Due to my recent find of my beloved SoulSilver game, I have come to the realisation that I CRAVE to do a pokemon Nuzlocke. Since I can't record things from my 3DS, instead I'll be doing it off an emulator on my laptop.
The game I'll be using is Pokemon Emerald.
Now, for those of you who don't know, the Nuzlocke rules are fairly basic: when one of your pokemon faints, he/she/it is dead. Permanently. You can't go back to a pokemon center and revive it, that's against the rules. You can either put it in your box, never to be used again, or release it.
There are also some additions to the Nuzlocke rules, most of which are so common as to be fully adapted into the play style itself. The most common of these is the rule that you may only catch one pokemon per area. A few others are you can only use pokemon centers once, only use pokeballs, just random things to make the game harder.
The rules I shall be following, with their minor twists and variants:
-When a pokemon faints, it is dead, and to be released at the nearest pokemon center.
-Utilise whatever tools you have to ensure victory.
-If a pokemon faints in battle, and you have a revive, you may revive your pokemon IN BATTLE. You may only revive ONE pokemon per battle, and only ONCE.
-Can only catch ONE pokemon per area. However, this does not apply until I obtain pokeballs to catch them with.
And, of course, it just wouldn't be right without the RANDOM PLOT TWIST!!
I will be Nuzlocking on Pokemon Emerald using an Emerald Randomizer. What this does: all pokemon, aside from trainer pokemon, are completely randomized (per are, ie. in the first area you can catch Wurmple; it will be replaced with a random pokemon in the pokedex. In other areas with Wurmple, they may be replaced with something completely different). The Starters are completely randomized, and whatever I start with, is holding a masterball (since the randomization of pokemon puts harder to catch pokemon in the beginning, this is an aid to help the player start off). This allows for another rule: 2 mulligans. If I don't like the pokemon I rolled, I can reroll twice, but the third roll is permanent.
Anyway, I'll try to keep a video log, as well as word summaries. Hope you look forward to this as much as I do!
First update: Didn't have to mulligan! Starter choices were Lugia, Swalot, and Jirachi. Now, while Lugia may seem like the most obvious choice, don't let him fool you. He starts off at Level 5, like all the other starters. This means that his only move is Whirlwind (remember, this is Generation 3). While he does come with a masterball, I would like to point out that last time I started out with Lugia, it wasn't until about level 25ish that he actually learned an attack move (or maybe it was Ho-Oh?). Either way, Lugia is out. And Swalot? Really? This left the only obvious choice to be Jirachi, with a movest of Wish, Confusion, and Rest.
And as quickly as it started, it ended. I caught a minun and togepi, neither of which have an attack move at levels 3-5. I attempted to catch a porygon 2, but failed, and went to fight my first trainer. He throws out a poochyena, I attack with a Confusion...and it does nothing. With my only attacking pokemon out of the game, I decided to call this round quits, and to try again!

Take 2!
Started with a Growlithe.
I forgot to save, and so the ten minutes of update was completely useless. Apologies for anybody following along.
