Kris walked outside the lookout. He squinted his eyes slightly at the brightness of the sun, which was always shining because the clouds were below the the lookout. His footsteps made quiet clapping noises as he progressed across the large, circular platform.
He wasn't quite sure what training he wanted to do today, as he was feeling a bit discouraged... Ever since the events at Central City, Kris couldn't help but feel insignificant compared to his surroundings. After long and evenly matched battles, both Kami and Ba'alzamon had defeated Kris. No matter how powerful Kris would feel, it never showed any worthy results... Then Kris thought about Meishi. What monstrous power... How would Kris ever be able to match such a fiend?
Kris paced anxiously back and forth, trying to get his thoughts together. What was it? What allowed Kris' allies to defeat him so easily? Kris sat down and crossed his legs, reviewing his spars with Kami and Ba'. In both fights, the fighters were quite evenly matched. Kris was a bit weaker than Ba', but much more skilled. He was also much stronger than Kami, but didn't seem to posses the training necessary to defeat him either. What was it? There must have been something...
Kris then remembered. Both Kami and Ba'alzamon underwent some sort of transformation in their battles, somehow allowing them to draw out hidden powers that overwhelmed Kris. This didn't seem fair to Kris... Kris had trained his whole life, and for what? To be beaten in the blink of an eye by some strange power that he didn't posses?
Or did he...
Kris then remembered something his master, Sohen, told him many years ago during his basic training with Ki manipulation. "Every living being in existence possesses Ki energy. This energy is the life force that dwells within us. Souls, spirits, whatever you want to call them, it's all another word for Ki. Many people have learned how to draw out their Ki energy and use it as a weapon, others use it to fly... There is a little-known fact about Ki, however. Deep inside some people, past the pool of Ki that people hold in their bodies, there is another source of energy. Some people have been known to have a sort of "Second Pool' of Ki energy. This energy, however, lies dormant within the individual's body. It can grant unimaginable power to the person who learns to control it at a price. Without the Second Pool of Ki, the user's normal flow of Ki will be disrupted, and will literally drain away the user's life force. If used for extended periods of time, the results could be fatal..."
Kris thought for a moment. "If I could learn to release my inner Ki, I could gain incredible strength..." And so it was decided. Kris would attempt to find his inner Ki, so that he could have enough strength to finally defeat one of his friends in battle. The only problem: Kris had no idea how to find his inner Ki.
Kris thought of different methods of how to find his inner Ki, and finally settled on one idea: Kris would drain every ounce of his own Ki, then try and search for the Second Pool. Without his normal Ki getting in the way, it may be easier to find the inner supply. Kris rose to his feet and took a deep breath.
"... Ahhhhhhhhhh!!" Kris yelled out as he began raising his power level to it's maximum. A dark blue aura surrounded him as he pushed his energy to the extremes. Finally, he relaxed. He took a single deep breath, then began his process of getting rid of his Ki. He started with the Crasher Ball target practice he had done a few days ago. He charged up 5 Crasher Balls, which seemed to condense and concentrate energy in an orb before being fired high into the sky. After firing them, he would shoot smaller basic Ki blasts to hit and destroy the Crasher Balls. This process repeated for a few minutes before Kris decided to try something else. He could feel his Ki being strained, but it wasn't enough.
Kris then flew up over the lookout, hovering for a second before flying as fast as he could, away from the lookout platform. He roared through the open sky as he continued to glow a deep blue. He had another idea. He looked at the lookout and fired another Crasher Ball towards it so that it would fly over. As soon as he shot it, he flew at max speed, racing past his own Crasher Ball. Once he flew a distance, he waited for the orb to reach him.
Once the orb was within range, Kris focused Ki to his hand and punched the Crasher Ball, sending it back the way it came. He then raced past it again, this time having to go faster. He reached a certain distance, then turned around and deflected the ball again. He continued playing volleyball with himself until his Ki was almost gone. Once he felt himself struggling to continue, he decided to finish off the Ki that still remained in him. The Crasher Ball once again reached him. This time, instead of deflected it, Kris caught the ball in his hands. He struggled and yelled as he held the ball back, waiting until his strength was at it's limit before throwing the ball down to the ground below.
Kris felt that his energy was sufficiently drained, and headed back to the lookout. He slowly descended and landed on the platform, his knees buckling a bit as he did. He sat down with his legs crossed and closed his eyes. He took a few deep breaths, closed his eyes and prepared to meditate...
He delved into his own mind, thinking about everything that's happened lately. Meishi, Nam, Satin, Kyomi... The event at Central City is what was driving Kris to become a better fighter. He dove deeper into his mind... Kami, Kris' master. He looked up to Kami and had great respect for him. Ba'alzamon, Kris' best friend. Kris saw him as a rival, an ally, and an excellent sparring partner.
Deeper still, Kris would encounter memories of Sohen, his first martial arts instructor. Sohen was like a second father to Kris, and was always looking out for him. Kris faintly remembered the moment he first saw Sohen, a thought he didn't think about often. Kris was only a small child, lost and confused, without a purpose. Now, Kris had a purpose: Become a better warrior, and defend the people of earth.
Deeper... Deeper...
Kris remembered his father. He was a great man, and an amazing warrior. He gave his life to protect the family he loved. Kris' mother also came to mind. Such a compassionate woman. She always had a way of knowing what was best for Kris.
Kris' concentration was straining as his mind began to wander in his sea of memories, but Kris soon regained his focus and dove deeper still.
He sensed his own body, mind, and everything in between. All his past struggles, thoughts, feelings and hardships. It's hard to explain what Kris felt, as he had never actually been this deep in a meditative state. He concentrated harder...
He then felt what little Ki he had left. He sensed a faint glimmer of life force that seemed to radiate from inside his very soul. He had to go deeper, though. After struggling past the thin layer of energy, he sensed something different, something powerful... It felt as if there was a door, with light creeping out of the cracks around it. He sensed a huge amount of energy coming from this door that dwelled within him. He reached further inside, attempting to open the door...
He felt a rush of incredible power, then snapped out of his focused thinking. He was back in the outside world again, looking around at the lookout he was sitting on. He noticed cracks in the tiles beneath him... Did he do that? What kind of power had he just released? He looked at his hands. He felt as if a strange energy still lingered at his fingertips, suggesting that Kris really had found his inner Ki... Either way, Kris was exhausted, and had used up any Ki he possibly had left. He decided to go and rest, and try some more tomorrow...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day arrived and Kris was ready to try and access his inner Ki once more. This time, he decided to go right to the meditation process. Perhaps the reason Kris couldn't sustain the inner Ki was because his energy supply was a it's lowest. He sat down again and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to relax his mind...
He dove past the many thoughts and memories, ignoring them as he searched deeper, attempting to relocate the Second Pool of Ki. Once he had reached his Ki supply, he realized how difficult it would be to dive through it. He concentrated as hard as he could, clearing his mind and drowning out all distractions as he pushed through the barrier of Ki energy. Slowly but surely, he reached the very core of his being, and found the resting place of the intense power he felt the day before.
He felt the door to his inner Ki. It was even more intense than yesterday. He could feel large quantities of power emanating from within. He slowly reached for it, attempting to unlock the mysterious energy...
Kris, after finally opening the door, sensed something for a split-second... He felt his entire being pulsating with energy.
"...GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!" Kris screamed as he exploded with power, a deep purple aura bursting forth from every part of his body. The ground cracked and rumbled as small rocks floated upwards from the incredible power that was now coursing through Kris' veins. Kris fought hard to suppress his energy, trying to control it and keep it inside him. He sat there for about 10 seconds, which to him seemed like 10 minutes, yelling and straining as he tried to condense the energy inside his body.
Finally, Kris let out one final roar of power as his transformation was complete. He took deep breaths and stood up...
Kris' blue aura was replaced with one of a dark violet tone. His eyes glowed white and his pupils seemed to disappear. Small sparks of electricity also crackled from his body. He looked around and got a feel for his new power. It was incredible! His body felt light as a feather, and nearly 3 times as strong as it was before! He grinned and slowly raised his hand towards the sky. He then fired a massive blast of energy straight up, testing his new limits. A grin spread across his face as he saw the true destructive power he held in his hands. He started dashing back and forth along the lookout, throwing punches and kicks wildly, trying out his new abilities. He loves every second he spent with this strength.
After about a minute, however, he felt his body wearing out. His energy had been depleted substantially, so he decided to try and power down. He closed his eyes and concentrated again. It didn't take long for him to find the gateway to his power. It was only a matter of straining for a second to close it. His aura vanished and his eyes returned to the way they were. As soon as his transformation was complete, he fell onto one knee, his body worn out from the massive amounts of energy he had used.
He chuckled to himself. It felt good knowing he now had a trick up his sleeve, an ace in the hole. He would keep this power a secret from Ba'alzamon. Kami would most likely sense something new about Kris, but Ba' would be in for a nice surprise next time they sparred...
((PL please. Kris learned how to use Ki Release, a 3x transformation similar to Kaio-Ken.))
