The android staggered against the wall and held his chest. The electric damage he had sustained from the grey-skinned beauty had done its damage, and despite living through it… well he wasn’t in the best shape. He had just barely made it out of Yemall village; Elder Carnel had been saved, at least for the time being. Drexx held his chest and coughed. He needed repairs, and needed them bad.
He had made his way to a village he didn’t know the name of, following the lower power signatures of the namekians living there. This village seemed different than most on Namek, electric lights strung about. Technology was here… that meant there must be someone here who could repair him, right?
Drexx staggered off the wall and out into the street, Namekians gasped and some hid, the male warriors gathered around him, ready to fight if he was a threat. Drexx collapsed, eliciting a gasp from those gathered. A human male surged forward and caught him, but the weight of the android dragged him down as well. He asked for help and two black gi namekians hefted the android up and a third helped the man.
The man inspected Drexx chest and gasped when he saw the damage. He tore off the android’s shirt and inspected the wound further. Drexx’s head rolled around his shoulders, his eyes going in and out of focus. His stored energy had been used to get up and attempt to fight Aranea, but she had left and the android’s energy was gone.
“This android needs extensive repairs. Bring him to my house, come quickly now.” He headed off towards his house, a human’s house set in a Namekian village. Had he his wits about him Drexx would have commented on it, but in his state all he saw were blurs. The Namekian’s brought him through the wide double doors of the human’s house and set him down on a metal slab in the center of the Human’s living room… if you could call it that.
In the center of the room was the metal slab; off to the sides were all different types of computers with different read-outs. I.V’s with different fluids hung from the ceiling. The human grabbed one of the needles and shoved it into Drexx’s arm.
“He needs to be upgraded. Repaired.” The human said. Drexx was floating in and out of consciousness. He felt the human peeling back the skin on his chest, opening his chest panel. Drexx wasn’t sure how he felt about the human tinkering around within him. But he was dying… he didn’t have much choice, and the human was repairing him knew nothing about him as well. Repairing him with blind faith.
He heard a gasp from the human.
“This android has a Saiyan heart.” He heard the human mutter something under his breath, thinking he heard him say something about Benjin… did they know each other? It seemed everyone that worked with androids knew his creator.
“I’m sorry android,” He said patting Drexx on the cheek. “But I must shut you down in order to repair and upgrade you. This may be unpleasant. It will not kill you however. Your heart will remain beating.” Drexx felt him reach into his chest and suddenly nothing.
He was floating in darkness, shadows surrounding him. He had no idea where he was, but felt occasional shocks and phantom sensations course through his body. The human was repairing him, and hopefully he wasn’t messing with Drexx’s programming.
A figure appeared before him, cloaked in all black its face constantly shifting back and forth between people the android knew and those he didn’t. It faced him, its face suddenly shifting into a mask of pure white. Its mask appeared to be made of porcelain. It walked towards them.
“Who are you?” It asked, though its voice betrayed no emotion, monotone with no inflections. Drexx wasn’t sure how to answer the question. He knew who he was, or at least he thought he did. The creature cocked his head to the side.
“Why do you deserve to live?” It asked. The creature apparently knew the answer to the first question, or didn’t care. Drexx shook his head, trying to clear out the cobweb and find his voice.
“I need to protect.” He said at last, the creature’s head still cocked to the side. Who or what was this thing…
“What do you need to protect?” It asked, its head shifting from one side to the other. The dark eyes of the mask betrayed nothing, neither did its voice.
“I need to protect everyone, anyone who can’t protect himself. The Innocent and defenseless…”
With a wave of his hand a small boy appeared next to the masked figure. Drexx didn’t know the child and was confused by his sudden appearance.
“This boy will grow up to be a mass murderer. The universe would be better off with him dead. He is being attacked by a group of men who wish to kill him. Would you save him?”
“Yes.” The android said without even having to think about it. He would save the small child, and be forced to kill him later in life when he was a murderer. “He isn’t a murderer yet, and nothing says he has to be.”
“It is predetermined he will be.” The creature said without emotion. The child vanished. A woman appeared. Again Drexx didn’t know the person.
“This woman wants to die. She is going to kill herself. How do you suppose to protect her?” He said it with no emotion again. The look in her eyes was one of desperate hopelessness. Drexx wasn’t sure how to answer. How could he protect someone from themselves?
“I would try to show her the value of her life.”
“And if she still wants to die?”
“I don’t know… I don’t know what I would do.” The android admitted exasperatedly. He didn’t know why the creature was asking him these questions. He felt another round of phantom shocks and pains.
The creature nodded. The woman was whisked away. The creature studied Drexx for what seemed like an eternity.
“I find you worthy of living.” He waved his hand and Drexx woke with a gasp. In the dark he could see the human sitting next to him sleeping peacefully. He felt different. More powerful. More alive. He stood from the table, removing the wires from himself. He felt incredibly strong. He scanned his own power-level and was shocked with what he found.
Then he looked up into a mirror. He stumbled backwards, denting the metal slab he had just sat on. His hair was standing on end, and it was golden. His eyes were a glowing green.
“Holy crap. I’m a Super-Saiyan.”
