'Wake up, you wont learn anything if you sleep all day'
Tenshu awoke to the blaring light of day that was Namek, although it was always bright, it was something he never did get used to waking up to. The fire was burning brightly in camp, it was unusual for Namek to see such cold weather, but being in the mountains most of the locals had grown accustom to a cold spell here and there.
Tenshu made his way out of the shaman tent, it was smaller than you would think for a tent that was meant to me a medic area, but his father insisted that anything bigger would throw off his mojo, and so the clan gave him a few small tarps and twigs to put up a makeshift tent. Tenshu insisted that the tent at the very least be increased if they were going to live their, but his father wouldn't hear anything of it.
This didnt bother Tenshu as much as one may think, you see he was never one to complain, and he had a great deal of respect for his father, so if their wishes did not see eye to eye, Tenshu would simply fold knowing father knows best, even when it seemed as though this was untrue.
Walking out into the center of their small village Tenshu was met immediately by other namekian who had problems for him to solve, the 15 year old was the fourth youngest namek in his tribe, and yet was the most resoursful, the elders would call on him on a regular basis to solve problems, fix things, and of course heal the sick.
His father, having finally trained a predecessor who could take over his job, was now primarily used for religious purposes, which surprisingly was actually the part time job of a shaman. It was strange to admit, but young Tenshu had already become more adept than his father in many things such as herb gathering, pain dulling, and energy enhancing, however he couldnt seem to grasp the actual art of healing. Whenever he would practice on animals, Tenshu would always be unsuccessful.

'Son you need to focus your ki into the palm of your hands, but do not allow it to come out to quickly, a slow, even flow is required to heal, otherwise you will end up causing more damage'
The young namekian put out both hands and tried once more on the small green frog that was in-front of him, the frog had a broken its leg and was looking for help, but this is not at all what he had expected. As the namekian released his energy, his leg began to shift, the bones trying to reconnect, however after a few moments the experiment when array, the bone shot through the frogs leg, causing the frog to twist and writhe in pain.
Tenshu's father, knowing that this was a failed experiment held out one hand and save the little critter from his son. The bone was fixed, and the frog wasted no time getting out of the tent, hopping off the examining table, and out the tent flap as quickly as its newly healed leg would take it.
Tenshu fell backwards, curling his knee's up to his chin and began to sulk, try as he might he had always been unsuccessful, and the failure was starting to get to him.
His father sensed his sons distress and sat next to him, handing him a small herb. Tenshu looked at the herb for only a moment before handing it back to his father.
"Daddy i do not need a nigai root right now, these are for extracting venom"
His father took the root back from his son and then smiled, removing his mask for his son to see.
'Your right, boy if only i would have known that, its a good thing you are here Ten' otherwise i would be putting this in my soup thinking its something else'
He then poked his son's side, this tickled him, and Tenshu began to laugh and struggle from his father's playful tickling. When all was said and done Tenshu looked back down at the ground, although his dad had managed to cheer him up, that did not stray the fact that he still could not heal correctly.
"Daddy....will i ever be as good as you are at healing with my Ki"
His father thought for a moment, rubbing his lower chin and looking his son up and down for a moment before letting out a disheartening sigh and replying
'I don't know Ten'
Tenshu curled his lip, he had always tried not to cry when things got tough, but hearing those words from his father was highly demoralizing, he got up and began to walk out before hearing his father finish the though he was on.
'I don't know if we could compare the two skills....because you are going to have surpassed me so far, that you will even think about healing'
Tenshu let out a smile and the tears finally came out, he ran and hugged his father, even though he wasn't very responsive, his father did let out a brief smirk, he knew that his words were true, and that his son was a prodigy far greater than any other Namek on this planet, he just needed to hone his skills i mean really....no 4 year old namek could heal.....but Tenshu would be the firs
[glow=red,2,300]~End flashback~[/glow]
Yes Tenshu had not yet perfected his technique, he was masterful in all other aspects of medicine, but could not successfully heal major injuries, this however would soon change. The guru called in the shaman from around the planet for a small conference, and this meant that the village healer would be gone. The village did plan accordingly, the postponed all hunting trips, and made sure to keep things safe during this time. Of course the village would be safe, they had shunketsu guarding them. Shun was the village warrior, one of the best in the land, so no other tribes would attack knowing that Shun was there to defend.
Or so they though
Two nights after the shaman had left the village was indeed attacked, it started off as any normal peaceful night. Tenshu went to sleep in the small medic tent and began to dream, even his dreams had become about medicine, what herbs to use in his next potion, what spices would help the warriors stamina, and what roots would dull the pain for elder gorums stomach pains. His dreams even seemed to help at times, delving deep into his subconscious mind to find the answer to even the most difficult questions.
Suddenly and without warning three tribesmen entered the ten, two of them carrying Shunketsu. Tenshu awoke instantly and although he was groggy did jump to action immediately. Shun was bleeding heavily, his right leg had deep lacerations, and his left antenna had been blown completely off, this was including his torn arm ligaments, and the fracture that was no doubt on the Namekians skull, this was a job meant for his father, Tenshu had never completed an operation this fierce.
The other Namekians watched as Tenshu first pulled out his medicines, he gave the suffering namek a hourn root to dull his intense pain, he then rubbed his wounds with the crushed seed of a forpa, in order to harden the blood and begin scabbing. He did this quickly however the other namekians began to complain
'Tenshu, just heal him, herbs are good over time, but this is serious, they are still out there we need him now!'
Tenshu took a deep breath and looked at Shun, who had opened his eyes now, looking at Tenshu with pain and saying softly, almost inaudibly
'You can do it kid...j...just give it your best'
Tenshu took another deep breath and then narrowed his eyes, he would heal this namekian for the better of his village.
Putting both hands on the namekians chest, Tenshu began the process, at first it was slow, the green energy forming around his body, but then a sharp pain in Shun's chest. Shun let out a scream as tenshu stopped healing, he would end up killing the man before he could save his life. That is until he heard a voice....his father.
'you are going to have surpassed me so far, that you will even think about healing'
Tenshu wiped the blood from his face and put his hands back on the nameks chest, he was determined to overcome this obstacle, it was their hour of need, and tenshu would help, he would save the village.
Tenshu began the process, the green ki filtering through the wounds, Tenshu stayed focused watching the ki scramble from one wound to the next, the healing took several minutes, many of the namekians couldnt even see the recovery taking place, and before anything more could happen a large namekian burst through the tent, taring it to pieces, his fist was aimed at tenshu, and as if they had planned it, Shun leapt from the table he was seated on and kicked the other tribal in the face, throwing him into the mountain rock wall, Tenshu had healed him just enough for combat, and the other namekians watched as Shun began to repel the invaders.
After a long night of fighting the battle was over, many other namekians were sent to tenshu that evening, none as badly injured as Shun had been, however not tenshu could say with pride that he could heal.
When his father arrived and was briefed on what had taken place, his heart swelled with pride knowing that his son not only could heal with Ki, but had saved the village using his power.
Yes it just goes to show that some of the most talented Namekians were not fighters at all, and that not all trainings must be violent.
