Meeting of Minds I (Open (Kaios))

Kensei exhales as his eyes slip open. He sits up, waking from his deep slumber. His spiky red mohawk bounces as he does so. He seems to stare into the distance for a while. His eyes analyse his surroundings, the massive planet he can see outside of the atmosphere tinted with the light pink and yellow glow is his own. He has come to Heaven to meet with the other Kaios, all his students or friends in times past, and now all his fellow guardians. He was their leader, and with that he had the most responsibility. It was his own decision to stop them from interfering directly in the realms of mortals, to some of his colleague's dismay. But that was the way of the universe - mortal problems would resolve themselves.

He had no doubt the issue would be raised in this meeting. He pushes himself to his feet, before he pulls his right arm behind his back. He places his hand around the hilt of his sword. The weight comforts him. He would still hold the final say on this matter. What else could they discuss? Perhaps new mortal revelations. Several mortals had massive strengths - specifically, the being known as Gurin but who was really someone else, the newest saiyan king (Kensei had his own inner fears about this one), and the Icer lord Touketsuki Yakedo were all prominent, as well as many of the other warriors on Earth being pretty close.

Hm. Kensei was always debating internally; should he have killed the saiyan king when he was just a babe? No. That would have been immoral. And yet, within that man was a power so potentially chaotic. Kensei had learned long ago there was never an easy choice. The saiyan king had the potential to reach god-like levels of power, and if power corrupts then absolute power is pretty fine, as the phrase goes. Kensei was less worried about the other two warriors - 'Gurin' had the potential to go either way morality-wise, but Touketsuki had both of the other strong warriors to worry about. He wouldn't last out the week.



What, then, was there to talk about? In the Other World, the lack of a competent Demon King meant that demons were no big problem. A few slipped into the mortal realm, but there were strong warriors out there who could already deal with them. Kensei chuckles. Even if the demons managed to kill a few of then warriors, it would mean that his team of Kaios would get students to train in their ways. Then, the demons would be screwed over.

Indeed, Kensei did not care so much about the state of mortal affairs - if they died, what was it to him?

He sighs. The others would be here shortly.

A slight "click" is heard followed by the instantaneous appearance of the Northern Kaioshin, Heiwa the bastion of peace. As always, he appears in style, sitting in the metal joygasm that is his 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. His hands are held up to his eyes, as if holding some mysterious device, for this is his way of teleportation. Upon making eye contact with his master, the first pupil of the mighty Kensei steps from his metal steed.

He is large, he is pink and his purple Mohawk is tidy, as always. His impressive girth is adorned in fine shades of blue and lined in gold. A cape, similar in color to his hair although not nearly as luscious, dutifully hangs from his back. His eyes are almost entirely invisible, hidden by result of the permanent smile that seems etched on his rotund face.

"Watcher of the Universe, it is an honor to see you once more."

He says politely with a certain warmth to the words as he bows slightly. Heiwa is always enthused when in the presence of Kensei for it was the Sword Saint who showed him the ways of the universe and who instilled in him his unbreakable spirit and unyielding values. Heiwa looks around the two of them, searching for his brethren.

"I see I am the first to arrive Master Kensei. May I take this time, before the meeting commences, to share with you my utmost gratitude for being allowed to fulfill the position of Northern Kaioshin. I will try to honor the role of guardian of the North quadrant as my predecessor before me."

He said, his smile as large as ever. Since his birth of the golden fruit of the world tree Heiwa had desired peace in all things. Peace for all, however, was a near impossible goal, although he refuses to believe it to be so. It was his master's teachings, however, that made him desire with all of his golden heart to be a protector. If peace could not exist, then at least the innocent could find solace from the evil.

And Heiwa relished in being that solace.

...and then within seconds Baka appeared before the Dai and North Kaioshin, only a mile or two away from them. It had been a long time since Baka had been in Heaven, the last time being when his older brother, Kensei, had congratulated him on his newly gained rank. Since then, Baka had never returned to Heaven since he had been so busy training. In fact, Baka was a bit confused as to why he was called to Heaven. Nothing was happening in the East galaxy, and from what Baka knew of the current events of the other galaxies there was nothing urgent to discuss. So why is it now that Kensei called a meeting with all the guardians of the galaxy?

If it was because of Touketsuki Yakedo and the other powerful beings of the west galaxy, then Baka saw no point in all the Kaioshins meeting together. The mortal realm had a way of working itself out, and intervening could possibly mess the whole system out of whack. Still, if it was to happen that the Kaioshins were to intervene, it would be a chance for Baka to prove himself.

After walking up to the two Kaioshins as they both awkwardly stared at him, Baka started to go into a more casual pose, with a hand on his sword's chest strap and another in his pocket. Baka looked around to see if anyone else had arrived in the sort moment of his teleportation, but no one else had come. After a few more minutes of awkward silence, Baka put on a quick smile and greeted his brother.

"Brother! It's so good to see you! It's been a long time since we last saw each other.."

After quickly saying hello to his brother, Baka quickly turned around at Hewia, and bowed in his comrade's honor. From what Baka read, Hewia was the Northern Kaioshin, and been trained by Kensei, and was himself born of the golden fruit. After getting up from his stance Baka quickly let his hand out for a hand shake, as he began to introduce himself.

"Ello, I am the Eastern Kaioshin, and Kensei's younger brother, Baka. I am glad to finally get to meet you..."

Getting up from his bow, another moment of awkward silence began once more, as the three Kaioshins began to wait for the others. From what Baka read the only ones who hadn't showed up were the West and South Kaioshins, and being the wild cards of the group, they were probably waiting to appear in style.

Kasai strolled into the room with humming to himself some music by the Who. As he entered though he stopped and struck a pose before strumming an invisible air guitar.

"Yeah yeah yeah yeah!"

Once he finished the full pin wheel with his arm he once again continued his way into the room. There were three presences. The first was undeniable, it was Dai Kensei who was his long time mentor and master. As he locked eyes with his master he took a step forward, locked his heels together and took a deep bow.

"It is good to see you once again Dai Kensei. It has been too long, I have been gratefully fulfilling my role as Western Kaioshin." Kasai stated as he held the bow for a moment before returning to a normal standing position.

His eyes locked onto the odd looking kai that he did not recognize. He looked him up and down and noticed a similar resemblance to Dai Kensei. He had a sword strung around his hip.

"Who are you?" Kasai asked bluntly.

Before the unknown kai could respond Kasai locked onto the other power level in the room. He turned to see the big pink Northern Kaioshin, Heiwa. Kasai boldly walked over to him and stood about an arm's length away.

"Heiwa. It has been a long time. Much too long. I have become much more powerful and I will be able to beat you now. I can break your guard with just one punch now!" Kasai proudly stated as he raised his fist in front of him and let his power gather around in it creating flames which flew off his knuckles.

His arm suddenly shot out and pointed at the kai that he did not know, his finger extended pointing to him.

"Heiwa. You. Me. Sparring match. Now. The random guy will be the referee!" Kasai challenged the Northern Kaioshin.

Heiwa could hear Kasai coming, there was always the heavy strum of a guitar or a drum roll that accompanied his entrance, something the bastion of peace knew was no coincidence. Kage was all about the grand entrance. In all the hoopla the Northern Kaioshin hadn’t noticed his fellow kai, Baka, had held out his hand as a greeting. Always proper and polite, Heiwa bowed in apology.

“Sincerest apologies my friend, it is good to finally meet you as well. You’re elder brother is the greatest master in the universe and if you are anything like him I am positive you will be a wonderful kaioshin. Welcome to our ranks!”

Turning to his rival of hundreds of years, Heiwa’s squinted eyes open slightly before he lets out a playful giggle. Holding his hands behind his back he responded calmly.

“Now is not the time my dear frienemy, this is a meeting of the Kais, not a sparring match. If you insist to prove your strength then maybe later after the proceedings you can test your fist against my shields.”

Without moving a muscle, Heiwa’s eyes shine as his telekinesis lifts him and turns him back to his sensei.

“Kensei, it appears Jishin is being held up, should we begin and fill him in when he arrives?”

Kensei smiles at Heiwa's arrival. He had such a weird obsession with that vehicle, especially considering he had little-to-no chances to actually drive the thing - Snake Way had been closed for the best part of five hundred years due to the latest in automation technology, and well... you couldn't really drive the thing around one of the smaller Cardinal planets, where he resided. Still, though, he would allow Heiwa his eccentricities - it was things like that that fascinated the Sword Saint about life forms. He just nods at Heiwa's statement about being chosen for the position of North Kaioshin, before smiling. "Aye, you are the first, but..." He begins to say, before Baka flew over.

"Hello, brother. How goes the sword play?" He murmurs, smiling slightly. His brother had always been close to him in skill, but could just... never quite best him. However, he made Kensei proud, and given the time he could equal or even best the Sword Saint. And then, cutting across his train of thought as was the usual during training... the brash, rockin' Kaio appeared. Kensei had to chuckle. He had picked this one for both his flare and his ability to pick up new techniques. "Now Kasai, this is no time for any fighting," the Dai Kaio says calmly, a small charge of electricity dancing between his finger-tips - a habit he had picked up sub-conciously.

He sighs. Jinshin could join later on, he supposed - it would be pretty simple to bring him up to speed.

"Alright, my friends - current affairs in the mortal realm that need to be monitored are the progress of Touketsuki Yakedo the Icer Lord, Boliko Koregutsu the Saiyan King and the strange being known as Virion, as well as the general developments on Earth." The latter being, Virion, perplexed the Dai Kaio - he had only come to his attention recently as his power began to grow, but his existence seemed to be anomalous. Great Old One were the words that sprung to his lips, but Virion was not this - he just seemed to be a genetic experiment. But what was his origin? He recalled stories of a similar being from over a thousand years ago from his own master, but...

"I suppose you people have been following these affairs instead of trying to drive or rocking out?" He says to Heiwa and Kasai, with a small twitch at the corner of his lip.

(Hey sorry it is out of order a bit but I just couldn't help myself. In my honest opinion this thread might work relatively well as a bit more free form without the posting order. Speak against if you disagree.)

As Dai Kensei spoke Kasai turned to face him. He had the utmost respect for his master but he kept the corner of his eye Heiwa. He knew that now was perhaps not the best time to challenge to a sparring match but he could not help but feel excited to show off the power that he had attained since becoming the Western Kaioshin.

"I suppose you people have been following these affairs instead of trying to drive or rocking out?" Dai Kensei said with a tone that was directly point at both Heiwa and Kasai. Kasai averted his eyes for a moment before stepping away from Heiwa.

Kasai took several steps before jumping into the air and levitating in a sitting position. The silver pony tail fluttered slightly while the close cut of his mohawk didn't move an inch. It was true that Kasai had been enjoying the perks of being Western Kaioshin and had been listening to a lot of rock music since becoming the guardian. But he had also been training relentlessly which he figured that his master no doubt had noticed.

"I am not sure about Heiwa or the new guy but I have training quite seriously since becoming a guardian. So Dai Kensei I do not know why you throw the accusation around that I have been just 'rocking out'." Kasai said with a hint of laughter behind his words. He had always enjoyed being a pain in his master's side.

Kasai's brow stiffened and his eyes narrowed once he regained his composure. They were locked on Kensei and Kasai tried to clear his mind as best he could.

"Even though it is Heiwa's responsibility to look over Earth I could not help but notice the battles and destruction. The final battle is soon to come between the Saiyan and the Icer just as it had in the past with Freiza and Son Goku. I must say, that whoever comes out of this as the victor will be weakened at first but will reach an all new power level soon after. We must step in to finish off the victor no matter who it is, neither can be trusted and both threats must be neutralized." Kasai said with a fiery tone as he could only imagine the battle that he would be able to partake in.

Jishin flew through the rip in space/time and tumbled across the floor. He rolled backwards and landed on his feet, just a few feet away from Kensei. He immediately turned and bowed low before his former sensei and now leader. Putting his arm across his heart.

"My master, I am so sorry I am late. I assure you I know how much of an honor It is to be here. I thank you very much for the honor of the position of Southern Kaioshin. I promise I will not fail you. You are an inspiration to us all!"

He stood up straight from his bow and turned to face his counterparts, The Northern, Eastern and Western Kaioshins. He bowed in respect to each of them, they were all incredible warriors and Jishin respected that. Heiwa was a little bit too much of a peace hippie, but Jishin liked him all the same. Kasai was a bit unbalanced, but Jishin had no problem with that, as he was a bit unbalanced himself. They both were obsessed with their physical features, but in Jishin’s opinion his was better, though he was sure Kasai would disagree. Baka was an unknown to Jishin, the only thing he really knew about him was that he was his masters brother.

“Greatings fellow Kaioshins. I am Jishin, the Southern Kaioshin. It is an honor to work with each and every one of you. I hope that together we can all make the universe a safer place.”

He once again turned to face Kensei.

“My master I apologize for any trouble my lateness may have caused. I beg your forgiveness.”

He turned to face all the other kai’s.

“What have I missed?”

Kasai turned his head slightly as Jishin popped out of the hole in space time or something along that matter. With a slight huff Kasai Kage turned his head back to his master Kensei. Kasai had never thought too highly of Jishin just because of his ego. He had always thought of himself as the best looking kaioshin in the universe. Kasai though had proven lately that he could wrestle that title away. In the last four installments of the ten year cyclical poll of the kaioshin to determine who was the sexiest of them all Kasai Kage had beaten out Jishin, the polls creator. He had loved watching his face when the results would come out but of late he just couldn’t stand being around him. Kasai on some level doubted Dai Kensei’s choice to name him the southern kaioshin.

“Bou time you showed up.” Kasai stated in a peeved tone. “Here we have our first meeting of the newly anointed cardinal kaioshin and you are late. Anyways…”Kasai said turning back to his mentor and master.

“What do you propose we do about Boliko or Suki when they have finally clashed and only one is left standing? Because without your intervention directly there is no way that Heiwa would be able to protect Earth with their ungodly power levels.”

Kasai added the last little bit to jab at his old rival in strength; it was also amusing to try and get a reaction out of the normally composed kaioshin. Kasai though ground his teeth a bit at the idea that two of his rivals were also named Cardinal Kaioshin.

Baka stood silent, as he watched Kasai make a...unique entrance. After talking to Kensei, Kasai started to take a seat, until he noticed Baka, looking at him as if he was trying to figure out why such a puny looking guy was here. After checking him out for a while, Kasai finally asked who the new guy was, but before Baka could answer, Kasai started to walk towards Hewia, creating a newly tense atmosphere for everyone.

"Heiwa. It has been a long time. Much too long. I have become much more powerful and I will be able to beat you now. I can break your guard with just one punch now!" Soon after requesting a match, Kasai pointed straight at Baka, saying that he could be the referee. This upset Baka, mostly for the fact that he felt that this was starting to be a huge waste of time. This was supposed to be a meeting of the minds, not a match to see who was the strongest of the group.

Luckily, before anything happened, Kensei broke the match up, and began the meeting.

Almost out of nowhere Baka began to clinch his fists, enraged by the very idea Kasai offered. This was the exact thing that Baka was hoping wouldn't happen, yet here was the first offer on the table. Baka tired to calm down, remembering that it was not right to get angry at a mere suggestion, or to think one Kaioshin is a better then another. Kasai had been the South Kaioshin longer then Baka had been the Easteren Kaioshin, and had a lot more exprience then he did. Still, messing with the realm of the living would just upset the balance. As Baka struggled to clam down, Jishin appeared, asking to be updated on what had happened so far.

"Jishin, we are discussing on how to deal with the beings of the realm of the living who have massive amounts of power, that are most likely going to just keep growing. Kasai here has suggested we ourselves deal with the situation..." Baka started to clinch his fists once more, as his anger only began to grow. "...BUT I DISAGREE! THE REALM OF THE LIVING HAS A WAY OF WORKING ITSELF OUT, AND IF WE GO IN THERE WE COULD MESS IT UP!!! WE MUST ONLY GO TAMPER WITH THE LIVING IF NEEDED!!!!"

Baka himself didn't know where this anger was coming from, but he knew that his tone of voice would most likely shock the rest of those at the meeting, and possibly offend some.

Kasai could feel an energy spike off to his right. If he was not mistaken it was coming from the small unknown kaioshin. His eyes narrowed as he felt the energy from the kaioshin. The only time a person let that type of spike occur was when someone lost their temper.

His attention slowly spun to the short Eastern Kaioshin who had never been seen by Kasai even though he had spent an incalculable amount of time on the Sacred Kaio home world.

"Jishin, we are discussing on how to deal with the beings of the realm of the living who have massive amounts of power, that are most likely going to just keep growing. Kasai here has suggested we ourselves deal with the situation...BUT I DISAGREE! THE REALM OF THE LIVING HAS A WAY OF WORKING ITSELF OUT, AND IF WE GO IN THERE WE COULD MESS IT UP!!! WE MUST ONLY GO TAMPER WITH THE LIVING IF NEEDED!!!!"

Kasai watched the Eastern kaioshin's fist clench and instantly the Western Kaioshin knew that this kaioshin was getting in more than he could handle. He unfolded his legs and lightly touched the ground.

"Let me ask you a question...little kai...have you ever seen battle? And I don't mean sparring or practice I mean battle? You look like you have never taken a step outside of a library, learning everything you know from books and old scrolls. Because if you haven't then you have no idea what it is like to fight knowing that this very well could be the final moment before you die, to feel your heart pounding against your chest, having your breathing shallow to almost nothing and you muscles screaming in pain as you push your body harder than it wants to make sure that you come out alive." Kasai started as he walked over until he stood in front of the Eastern Kaioshin.

"Now imagine that except your opponent is on an entirely different level. A level that most people could not even imagine. That person being able to completely wipe out close to every single being in the universe. One that even rivals all our powers combined here today. So to me the idea that any proposal to eliminate those threats, threats even to ourselves, seems idiotic and foolish is asinine. And the person who objects to it is fooling himself that the world of the living would be able to cope with such thing...is...is...naive." Kasai said as he stared into eyes of the Eastern Kaioshin. He was completely calm minded and in complete control.

"However our actions are decided on by Dai Kensei," Kasai said with a smile not breaking direct eye contact with the Eastern Kaioshin. "So Dai Kensei what do we do?"

I would like to give this thread the opportunity to conclude, I will grade it for effort at the end of the week if no one else posts, but we have several Kai's, there is no reason this cannot be continued.
