Day One -
It had been nearly a week since Xero had left the planet Kold. He was rushed off by his leader, Virion, who advised him to leave the battle behind him. Xero knew he was not strong enough to help Virion; he would have only been in the way. So he jumped in his ship, and headed for Namek.
Though Namek was not too far from Kold (about a three day travel), Xero had been inside his small, one seat, space pod for six days. And he had not once been able to located the emerald planet.
Opening his computer for the third time that day, he quickly typed in the coordinates for the planet. This time, he got back a reply. As he read the small print on the screen, a look of confusion covered his face.
- Planet "Namek" cannot be located.-
Typing in a quick line to reply, it responded once more.
-Coordinate input can not be reached. Please input a different set of coordinates.-
But it couldn't be. What could be happening to such a large planet? What better way to find out, but than to try contacting his infected brethren.
Closing his eyes, Xero focused on his Infection. He reached for his Namekian brothers, but his calls fell short. It seemed like the planet didn't exist. But how was that possible? He had been there a few years ago, and there had been no signs of an apocalypse.
As he tried again, he could feel something pushing him back, as if there was some kind of barrier around the planet. The planet was there, but he could no enter or locate it. Not even in his mental realm.
Taking a deep breath, he looked back into the computer screen. It was time for him to eat and stretch his legs. He would have to land somewhere. He quickly asked the computer to locate the closest planet and take him there.
He could feel the g-force shift as the ship was rerouted. In about an hour, the ship would land, and Xero would discover a world he'd never imagined.
-Destination: Armailiah-
The ship landed roughly, as it always had, and the pod's door opened. As the hot, humid air hit Xero's lungs, they began to burn, causing him to go into a coughing fit. There was a stench in the air, death mixed with decay, and Xero could tell, he had landed on the wrong planet.
Stepping foot onto the strange planet, Xero took his first look of the planet. The trees seemed shiny and rough. They were some kind of metal, and looked as if pieced together.
The ground, itself was rough as well, and instead of dirt, there was pavement-like base, pieces of metal strung out to replace rocks. The sky was oddly dark, and as Xero looked up, he could see why.
Six moons hung above the planet, each with a bright red circle in the center, resembling three sets of eyes watching over. They sky itself had not visible stars, and instead of a blue of black background, it was a dark green.
Turning in a circle, Xero took all the surroundings in. The Hellbringer within him seemed to act oddly. He could feel it within him pulsing, as if trying to tell him something.
His eyes settled on a strange array of radiating light. It looked like it was coming from a large gathering of buildings, but he could not see over the tree-line, if you could even call it that.
The metal trees were twice as plentiful as on Earth or Namek, even in the most densely forested areas. It seemed almost intentional, as if someone wanted to hide something.
Xero took into the air, attempting to see over the trees, but as he neared the tip of the tallest, he got the shock of his life. Literally.
As a high volt shock ran through Xero's body, his body tensed and he fell about thirty feet, landing on his back. His eyes fluttered as he swore he heard a strange grinding noise, then everything went silent and black.
There were only small glimpses of consciousness. Xero caught the surroundings moving, heard some more grinding, then passed out once more.
When he awoke, he was in a small cell, about ten feet by ten feet. There were no windows, doors, or light bulbs; however the ceiling glowed a dim blue, allowing him to see.
He was naked, and his body felt chill against the cold metal walls. It seemed to him that the planet was just like that, made of metals.
Inside his body, the Hellbringer burns, pulses feeling much stronger than when he had first landed. He could not explain it, but again, it seemed like it was trying to tell him something. He knew the Hellbringer would speak, if it wished, but perhaps it wanted Xero to find out for himself.
Xero stood, and his hand struck one of the walls. There was a loud twang, like a hammer hitting sheet metal, and Xero smiled. The wall was weak, and he was not.
Placing both his hands against the wall, he channeled his ki, blasting it into it. As the ki exploded outward, the wall went with it, allowing him to escape his prison. On the other side was a hall, which shared the same characteristics of the cell, the glowing blue ceiling, the only thin different was the air, which tasted cool and crisp.
As Xero stepped out, the blue ceiling changed red, and began to flash. A siren then went off, and he knew he might be in trouble. His first move was to go left, and as he ran down the hall, he realized it was the wrong one.
Ahead of him, about fifty feet, was a dead end. Looking over his shoulder, he could see movement, and whatever it was was closing in on him.
Instinctively, his left hand shot up, and a blast fired towards the wall, tearing into it just as before. He quickly leaped through the hole, and into a nightmare.
As he landed, there was a roar, that sounded oddly mechanical, and he was plunged into complete darkness. He could hear movement, and he carefully walked in a wide circle, his feet feeling like he was stepping on glass.
A light turned on above him, shining a familiar blue. As it illuminated the area around him, it gave no clue as to what might be in the darkness past it. This room was huge, and Xero only stood at the center.
"Do not move!" Someone commanded. The voice sounded like it came from a walkie-talkie with a bad connection.
Xero's feet stopped as he look around, trying to pinpoint the someone it came from.
A second light turned on on the ceiling. As it illuminated the ground below it, Xero made out a terrifying creature. Standing on six long legs, each with a set of ten shiny metal claws that went completely around it's feet, was a beast like no other. It stood at nearly twelve feet high, towering over Xero's tall figure.
It's face was a metal circle, only carrying a few features. First, there was a set of horns, which pointed towards it prey, each resembling a beastly drill-bit. Second, was the three holes in the center of the face, which let out a huff of steam as whatever it was seemed to breath. And lastly was its huge mouth, which was positioned in a horrifying grin, baring thousands of large, sharply serrated teeth. If its mouth opened, it would reveal even more spirals of teeth, which spun in a grinding fashion, right into the beast's belly.
Its torso was made out of the same metal, but looked as though pieced together, like the trees, with grayer rivets. It was not proportionate to the head and legs at all, looking fairly short. On either side hung two arms, each with a metal set of jaws for hands, which chomped menacingly towards Xero.
It was like something taken directly out of a nightmare, and even though it looked like machine, Xero could tell that was not the case. This metal was an organic material, and it seemed that, somehow the whole planet shared it.
Xero took a step back, only to be ordered to not move once again. This time, he responded, his eyes never leaving the large monster in front of him, "Show yourself!" He demanded, his bare foot slamming onto the sharp ground. Luckily the bottoms of his feet retained some of the Hellbringer's metal, allowing them to take much more of a beating.
As in answer, the ceiling lit up in a circle around them. It revealed an empty, large circular room. To Xero's surprise, he could make out a small figure behind the monster.
It stood at about two feet tall, wearing metal armor that reminded him of a knight. It walked forwards, towards Xero, a metallic chuckle leaving it as it stopped ten feet short.
"Not only have your trespassed onto our planet, alien. You have destroyed out building. You will pay the ultimate price. Your life."
A small chuckle left Xero in response as he placed a hand on his forehead, "You don't underst-"
"Shut up and die!" The little creature shouted, before turning to the beast beside him. There was a loud grinding noise, then a recognizable metallic roar.
The large beast rushed forward, the drills on it's head spinning, and it's five mouths chomping viciously, ready to devour the naked man standing before them.
It chomped downward at Xero, sharp mouth open, barely avoided being eaten, jumping to the left. As his feet skidded across the ground, two more mouths, from the beast's left hands, came flying towards him, only to smash into the ground and Xero backflipped to avoid them.
The beast might have been large, but it was not slow by any means. It roared, picking itself off the ground and turning back to face its prey once more. In seconds, it leapt into the air, all four hands cocked back, and released them as it landed where Xero stood.
As one of the mouthed-hands headed for Xero, his arms shot up into the sky, ready to catch it. If done wrong, Xero would be squashed, but if done right...
His hands connected, holding the chomping mouth above his head. He could smell a mixture of burning rubber, metal, and death as it desperately bit at him.
His eyes darted right with enough time to see a second hand headed for him, mouth open wide, teeth gleaming. Quick thinking saved his life.
Jumping into the air, he used the hand he held to push himself higher, thus propelling the hand into the ground. As the second hand connected, it tore the other to shreds.
Landing a few feet away, Xero watched the beast roar with pain, holding up what was now a severed stump, black oil-like blood spurting out like Water from Old Faithful.
A smirk appeared on his face as he got some more distance between them, ready to continue. His right hand flexed, a ball of ki appearing in it. As it doubled in size, becoming he size of a soccer ball, he pressed his left a hand against it, followed by pressing both hands together. The ball squished with his hands, soon forming a small disk. While holding onto the disk, his hand shot above his head, allowing the disk to beginning spinning. The spinning allowed the disk to triple in size, and soon above his head was a disc ten feet in diameter. With a light chuckle, he threw the disk at the beast.
Still caught off guard by it's severed hand the large creature had no time to react. As the disk hit it, it was torn into two pieces, a torso and legs. As it fell to the ground, more oil-like blood pooled around him. It was dead.
The smaller being jumped back as his creature fell. It roared out a metallic static sound, then rushed at Xero. As it neared him, it seemed to vanish. Before Xero could turn, a sharp fist connected with his back, causing him to fly forward, face skidding across the ground.
It laughed sadistically, "You may have been able to defeat our Mechaint, but I assure you, I am a much more talented fighter."
The small creature then rushed at him, a blade taking place of it's left arm. It was a trick Xero knew all too well, but it did surprise him. Lunging at him, the creature attempted to stab him in the gut.
Sidestepping, Xero fired a blast point-blank at it. As the blast connected, the creature was knocked back, but by no means damaged. Xero would have to stick with melee to defeat this opponent.
As the creature ran toward Xero once again, if cocked it's arm back, preparing to slash him. It was time for Xero to finally shape up, and finish this. Cocking his own hand back, he swung, allowing the Hellbringer to materialize in his hand. At the same time, the creature swung as well, causing the sword and legendary ax to collide.
The sword's blade gave out, snapping and sending a sharp tip off into the distance. A smirk appeared on Xero's face as the Hellbringer vanished.
Though he could not see a look on the alien's face, he could tell by the reaction it was surprised. Stepping back, it began to stutter, same metallic tone fading in and out, "B-b-but... I-I-I..." It could not continue as it fell to a knee.
Looking up toward Xero, the armor around it's face began to fold backwards, revealing the true face of the creature. It's skin was still a metal, but much paler compared to the armor. Where eyes should have sat, were three small, black dots, not much bigger than a pupil. Where a mouth would sit was a slotted speaker-like device.
It's head was rather flat, but had no corners. Also, he bared no nose or ears. It was a very odd sight to behold as Xero stared into his face.
"Y-you C-can't be..." It managed to get out, shaking its head as if trying to work something out, "It is not possible..."
"What are you talking about?" Xero asked, pointing a finger at his attacker, "You caged me, stripped me, attacked me, and now are rambling on like an idiot? I only landed on this metallic hell-hole for a stretch and some food!"
The sudden outburst seemed to wake the creature from it's trance. It stood up and nodded, "My apologies. We will have a meal and your gear readied for you at once."
Before Xero could respond, the creature had vanished in a poof of smoke. Literally. This left Xero questioning everything. The planet was unlike any other. A place where a metal can be organic. The creatures here seemed to be intelligent, but erratic, not seeming to think things through. It also seemed like perhaps they had taken Xero hostage under false pretenses, or mistaken him for a threat. But what would have changed their mind? One second the thing was trying to kill him, and in the blink of an eye it was apologizing? Nothing was adding up.
