Tall grass brushed against the knees of the tall Namekian orphan as he walked through a calm field devoid of anything but. Trees, rocks, nothing was there to get in the way of what had been planned for the day and the Crane student wouldn't have had it any other way. He found a small clearing amongst the grass and slowly lowered himself down into a cross-legged sit, placing his hands palm open on his kneecaps as he closed his eyes and waited patiently. He didn't sense anything yet, so it seemed he would have enough time to himself to reflect on everything that had brought him to where he was now. Pictures flashed in his head as memories began to pour in, and Gaida let a small smile make its way across his face as he began to meditate in the small clearing.
He thought of ''home'', or at least, that's what he felt he was supposed to call it. Namek for a short time had been all he ever knew, and as soon as he knew ''home'' for what it was, it had been stripped away. He reflected on his failures of living up to become one of the Warrior Clan; his rejection by his peers, the sneers and scoldings of his teachers. His smile crept into a frown as he remembered his guardian's last moments before being turned to ash in a flash of light as the escape pod blasted out of the atmosphere, and he recalled his crash landing where two Earthlings, which he now grew accustomed to calling ''Humans'', found him. They brought him to what they called home and shared it with him, and in turn he showed them his real potential and ended up a fine martial artist in his own right.
As soon as the pictures began to slow, he felt energy signatures on the horizon; faint, but certainly existent. He could immediately tell them apart; Lei and Lee, the brothers who found him that day and gave him everything he knew now. In but a few moments the two landed in the clearing and it Gaida opened his eyes to smirk; he could never get over how similar their names were, often confusing them, and how completely different the two looked.
Lei was the calm and reserved brother of the two. His head of brown hair was always masterfully braided and woven into a long tail that made its way from the back of his head down to his waist, complete with a full set of bangs and sideburns. He was a lanky thing but deceptively fast and strong for his appearance, and deeply spiritual in all things. He was the philosopher and one who always looked for the deeper meaning in everything he experienced, while his brother Lee was the bull-headed down to earth Yang to his brother's Yin. It was always interesting training with them both.
Lee, on the other hand, dedicated the most of his training to physical strength. His grasp of ki was basic and limited, but his energy wild and untamed. It worked to his advantage in certain situations. He was muscular with black hair swept back and held still by a headband. Even in appearances the two were opposite, the only thing matching today would be the gi they both wore to prepare for this bittersweet event. Lei spoke up first. ''So, just like we agreed then? We're to test your ability to use your strength in the right way and hold your own out there. We don't want to lose you if you're not ready, Gaida.''
Lee decided to blurt in next. ''Thank you, ever-so-obvious Lei. You know the drill, we've planned this since he was a kid! If we beat him into the dirt here then there's no way he's ready for what he might find out there. Let's cut the chatter and get this started!'' He bounced about in place eagerly, throwing shadow-punches and loosening up. Gaida rose from his sitting posture and cracked his knuckles before dropping into his Crane School stance with a smirk on his face. ''For once I think i'll agree with Lee. Two on one, and don't you dare take it easy on me!'' The two brothers smiled at each other and nodded, then nodded to their Namekian friend. A moment's stare down would be the only silence, a calm before the storm, before Lee rushed in with Lei right behind him.
Gaida dropped back and followed their momentum in defensive retreat, parrying away Lee's strikes. When Lei popped in for a surprise offensive, Gaida used an After-Image to slip around to the flank and deliver a strong kick to Lee to send him flying and break the pair up. The following small bout between the older brother and the Namekian consisted of systemic advance and retreat with their feet on the ground, parrying and evading each other while the more hot-headed brother recovered. It wouldn't be long before several basic ki blasts entered the fray from the younger himself, creating a cloud of smoke. Gaida let his aura burst forth to clear it away and found himself surprised; Lei had disappeared, and Lee blind-sided him with a heavy punch to the jaw sending him skidding.
Seeing a shadow on the ground as he caught himself and slid backward on his ankles, he peered up in shock as Lei followed his momentum perfectly with a somersault through the air with his heel ready to smash down. Barely evading as the kick struck a hole into the ground and sent small rocks scattering, Gaida made himself solid on his own two feet with a sudden stop in time to evade another charging punch by Lee with centimeters to spare. He torqued his body and slammed his knee into the hot-headed youth's torso, then gave him a rough uppercut to send him skyward before taking off in pursuit. He was abruptly halted by a powerful kick from Lei, sending him back down to the ground.
Gaida smirked and extended his arm, hand open with the palm up as he began charging a ball of energy; his personal technique, the Arc Bomb. The two students readied Crane signature Dodon Rays to counter, but the Namekian had caught them off guard. He jumped and slammed the energy ball directly beneath him to avoid its blast, but it had created a large smoke screen for him to move about freely. Lei and Lee peered at each other and announced in unison; ''Back to back!'' They pressed against each other to try and cover all angles of attack and defense in a hurry.
Gaida came dashing through the air at their center from above, using a split kick to knock them away from each other. He smirked again as he extended his arm in a long stretch that caught Lei by the foot, turning and torquing his entire body with a loud yell as his arm roped and coiled downward toward the ground where he slammed the elder brother into the ground, finishing with an After-Image to deliver a powerful kick to him while on the ground. Lee charged in recklessly once again, allowing Gaida to evade and grasp his striking arm and throw him over his shoulder. He burst off of the ground after him as he was sent sailing.
He let out a growl as he delivered the first strike of a vicious body-assaulting combination, slamming his fist into his stomach before keeping his air momentum and spinning into a strong kick to assault the ribs. Continuing from there he delivered a vicious elbow to the side of Lee's head before increasing his speed and tackling him at the waist, tackling him into the dirt and using him as a make-shift brake for his own purpose. He fell backwards onto his haunches after they came to a full stop, and the brothers stood and clambered over to sit with him.
They both nodded to each other after a few minutes of catching their breath, Gaida included. ''Don't worry you two, i'll be sure to visit sometime...'' He held back a chuckle. ''Well, I was just going to say...'' ''I think he gets it Lei. Shut up already. You went down first so go grab the water!'' The Namekian joined the hot-head in a laugh as Lei shook his head with a smirk, making his way over to a bag of bottled water.
