Dropping to one knee, Fudotatakai grunted in exhaustion. Another day had passed, and he was determined to grasp the concept of energy manipulation. Even after creating his high-speed movement technique only a few days prior, he wasn't satisfied. The sheer power wielded by Chozu during that fight was incredible, and Fudo simply had to learn its secrets. In one final attempt to project his ki, he stood up and took a deep breath, holding his palm out towards the nearby mountains. He concentrated on his inner power, drawing it towards his hand with a groan. He was getting quite skilled at performing this part of the process, focusing his power into his palm and letting it collect. It was the part after that gave him trouble. Once he had a sufficient buildup of energy, he released it all at once, firing a quick burst of orange light, which traveled a good twenty feet before dispersing. "D-Dammit..." he cursed, collapsing once more and panting heavily. The training demanded quite a bit of stamina, but he figured that it was worth it. His ability to fight would vastly improve if he were able to properly fire bolts of ki like the monk in the valley, he just needed to learn the proper technique.
The man slumped back onto his rear, putting his hands in his hair out of stress. It was rather depressing being unable to master such an attack, especially for someone who had been gifted with power, who required very little training in the matter. Up until now, he had never really dedicated himself to much of anything. Now, he was tired and hungry, and needed a good fight to perk him up. Deciding to go out and forage for something to eat, he stood up and took a deep breath, attempting to stabilize his breathing. Once that was done, he descended the mountain in his usual fashion, leaping off and sliding down the slope, hopping several feet in the air each time he encountered an obstacle. He had detected various forms of wildlife in the past, but had never really taken the time to observe them, let alone hunt for them. Once he reached the heavily forested base of the mountain, he stopped and looked around. He had a rather keen sense of hearing, which allowed him to quickly get a hint of what sort of creatures were scurrying about.
He could locate what seemed to be some kind of fox or small wolf, and multiple squirrels and raccoon, but nothing with any real meat on it. Perhaps a deer or a bear would suffice, but nothing like that seemed to be around. He walked through the rugged wilderness, his steps relatively soft and light. He wasn't trying his best to be stealthy, but his movement was working nonetheless. Most animals didn't seem very frightened by him, only scampering off when he got within twenty feet or so. He kept his ears open for whatever larger animal might be around before suddenly freezing, tuning his hearing off towards a large, rocky hill. He liked what he heard, the sound of large, heavy footsteps, and the occasional crunch of a large branch. He swiftly made his way towards the source of the sound, grinning when he saw the creature.
It was some kind of large reptile that walked on two legs. It stood at a good five feet or so, and had small arms reaching out from its chest. Its skin was green and covered with scales, and the beast was busy looking around for food outside a large cavern entrance. Fudotatakai licked his lips in anticipation of what that thing might taste like once it was cooked. The small dinosaur perked its head up and looked around when Fudo moved into position, and when the time was right, he dashed out from his hiding place using his Close-In technique, delivering a swift chop to the back of the creature's neck, giving it a quick and painless death. The man didn't enjoy hurting animals, so he made sure not to make the young beast suffer. With his dinner now laying in front of him, he stooped over to pick it up before his eyes widened. He heard something ominous from inside the cave, what seemed like a low growl. It took him only a second to figure out what it might be, but by the time he had reacted, it was too late to get away.
A large, ferocious version of Fudo's prey emerged from the cave, roaring angrily and charging towards him. He turned and began running from the beast, who was easily two stories tall. The monster was on a rampage, obviously upset at its child's predator. Fudo was still feeling rather tired from his training, so he wasn't able to effectively use his Close-In to get away. He instead put all his effort into turning around large trees, trying to confuse his pursuer. The beast wouldn't let him get away, however, smashing its way through everything between it and its sprinting target. Fudo soon realized that he had no choice to fight, so after turning another corner, he spun around and leaped at the monstrous carnivore, aiming a strong kick to its chest. Unfortunately, his muscles were even too weak to do much damage, only making the monster flinch before slapping the man off of its body with its small arms, which were much more powerful than they appeared.
Fudotatakai knew he was in trouble, and that mundane attacks wouldn't be enough to faze the beast. He had to come up with a strategy quickly in order to defeat the monster. For the first time in a while, he actually had to use his head in battle, not just his fists. He began sprinting once more, this time heading in a specific direction. He had surveyed the area multiple times from atop his own mountain, and he knew exactly the place he would lead his predator. Fudo ducked and weaved through more fallen trees, luring the overgrown lizard toward a large, rocky cliff. He turned to face the beast, shouting at it in an attempt to anger it further. Once it began its charge, Fudo waited until the last possible second to use his special movement technique and leap over it, causing it to run right under him and straight off the side of the mountain. The reptile yelled a groaned as it tumbled down the rocky ledge, falling a good four hundred feet before crashing to the earth below. Fudo smiled at his apparent victory before scowling down.
The monster wasn't dead, and was seemingly smarter than it first appeared. It got up and face the tall ledge on which Fudo was standing. It then spun around and whipped its tail into the wall of stone, creating a mighty rumble on the ground Fudo was standing upon. The man turned to try and run, but was interrupted by one last tremor, which caused the cliff side to crack and splinter, causing it to literally fall apart underneath him. Fudo fell, crouching down to hold onto a large piece of the ground as he plummeted towards the beast, who was waiting to devour his foe when he arrived. Fudo knew he had to end it right there and now, and in a moment's notice, came up with an idea. He focused his ki into his right fist, charging it full of energy until a deep throbbing was felt within. He continued concentrating his remaining power into the next punch, and when he neared the beast, he Closed-In.
"Graaahh!!"
With a mighty shout, Fudo's fist crashed into the beast, releasing all of its pent-up energy into the reptile's cranium. The monster stopped complete, lingering in its standing position as the force from Fudo's punch ruptured its innards. The beast toppled over, dying almost instantly from the powerful attack. Fudo dropped off of the thing's head and landed on the ground below, immediately dropping into a prone position. His arm was aching after having so much energy channeled through it, but he was glad to have finally defeated the crazed monster. He panted for a few moments before simply passing out, falling into a deep sleep to recover his strength. He dreamed happily, knowing that he would enjoy quite the feast when he awoke.
