Basic Swordsmanship training
Is currently a student, studying to master the use of a sword in fighting, has been practicing swordsmanship since the age of 8, but by no means is a master at it.
sword-and-gauntlet martial arts
is currently developing a fighting style that employs the use of grabs and punches whilst wearing a gauntlet on off-hand with a heavier hand-and-half sword in main hand for general fighting purposes. Until mastery of this style is gained, there is always a chance of reduced harm from strikes or a missed chance at a grapple
Lack of any training for ki-based beam attacks: Can only use his Ki to maintain a sort of battle meditation in order to perform what forms he knows as far as his swordplay goes, as well as increasing the strength of his strikes and allowing for a minor ki-based energy slash at a distance. With ki-based energy slash, the farther away the target, the weaker the strike becomes until at 50 yards, the energy is dissipated. This effect is in place until appropriate training to build ki focus increases and increased energy output granted to him.

:History:
From a young Age of 8, Lykas Sakyl was brought to the Kikoukenjutsu Sword School where he learned to wield a weapon under the guidance of the two masters, as he developed his strength over time. Once when he was 12 years old, he was raking the grounds of the school when he came across an unused shed he had not seen before. Upon opening it, he found a claymore re-balanced with a hand-and-a-half grip. The masters noticed him using it a few days later. They had brought him in for a discussion about it before ultimately allowing him to keep it as a personal weapon, after seeing how well he had been taking care of it. He has been practicing with it in solo practice sessions ever since, practicing the older parts of bushido as well as working on the basic moves. Eventually he grew strong enough to be able to wield it one-handed for shorter periods of time before his arm would tire and he would be forced to rest, or risk damaging his precious weapon. At the age of 13 and a half, he was sent by the masters into a nearby town for a few items, as well as giving him a bit of pocket money for extra work he had been performing in the gardens and the grounds. It was there that he discovered a merchant wearing a thick robe calling for people to come examine his wares. Lykas then discovered a chitin gauntlet that caught his interest. It had no mate upon the table, but he asked the merchant about it. The being tried to point Lykas to it's other wares before it finally relented and made an bet; if the gauntlet fit Lykas, it would be his for 100 zeni. Lykas had slipped it on, and it fit like, well, a glove. The merchant received it's coin and Lykas left, wearing the gauntlet on his right arm, feeling the weight of it as he completed his collection of the items he was sent to purchase. After he returns to the School, he dropped off the items he had gathered and proceeded to practice with his swordplay as he had always done, except from that moment, he started to throw a few punches while working upon wielding his claymore one-handed. He had quickly learned that with what he knew from basic swordplay, and combining it with what he had learned in the few basic martial art classes he had taken for basic hand-to-hand combat, he could actually provide just as much harm as standard, but also be able to throw his opponent off balance or surprise them with a punch when they least expect it in the close quarters that comes with swordplay. He had continued to practice until the age of 14, when the masters, wanting to see why he had continued to wear the glove while practicing and wondering what he was doing, put him into a fighting ring against another student, where he must prove the effectiveness of the new fighting style against traditional swordplay values.
