Kris looked over the edge of the lookout. He had become quite fond of this place. It was comfortable, peaceful, private, and was home to his master, Kami. Kris had just asked Kami for permission to leave the lookout, and was pleased to hear a "yes". It's been a while since Kris had a relaxing day on his own. After all, he had been training his body to it's limits for the past week or so.
Kris jumped off the edge of the lookout casually, falling about 30 feet before using Bukujutsu to propel himself downwards. A white aura glowed around him as he descended quickly. Once he neared the ground, he angled himself to fly parallel to it, remaining at an altitude of around 100 feet. Flying was a bit tougher than usual, as Kris was wearing the set of weighted clothing Kami had given him for his birthday. Kris just turned 17 the day before, and had a small celebration with is friends at the lookout.
Kris continued to fly, the lookout's tower fading from view behind him. Kris decided he would fly to West City for a day off of training. He smiled to himself. It's been a long time since he had gone into a city for fun. He powered up a little bit, flying faster than before.
Eventually, the tall buildings of West City entered Kris' vision as he approached the prosperous city. West City was home to many large businesses, including Capsule Corp., one of the biggest companies in the world. Kris flew down and landed behind one of the buildings by the edge of town. He thought it would be best to proceed on foot, as to not intimidate the citizens of West City. He walked out onto the sidewalk leisurely, gazing around at the numerous buildings that surrounded him. He didn't know what he wanted to do once he got here, he only a day off from his rigorous training schedule.
After about 20 minutes of walking, Kris started to feel hungry. Kris grinned as he saw a small, quaint-looking restaurant. There was steam rising out of the windows on the side of the building, and the intoxicating aroma of fish and ramen seeping out of the front door. Kris caught himself drooling a bit as he walked towards the building, seemingly mesmerized by the thought of the food. He snapped out of it, however, when he realized he had no money...
Kris sighed and walked past the restaurant, discouraged at the fact that he couldn't get a good meal. Kami provided plenty of food at the lookout, but it usually didn't have much variety. Kris wanted something new to satisfy his taste buds. He kept walking through the city, curiously examining the buildings he passed. He then heard something interesting... "Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" It sounded like many people yelling repeatedly. Kris took a moment to sense the power levels of the people making the strange noise. Sure enough, the energy signals were much higher than average humans. Kris followed the energy to it's source, arriving at a small martial arts dojo.
Kris casually walked in, curiously observing the numerous certificates, pictures, posters and weapons that lined the walls of the dojo. He saw the source of the sound as well. About 20 people of varying ages were punching the air, yelling with each punch. Kris must have intruded on their class, and decided to leave them be. "You there, young man!" said a voice behind Kris. Kris turned to face the source of the voice, a tall man that had the highest power level of anyone in the room. "Y-yes sir?" Kris responded. "What's a young man doing in a place like this? Are you interested in taking some classes?" the man asked. Kris was a bit nervous, as he was MUCH stronger than everyone in the dojo. After a brief moment of silence, Kris replied "U-um, no, sir. Thank you anyways." Kris continued to walk towards the door, when the man suddenly put his hand on Kris' shoulder. "Nonsense, boy! What man of your age wouldn't be interested in martial arts? Come on, I'll even give you a free trial class!"
The man pulled Kris back to the other students somewhat roughly. He pulled Kris to a heavy punching bag and positioned him in a basic fighting stance. "Now, I'm going to show you how to punch properly! First, you always wanna keep your fists up to guard your face." Kris sighed as he was being uselessly lectured by the martial arts instructor. "Now. Pivot your body counter-clockwise and extend your right arm to punch the bag! Go ahead, try it!" Kris looked at the punching bag for a moment. He didn't want to intimidate the other martial artists by using his full force, so he decided to hold back.
Kris threw a weak punch, purposely looking clumsy as to make the instructor think he was inexperienced. "That was pretty good! Now, try again. This time, keep your arm muscles tense, it'll make your punch stronger!" Kris did as the man asked and punched again, slightly more powerful this time. "Hmmm, I know what your problem is... You're holding back! Come on, kid, I know you have it in you! Punch that thing as hard as you can!" Kris was getting a bit irritated at this point. He rolled his eyes and punched the bag with about half of his strength. The result was the bag flying off it's chain and crashing into the wall behind it, making a rather large hole. The bag was torn and leaked sand as Kris exhaled slowly, relaxing his arm.
Everyone in the dojo stared with their jaws dropped. Kris looked back at them and realized what he had just done. "Erm..." Kris stuttered, before the instructor interrupted him. "Haha, I guess the bag was just getting old! Beginner's luck, I guess! Anyways, it looks like you actually have a bit of experience!" Kris tried to hide how annoyed he was. "Now, how about some sparring?" Kris liked the sound of that. The instructor lead Kris over to a student who was wearing a green belt. "This is Stan. How about going against him in a one on one?" Kris nodded promptly, then bowed to the young man. Stan bowed back as the other students backed away from the two competitors.
"Begin!" Exclaimed the instructor. Stan quickly lunged at Kris and let loose a wild barrage of punches. Some of the other students cheered for him as he attacked Kris. Kris, however, simply used a single hand to block every punch that was thrown. The entire dojo was stunned. Kris' hand was moving at incredible speed and precision, catching every one of Stan's punches. Kris wasn't impressed, he fought harder than this on a daily basis. Stan continued punching, growling angrily at Kris as he started to wear out. Kris sighed as the punches continued to be blocked. At least this was offering a bit of a workout because of his weighted wristbands.
Eventually, Kris got tired of waiting. After one of Stan's punches, Kris shifted forward and placed his hand on Stan's chest. He used a very weak Kiaiho Sutoraiki, sending Stan reeling back about 10 feet before colliding with the wall behind him. Kris bowed deeply, then looked around. Everyone in the dojo was speechless. Kris pointed at the instructor with a curious look on his face. "Can I fight you next, sir?" Kris asked. The instructor looked around nervously, then replied "Erm... Uh, ok, if you think you can handle me!" The instructor shooed away some students, then bowed at Kris. Kris bowed back, then entered his signature fighting stance, his legs wide apart and his arms stretched further than most fighting stances. "Begin!"
Kris lunged at the man, ready to start off strong. He threw a few average punches at the man's head. The man's reaction speed was surprisingly fast, and managed to side-step Kris' attacks and follow up with a kick to the side. Kris blocked it and came back with a punch to the instructor's stomach. The instructor gasped a bit, but managed to recover and jump backwards. Kris remained un-phased, but the instructor was definitely suffering from that punch. The weighted clothing certainly handicapped Kris enough to give him a workout, but not enough to give the instructor a fighting chance. The instructor charged Kris, starting off with a straight punch, leading into a back-spinning kick. Kris side-stepped and deflected the punch, but was caught off guard by the kick, which hit him in the side of the head. It was strong enough to knock Kris off balance, but not cause any injury.
Kris recovered and delivered a firm right hook to the man's head, disorienting him and knocking him over. "S-stop! I give up!" Kris stopped himself from continuing with another punch to the man, who was now on the floor. Kris stood back up and bowed. "Kid... You've got some talent. I'm sure this dojo wouldn't offer any benefit to a fighter of your calibur. the man said as he got up and brushed himself off. "We would be honored if you came back to visit us sometime!" Kris grinned and scratched his head. "Hehe, sure!" The instructor then put his hand out, inviting Kris to shake it. Kris gladly accepted and shook hands with the man. "Now, as per my policy, since you defeated me, I'm gonna do you a favor! Is there anything you need right now?" the man asked kindly. Kris thought for a moment. "No sir, there's nothing I... Well actually, there is one thing." Kris' stomach grumbled as he thought about the small restaurant from across the street. "Haha, you need something to eat? Well, where do you have in mind?" Kris' face lit up. "That little restaurant down the street? he asked. Kris seemed quite excited compared to his normal quiet demeanor. "Oh, you mean 'Ted and Tilly's Fish Hut'? No problem!" the man said gladly. Kris practically sprinted out the door, eager to get something to eat.
Within a few minutes, Kris was already devouring bowl after bowl of ramen, and eating numerous "Fish-Kabobs". It seems his Saiyan appetite was taking over, and caused him to make quite a commotion among the other people in the restaurant. "My, you're uh... Quite the eater, huh?" Kris stopped and stared at the man, a noodle still hanging out of his mouth. He slurped it up before saying "Oh, um. Sorry about that. Where I'm from, the people eat a lot of food. I'm full though, thanks for the meal." Kris clapped his hands in front of his face and bowed to the instructor, as was customary to do after a meal. "Haha, no problem, kid! I hope you come back to visit us sometime!" the man said as he paid the rather expensive bill. Kris nodded, then walked out of the building. The man followed him out and said "Well, I guess I'll see you later!" Kris nodded, then released a white aura as he took to the sky and flew off. The man was quite shocked, as were many other people on the street.
As Kris flew over the city and started his way back to the lookout, he realized that he caused quite a scene by flying off like that. Kris shrugged, then continued flying at high speeds, his stomach contently full.
