Ryota growled in frustration as he tossed yet another book that he had mistaken for the book he was looking for across the room hitting a wall and utterly destroying the poor book. "Where the hell is it" he growled to himself earning a chuckle from Keyra who was watching him from the safety of his doorway. "You know this could be going a lot easier if you'd actually HELP." He said directing a glare at her causing Keyra to raise her hands in mock defense. "Yeah, that's going to happen, I'm not moving from here until I know that I wont be in the line of fire." Keyra said with a grin causing Ryota to intensify his glare. "You know I COULD just start aiming for the doorway right?" He said "You wouldn't" Keyra said giving Ryota a challenging grin to which Ryota responded by pulling a random book off of his shelf and 'lightly' chucking it at her.
Luckily for Keyra she'd spotted Ryota reaching for the book and just barely managed to catch it. "Ack, what the hell. Now I'm really not going to help you." She said giving Ryota a not-to-serious glare before opening the book that he'd thrown at her intending to pretend to read it for a bit before actually heading off to help with the search. "I get no respect..." Ryota mumbled with a sigh and just as he began scanning the titles of the books once again his attention was diverted by a laugh from Keyra. "What now?" He asked not entirely sure what he'd done to amuse her this time. "I found the book." She said giving Ryota a grin as she displayed that the book that Ryota had thrown at her had in fact been the book he'd been looking for.
Ryota's jaw dropped as Keyra held up the book, it was most definitely "Captain's" old journal. Ryota couldn't help but face palm at the fact that of all the books that he could have thrown he just HAD to have thrown that. He was lucky Keyra had caught it as even with the light toss the old tome could have easily gone flying off never to be seen again. "Great now I can get to work." Ryota said as all of the frustration seemed to instantly disperse. "Why do you need this thing any way?" Keyra asked as she gently tossed it to Ryota. "It's got a bit of information on a technique I'm hoping to sort of 'recreate'" Ryota said while catching the tome and then slipping out of his quarters with a wave to Keyra to follow.
"Back when I first joined and the Captain first saw my rift technique it reminded him of a much older technique he'd seen before called the 'Wargate' it was apparently a bit like my rift technique but rather than just being a rift between two points it was something that could both be used to cross planes and allowed for the transport of entire armies which is where it got it's name from. I'm hoping to use what few notes he had on the technique to try and replicate it so that we can actually have a way back to the Demon Realm. I like the Mortal Realm and all but my plans begin at 'home'." Ryota said with a bit of a smirk. Keyra raised an eyebrow at the comment and the resulting smirk, as one of the few who that happened to be aware of the implications of the statement.
"You think your strong enough to take him on?" She asked, she didn't have much doubt that Ryota could pull off this 'Wargate' as anyone who fought Ryota enough knew that rift based techniques were nothing to him. However what Ryota planned to do once they returned to the Demon Realm had her a bit worried. "I... Yeah, I am. Hes strong but from what I know he stopped training once he become took over and while he was tough before then and has only gotten tougher because of the fights he'd gotten in for those few who have challenged him and failed I think I can pull it off. I don't think he'll expect it... But that's not important right now what's IS important is getting this done, I'll probably need to whip up a few other techniques too before we head out if for no other reason than to give myself a bit more to work with considering he'll have the advantage of experience and the guard." Ryota said as they finally arrived in the training room.
"Alright, I'm going to head up top and do some work on the ship. Good luck." She said giving Ryota a grin before departing. Ryota frowned a bit as she headed off as he'd been hoping to have Keyra's around for both the company and because she was pretty good at pointing out where he was screwing up. With a shrug Ryota headed in closing the door behind him. Once inside Ryota set the tome up on top of one of the training dummy's arms. Quickly flipping through the journal Ryota found the section that had the information on the Wargate.
According to the captain's notes when he compared what he knew of the technique to Ryota's rift technique it was simply a matter of having A LOT more power focused into the technique which normally would be quite easy however the power required was not JUST pure Ki, he'd need to focus a bit of his latent 'magic' for lack of a better term. In addition to that the technique required significantly more focus on the 'where' as opening and keeping open a rift to another plan required a significant level of concentration.
"This is going to suck..." Ryota said with a groan, thankfully he had a bit of an edge of perhaps any other warrior trying to learn this particular technique due to his experience with this sort of technique. As a test Ryota took a few swings with his sword pumping as much power into the rifts as he could, the result was as expected NOT a rift to the demon realm but rather varying degrees of larger or more quickly created rifts. Nodding as he confirmed that it 'wouldn't be that easy' Ryota took a few deep breaths and focused in on his 'demonic magic' bringing as much as he could to the forefront Ryota let out a breath as he tried to equalize that level with how much raw Ki he was putting into the blade.
Once he was reasonably certain that he'd gotten the levels high enough and equal enough Ryota took a swing, this time the result was a normal sized rift that seemed to open into nothing. Ryota looked at the rift with utter confusion, it wasn't that he'd neglected to make another side... it was that he'd just that wherever the other side had been placed there was... nothing. It wasn't even open space as the air in the room wasn't being pulled out. Ryota just stared at the anomaly in utter confusion not daring to actually put any part of himself into the portal.
"What the hell..." Ryota said before realizing his error, he'd been so focused on the concentration needed to level out the power behind the technique he'd forgotten what was supposed to be a crucial part of the technique. The 'where' which meant his rift lead to 'nowhere' Ryota just stared at the empty rift further confused by the result. "Huh... yeah this is probably the sort of thing that he was afraid I'd do. Captain always said I'd end up 'breaking the universe' ." Ryota said with a chuckle as he closed the rift so as to avoid the temptation of seeing what would happen if he entered 'nowhere' "I might need to check that out some time, at the very least it might be even a good place to throw difficult enemies." Ryota said as ea truly diabolical grin spread across his face. In all likelihood the fact that Ryota was in fact one step closer to 'breaking the universe' would send a chill down the spine of every sentient being in this or any plane.
Returning his focus to the task at hand Ryota once again begins the process of bringing forth as much of his two reserves of power as he can then equalizing them as best as he could considering the difficulty in truly controlling Ki and/or Magic this time however Ryota made sure to to divert as much of his concentration to picturing one of the places in the Demon Realm that he knew the best, the bar that he and the crew frequented, it was easy enough to imagine it in great detail which he hoped would be good enough as it was quite tough to split his concentration as much as it currently was. Once he felt confident Ryota took a swing with his blade opening a rift.
Unlike his last attempt this one caused a noticeable change, a wave of heat rolled into the room from the other side of the rift causing Ryota to smirk as that was pretty close to the confirmation he needed. Looking through the rift Ryota saw what was the closest thing that the demon realm likely had to a real 'port town' and not five feet from his rift stood the doorway to the bar. Grinning to himself Ryota stepped through the rift as a test, thankfully once on the other side the rift did to close which meant he'd done it, he'd gotten the Wargate down. Sure he'd need a bit more practice in order to get the power levels right in order to make a rift large enough for the galleon but right now he was happy just to have this.
[Thread Complete, PL Plox, Techinque is "The Wargate" The Wargate is effectively an upgrade to Ryota's normal rift technique which allows him to create rifts to and from the Demon Realm, it has little actual battle applications other than simply stranding an opponent in a likely unknown and hostile territory but otherwise it is simply a means of transport. Given enough time Ryota can create a rift large enough for the Demon Galleon to fly through. In order to use this properly he does however need to open the rift in the Demon Realm's equivalent to 'space' and thus it will take just as long to get the Demon Galleon from the Mortal Realm to the Demon Realm as it would to normally fly a ship form one planet to another. Transport of individuals however is instantanious.]
