed me several times over. Hadn’t I had senzu beans, surely I would not stand before you now.” Rage escaped her mouth, spittle flying. “Are you trying to kill me?”
“Please Empress, I exist merely to serve. I was simply obeying your orders. Try to keep yourself calm as simulation starts in three…two…one.”
Serori abated her rage at the machine, as the countdown started. Even before the fight started, the Saiyan general before her was already creating his signature Tsurunoha Spheres, an energy sphere that could take the form of whatever he wanted them to. From an attack, a shield, Serori had seen them moved and executed expertly, but still didn’t even know what all to expect. She powered up to her Super Saiyan form.
No sooner had the computer finished relaying the countdown, then said spheres were flying at her. She quickly dodged to the right, spheres going past. She prepared a ki blast to ward them off as they turned towards her, coming at her chest. She released the signature, and it crashed into the two spheres, which had flattened themselves into discs. They pushed against her attack, Serori holding on, pushing more energy into it. It was a battle of power, which would be pushed back; Serori’s feet began to slide. Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her, the feel of hot breath against neck. Focus snapped, the Tsurunoha pushed through her energy, coinciding with a hard punch to her kidney. Serori was knocked forward, between the Tsurunoha, which returned to Rensou’s hands.
Again, Serori found herself pushing up on hands and knees, wiping blood from her chin.
“Didn’t your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?”
The quip was lost on the simulator, which retained the serious composure of the true Saiyan warrior. Nothing about him gave way to his true intentions; nothing except his hate filled eyes.
He stepped forward, spheres still in hand, palms flat, facing the ceiling. Shakily, Serori stood up, fist still at her chin. Simultaneously, she used Instant Transmission appearing behind Rensou, while he threw his Tsurunoha Spheres once more at her. They missed, and Serori, thinking she had the upper hand, activated her Ki No Tsurugi, an attack that she usually forgot about. Pulling back a punch to go through the neck, she readied herself.
Instead, she was met by an elbow to the stomach. Bent double, gasping for breath, her eyes followed Rensou’s feet as he turned slowly. She didn’t have to see his eyes…she could feel the burning stare against her neck. Trying to raise herself, Serori was forcefully pushed down by a booted foot. The owner of said foot began applying pressure, squeezing the air out of Serori's chest. With each exhale, she was pushed even farther down, decreasing the next inhale. Her vision was blurring, her head and lungs burning, heart beating faster and faster. Such a desperate time called for a desperate measure.
Serori subconsciously began drawing in energy, as little pricks of light flashed before her eyes. She gathered as much as she could before the tunnel vision began setting in. At this point, she let it out. A large dome of ki erupted forth, originating from the center of her mass, exploding outward in all directions. It caught Rensou off guard, knocking him off of his feet, and thus off of her. The ki wasn't concentrated to one area, and so had no other adverse effects on the Saiyan, but was enough for Serori to push up, taking a full breath.
Turning around, she faced her opponent once more. Her cheeks and ears were flushed, bright red and hot. “Thought you had me there, didn't you?” she taunted at the general, a risky behaviour. Rensou used his zanzoken type move to come up to her, throwing a punch. It was backed by the Tsurunoha spheres, and so, when it made contact with her face, left a large burn across her cheek. The blonde's face turned sharply with the hit, and close quarter combat was initiated.
The super duo launched punches and kicks at each other, neither gaining nor losing ground. When one would dodge, they would parry with an attack, which would promptly be dodged or blocked by Tsurunoha or Ki No Tsurugi (in conjunction with Serori's barrier). Serori smiled cockily, as she was able to keep up with this simulation, a feat that she could not do in person. However, the computer was made to push her, not to kill her, so had greatly moderated the power on the digital General.
However, he was still stronger than Serori. While she was definitely keeping up, she was beginning to get tired, whereas the Saiyan opponent seemed to have a limitless supply of energy. She would need to come up with something, and fast. While she thought up a plan, she began to charge.
Charge 1/2
It was a slow gathering of energy, something unnoticeable, as some of the energy she was taking in was being released with her ki attacks and blocks.
Rensou, too, must have come up with a plan, as suddenly his punches were not backed by the Tsurunoha. In fact, Serori couldn't find them anywhere...
“Oh, shi-” Serori was knocked in the side and back by both spheres. She managed to dampen the blow to her side, as he peripheral vision saw that one coming. However, she had assumed that they would form a pincer movement, one on each side of her, and so the barrier to her right did nothing to stop the Tsurunoha to her back. Concentration broken, Rensou utilised the pause to administer a swift kick to the face, sending Serori flying into the air. His movement was quick, following her up with a charged ki blast to the face, launching the Saiyaness into the ground, where her body thumped, bounced, and lay still.
Chest barely heaving, Serori lay with her back on the ground, eyes shut, ears ringing. She still gathered in energy, quicker now, as none of it was being used for anything other than to keep herself alive.
Rensou's footsteps echoed in the gravity chamber as he walked towards her. Serori heard the whirring of the spinning Tsurunoha spheres.
”This is it,” she thought to herself. ”This is how it ends...”
Charge 1
Opening her eyes, her vision blurred, she looked into the snarling face of Super Saiyan Rensou. White eyes, golden hair, matching aura. White teeth, pink lips, tanned skin. Raising his hand, Tsurunoha whirring, converging into one, growing brighter...
That was it!
Serori came up with an idea; a move that had played a vital role so many years ago, in the defeat of a Saiyan like Rensou. A bright flash of ki-based light forced Rensou to step back, instinctively bringing his arm up to shield his eyes, Serori expended a little more energy to provide barrier over her ears, and used her ki to demolish another one of her opposition's senses. Her ki thunder roared, echoing through the metal of the ship. Rensou's hands flew to his ears, face in a grimace. This would give Serori the time she needed to get up, get out of the way, continue charging.
Standing in the opposite corner, she dropped every energy depleting anything that she could while Rensou stumbled around. She focused her entire being into charging this attack, a small, black ball beginning to form in the palm of her hand. Generally an attack to destroy a planet, now she was going to destroy a hologram. A solid hologram, but a digital representation nonetheless.
Charge 2
Rensou wiped at his eyes, opening them, finding Serori in the corner.
“You fucking whore, I'll kill yooouuuu!!”
Rearing his hand back, his Tsurunoha appeared again, shining, bigger than before. Serori knew what he was doing; this was the same technique he'd used to help Boliko throw back the attack from her dead husband. Serori saw it vividly, Rensou's Tsurunoha beam becoming one massive spiral with Boliko's amethyst ki. Together, they were able to throw back the attack, launch it into space, breaking into pieces, creating an aurora borealis effect. It was quite beautiful, in retrospect, although at the time, it was horrifying.
But, there was no Boliko to help Rensou out now. Serori had started charging before him, so her attack would be stronger. The death ball grew larger, rings of energy leaping out like flares from a sun. The center of the mass was so dark a purple, it looked black, but lightened as it left the edges. This Death Ball would not be large, but much more powerful, energy concentrated into a tinier form. When she finished charging, the ball would be filled to bursting with energy, and it wouldn't stop there. She had plenty more energy than just what she was putting into it. This was her ultimate attack, an attack that had done nothing to Rensou in her real fight with him. But at the time, she had not been able to charge.
As her body filled with more energy, Serori could feel the drained-ness of the area around them. The two themselves were ridding the whole room of any ki, tho when they released their respective attacks, the room would quickly fill up again.
She could feel the weight of the gravity now, having nothing to keep her mind off of the ailings of her body. In fact, Serori felt heavy, pained; this fight had taken a large toll on her. Beat up and bruised, she had started another fight, harder, and heavier. But this was the only way to get stronger. The arm charging the ball began to grow shaky, partly due to the massive energy it controlled, and partly due to how tired she was, both physically and mentally.
It was time.
Charge 3 and 2
“C T O S N U I R C U B H A A L A L A C A N A N A O R O G O H N”
Serori's attack: a combination between death ball and her conic beam. Together combined, she launches the conic beam, expanding towards her opponent, with the glowing death ball front and center. The cone pushes the death ball into and through her opponent. This is what she charged, to her fullest extent: the Conic Ball Cannon.
On the other hand, Rensou had indeed pulled both of his Tsurunoa spheres together, converged into one solid mass. Both his and Serori's attacks collided in the air, directly between them. The simulataneous release was uncanny. Flashes of dark aquamarine and royal purple collided, providing a spectacular light show. But only for onlookers; the two combatants were locked eye to eye, neither giving an inch, nor planning to. Where normally words would fall came only the roaring sound of ki, hard breathing, and grunts from each to hold their own. Both hands were forward, each willing the other to fail.
The ki beams flashed, contrasting colors colliding, sliding through each other. Both were dark colors, yet emitted bright light, flares of ki blasting out in arcs. Neither giving nor gaining ground, energy pushing against the opposing color. Then, slowly, the purple began giving way to aquamarine.
Serori's grimace turned to shock, and then fear. Her ki attack was failing, falling back, retreating to her own hands. The evil grin on Rensou's face made her sick; how could she lose to him again? And at a lower power, closer to her own. She grinded her teeth, causing more pain, and thus more drive for power. The moving ki slowed, but still pressed on. Rensou's arms pushed forward, and a swell of energy overcame her own. Feet sliding, Serori ducked her head, still trying to press further, but to no avail. No matter how much energy she put into the attack, Rensou's was still stronger. Closer and closer the blue approached her hand. Cold sweat began to pour down her face.
“You fool...you think...you can win this?” Rensou's voice was strained, displaying the effort he needed to maintain the constant energy. Serori chose not to reply. Why expend unnecessary energy?
“You...Icer's...slut.” With each word, Rensou took a step forward, Serori's feet sliding back. “You're weak...useless...a true Saiyan would have put up a better fight.” Serori's back pressed against the wall, there was no where left to go. Bracing her legs, Serori slacked off on the energy; enough to still hold Rensou's back, but reserving enough for another attack. She would wait again until the last second, to ensure the most energy she could get.
“You murderous bitch...killed off your Saiyan family...and when that wasn't enough...killed your adoptive parents. You're no better than your dead husband...killing because you can. Lusting for death, to cause pain to others. This is why you have to die.”
By now, Rensou was only needing to use one hand to hold his own energy, white teeth showing, bared in a growl. He was only a few feet from Serori now; she could feel the heat of the two energies radiating into her, burning against her skin.
”Just a little bit more...”
Rensou's face, inches from her own. His moist breath rank to her nose. “This is when you die.”
“Not today Rensou!!” She used the same maneuver against the hologram as she had against the real Rensou on Kold. Creating a signature being of herself against the opposite wall, she used Instant Transmission to appear before it, allowing it to dissipate. The rest of her charged energy was put into another Conic Ball Cannon, smaller and weaker than the one before, but all she could get. It left her hands, roaring towards Rensou.
“This is it, Rensou! I will win this time!!”
The Saiyan General turned, a look of amusement on his face. Everything seemed to slow down, Serori watched her ki attack race toward her opponent. It was sure to hit, this was it! This was what she held out for! This was...
It reached the Saiyan. But instead of making contact, Rensou simply raised his hand, flattened Tsurunoha in his palm, and reflected the attack upward. Serori sank to her knees, beaten. There was nothing else she could do...she'd lost. Tears ran down her burned, crimson cheeks. She did nothing to stop the man from walking up to her, kneeling down, grabbing her throat. Slowly, he began to lift her up. Serori, standing straight up, reached her hands to his, clawing at it, starting to choke. Rensou floated off the ground, clenching the muscles in his arms so Serori raised with him. Again there was nothing but silence, corrupted by the gurgles gasps and croaks that were emitted from Serori's throat. Her vision again was fading, spots of light appearing before her eyes, cutting off sight.
“C..ckch,” she tried to call out to her auto pilot, but Rensou's hands clasped harder around her wind pipe, effectively choking off her words.
“You can't stop me now...I've been having such a good time,” Rensou's sneer broke across his face. He raised his free hand, Tsurunoha appearing in palm. “I'm holding this ball.” He reached back, to gain full momentum. Serori shut her eyes, and did the only thing she could think of.
The ultimate cheap shot. Some would call it cheating, fighting dirty. But when it came to a fight to the death, you utilised any weaknesses your opponent might have. There's no such thing as fighting dirty when your life is on the line.
Serori's leg lifted fast and hard between Rensou's, landing with a loud smack. The Saiyan General went cross-eyed, letting go with his hand, and bent double. The pair fell to the ground, the male curled up and groaning, the female coughing between gasps of breath, spittle flying from her mouth.
“Ckch, computer,” her hoarse voice croaked. “Off...now.”
Another whirring, and the gravity slowly returned to normal, the image of Rensou disappearing. Serori didn't bother lifting herself back up this time. She waited for her breathing to turn normal, before rolling over. Already, bruises were forming on her neck, red hand marks. For a digital representation, it was quite physical...she very well could have died, but save forplot armorher quick thinking. Had her computer had Rensou on full power, then she surely would have died, and sooner.
“Computer...” Her voice was still scratchy and quiet. Talking hurt the throat. “Enough for today.” She was through, and very tired. Chest rising and falling with her breath, arms stretched out, she lay against the cold ground, letting her eyes close, and the bliss of sleep take over her unconscious. Her last thoughts before going under: "I'll catch up to you yet, you bastard."
