Fudotatakai was troubled. He had just hiked his way back up his favorite mountain wearing a stubborn face, his mind refusing to sit still. Earlier that day, he had met the first foe who was able to best him in combat, nearly killing him. Not only did he narrowly escape by triggering some kind of mysterious power, but the monk named Chozu was obviously far superior to Fudo in terms of fighting ability. The old man was able to fire glowing balls of energy from his hands, and even fly. Fudo had only his fists, nothing else. Of course, he had that transformation, but who knows how long it would take to control that. With an impatient sigh, the demonic man sat on his rock at the peak of the mountain, surveying the surrounding area with a scowl. He didn't mind losing, and appreciated a good fight nonetheless, but he couldn't help but feel as though there was something being kept from him. Some sort of secret technique that he was fully capable of doing with the right practice. He concentrated on trying to come up with a solution; how did Chozen produce those spheres of power?
After several minutes of contemplation, Fudotatakai recalled feeling Chozu's energy spike suddenly when the attack was formed. Was the orb itself constructed of that same energy? Fudo stood up and looked at his hand, focusing for a moment in meditation. It was there, he could feel it... His own energy, resting peacefully inside him despite his bruised body. He took a deep breath and once again considered how he would go about performing the technique. He assumed that with the right training and teachings, it was possible to transform that energy into a physical form, which could be used to attack the enemy. However, Fudo was all alone. He had no master, no training partners, no education. All he had was the instinct given to him by the Makaioshin entity living inside him, which he wasn't even aware of at the time. Chozu did say something about an 'evil spirit', but hell if Fudo knew what that meant.
Pushing those thoughts aside for the time being, Fudo once again peered inside himself, sensing the swirling pool of ki he was apparently supposed to utilize. He decided to start by simply willing the stuff to move to his hand. It took some time, but he eventually began to feel it shifting inside him, moving down his arm and slowly to his hand. It felt unnatural and uncomfortable, but at the same time somewhat empowering. He was slowly learning more about his own body, and he could tell it would help his combat abilities in time. Soon enough, he had a fairly large collection of energy in his hand, but his eyebrows furrowed out of irritation, as he now had no idea what to do. He supposed all that was left to do was control the energy and allow it to exit his hand. He imagined the ki manifesting itself as an orb of force, raising his palm and aiming it away from the mountain. He flexed the muscle in his arm, and all at once, a stream of orange light shot out, making him jump from the surprise.
The energy soon disappeared, but Fudo was disappointed. The orange wave of power was too unfocused and random, looking more like a spray than a coordinated attack. Not only did the blast look sloppy and weak, but it was relatively draining, causing the man to already feel a bit tired. Regardless, he tried the process again, drawing a chuck of energy from his arm into his palm, focusing it, and letting it leave his body. He did this several times, and while the waves of energy seemed to condense slightly, he was never able to control it once it was outside of his body. He wanted to charge the ki into a ball as Chozu did, but it seemed like that wouldn't happen anytime soon.
After growing bored and frustrated at his inability to properly perform an energy attack, he decided to try and move on to the other ability the monk demonstrated: the ability to fly. The seemed a little more straightforward to Fudo, especially since he had already experienced the propulsion created by expelling energy from his body. This time, he focused the power to his feet, and instead of letting it all out at once, he expelled the energy in a steady wave. This accomplished next to nothing, only making him feel lighter for a moment. With a groan, he tried again, this time collecting a larger amount of energy and condensing it before letting it all out at once. The results that time were... Unexpected.
Fudotatakai was launched into the air as if he had jumped fifty feet upward, grunting angrily as he soared off the edge of the mountain. "Rgh... What the hell...??" he groaned, unable to control himself as he descended. He usually hopped his way down steep slopes without trouble, but this was no hop. He was quickly gaining speed, rotating slightly in the air before landing in a slanted patch of grass with a loud thud, bouncing a little and rolling further down the mountainside. He finally came to a stop and groaned before rising to his feet, gripping his injured arm with a look that seemed utterly pissed off. He was tired, but he was determined to get the technique right. After gazing back up the side of the mountain, he tried one last time to focus energy in his feet. This time, he collected as much as he could, practically draining the ki from the rest of his body. He let the essence out in a single burst, launching himself skyward. His estimations were correct this time, sending him soaring just over the peak of the mountain where he landed with a disgruntled gasp.
Though he was unable to properly fly, Fudotatakai was satisfied with his new found ability to enhance his jumping, and over the course of the next few days, he refined the technique to the point where he was able to jump in rapid succession, even using his ki to speed up his movements while running. While he wasn't able to attack from a distance, this power allowed him to dash in any direction he please at a very high speed, closing the gap between him and a foe.
