"Well it's a good thing you at least remembered your name!" He smiled and let out a laugh, then bit his lip to stop himself. He coughed into his hand and then laughed at the fact that he tried to cough to cover it up, as he clearly had no lungs. He hoped he wasn't being rude.
"I know what it's like to not know who you are. A while back I was having memories that I thought weren't mine, then I found out my creator had being using me to do his evil deeds and then erased my memory of it." He shrugged and let out a deep sigh as if the memories were replaying in his head. Turns out he had more in common with the young lady then he had thought. He reached across the table and patted her on the shoulder.
"Hopefully it'll come back someday. Until then, well you'll just have to make new ones, right? I guess this kinda gives you a blank slate, you can be whomever you want to be right? So you should strive to be the best person you can be." He smiled. He had hoped to learn more about her, and by her answer he had learned they were more alike then he had thought, even though she didn't know herself.

That was not the reaction Eona was expecting, but it was one she was grateful for. She visibly relaxed, her easy smile coming back once more. It was a curious, sad story that he told. As he reached over to pat her shoulder, she took his hand, squeezing softly, a kind smile on her face. She let go, taking the last bite of her tart. Mia truly was a great cook!
"I suppose that is one way of looking at it. I've gone back to the place Jorlaxl found me millions of times, but I haven't found anything. No clue as to how I got here, who I was, anything..." she said softly. She reached up, brushing a strand of her short teal hair behind her ear.
"Thank you Drexx... For saving me, for this, and for understanding," she said softly, looking up at him again. Reaching over, she took one of the sugar cookies, taking a bite.
"So how do you know Mrs. Mia? I'm guessing you don't often come here to eat," she said with a soft laugh.

Drexx had not expected Eona to take his hand in hers, but was very pleased nonetheless. She had warm soft hands, the hands of a healer not a fighter. His smile was wider than he could remember it ever being, This was truly the start of a wonderful friendship.
"If there's anything I can ever do to help with recovering your memory, please call upon me and i'll do whatever it takes." He said the statement with strong conviction, subtly letting her know that she could always call on him as a friend.
"Mia and her husband Dale were out late one night after grocery shopping. It was dark and stormy and somehow they got turned around and wound up in a very bad part of the city, one where people who aren't looking for trouble should never go. It was chance that I was flying by when I saw the fire of their car. Bandits had ripped the elderly couple out of their seats and had set the whole thing ablaze, an insurance policy that the two would be unable to escape."
Mia walked over and sat down next to them as Drexx wove the tale. She looked much older, as if the tale brought back sad memories. Drexx noticed this and began to stop, but Mia motioned for him to continue.
"The leader was a tall broad human by the name of Axle, who had been causing trouble for locals displaced by the destruction of Central City for a while, bullying people into paying him protection money, harming those that didn't. He had told Mia and Dale to pay protection money a while ago, but the two are very stubborn."
Mia let out a laugh. "That's putting it mildly sweetheart" Drexx nodded in agreement.
"I landed to see what the trouble was, Axle told me it wasn't any concern of mine and told me to piss off. He... He had already broken both of Dale's legs..." Mia bit her lip, but it was clear tears were forming in the elderly woman's eyes.
"I can stop the story if you like Mia. I don't mean to cause you any discomfort."
"No that's alright deary, the past hurts but we can't change it. Continue."
"I told Axle to stop, or things would become very bad for him and his group. He found that humorous and threw a wrench at me with all his might while I was checking on Dale, while he thought I wasn't looking. It wasn't so humorous when I caught it and threw it back, shattering his nose and jaw. I quickly dispatched the rest of the men and we hurriedly brought Dale to the hospital. He's still recovering now, which explains his absence. The rest as they say is history."
"We owe Drexx our lives. We were unable to conceive children... not for lack of trying mind you." she added the last part with a wink. "And so we both like to think of Drexx as our adopted child." She beamed down at him and tussled his hair lovingly, as if he were a small child. She excused her self saying she had to check on Dale and walked into the back room.
"My main directive is to protect, and I can't think of anything more rewarding to be doing with my life. I get to meet and help amazing people, like Mia and Dale..." He looked into her eyes and smiled. "And you."

"Thank you," she said again. As Drexx began to tell his story, her stomach twisted into knots. It was definitely not a happy one like she had imagined. As Eona sat there, listening to the story of Mia and her husbands troubles, of Drexx's act of extreme kindness, she couldn't help the tears that formed at the edge of her eyes. Her hands balled into fists, shaking lightly. When she had awoken, everything had seemed so peaceful, so bright. Eona hadn't known anything but the school for a long time, spending her days slowly recovering and getting back to whatever sense of normal she could. She had heard about how aliens had to register. Saw the horrors on the new. Heard the whispers of discontent with the new Prime Minister.
But never, not even in her darkest dreams (and they were quite dark), did she imagine humans doing this to one another. And for such reasons like lust and greed! To hurt innocent, good people like Mia and her husband for no reason. And in such extreme ways! If it hadn't been for Drexx, they might have... They might have not survived. As Mia spoke of them not being able to have a child, then looking so fondly at Drexx, Eona made up her mind. She didn't want to just sit around while people like this were being hurt. She wanted to help protect them, like Drexx did. Her eyes went to her hands, the very hands that had healed Drexx's bruise. She wondered, if she could do that, could she heal again Could she draw upon that power and use it for people like Dale?
"My main directive is to protect, and I can't think of anything more rewarding to be doing with my life. I get to meet and help amazing people, like Mia and Dale... And you."
Eona stood, lifting her head. Her smile was gone, her mouth set in a determined line. Her silver eyes that had moments before been lined with tears showed a fierce determination, a fire inside of her. Her hands were balled into fists as she stepped toward Drexx.
"I want to help to. Please. If I could heal you then maybe...maybe I could help Mr. Dale too!"

The determination in Eona's eyes surprised Drexx. Her hands were balled into tight fists, shaking with the rage that Drexx had felt in the situation. He knew that look, knew it well. It was the look of one who was fed up with injustice. It was the look of a protector.
"I want to help to. Please. If I could heal you then maybe...maybe I could help Mr. Dale too!" Drexx smiled and stood up, moving aside his chair. He nodded and led her into the back room. Mia was sitting down next to Dale, her head rested upon his chest. Both were sleeping peacefully.
"I'll be right back" Drexx whispered and made his way back into the main room of the shop. He flipped over the open/closed sign. The sun was setting outside and the lights were coming on in the city around them. He returned to the back room and stood by the elderly couple. He gently shook Mia awake and she fixed her hair and looked flustered.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep." Drexx shrugged and told her not to worry about it. "I was just telling Dale about the lovely girl you brought home Drexx. I was telling him about the magical healing powers you possessed."
"That's why we came back here Mia, Eona wants to try and see if her powers can heal Dale's legs."
The look on Mia's face was so full of hope that Drexx worried what would happen to the old woman's heart if it didn't work. One look at the fire in Eona's eyes steeled his resolve. He nodded. They would try.

The heart was pounding a mile a minute, so loud it seemed like she could barely hear the others. Her hands were clenched in front of her, her gaze steady. But she was terrified.
What if it didn't work? What if it wasn't her that did it before, but someone Drexx? And what if it was a one time a day thing and she couldn't do it again? Or what if it was just a fluke?! There were too many what ifs, too many things she didn't understand. The look on Mia's face... So full of hope. What if Eona couldn't really do it? What if she failed? Mia...Dale... they would have gone through all of this for nothing. Could she really take that chance, just to have them crushed? Eona's eyes turned to Dale and she knew that she had to do this.
Eona stepped forward, kneeling beside his legs. Gently, she reached out, placing her fingertips on both. Closing her eyes, she waited for the warmth to spread through her, waited for the glow to leave her body and fill Dale's. She sat there, eyes squeezed shut, and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
A minute at least had gone by and nothing, not even a flicker. No...please...please let me help him. Please...let me find that power again. Eona opened her eyes and her breath caught in her throat. Everything had fallen away. Mia, Drexx, and Dale seemed to me no more than shadowy silhouettes of themselves. Lines of brightly colored energy ran through each of them, racing in a ever-brightening motion. She turned back to Dale, only for her eyes to widen. The lines in his legs were slower, an inky blackness seeping into them. No! Eona pushed and as she did so, the tattoos on her back began to glow faintly with the silvery-blue light, shining through her shirt. A warmth spread through her, moving up each of her arms and finally, leaving her finger tips in a silvery-blue glow. She watched as the blackness began to recede, the color flowing back into his legs. She pushed harder and harder, the lines moving faster and faster. One more push, and they were clear. The warmth left her, her back and hands stopped glowing. Blinking softly, she pulled back, her vision returning to normal.
Eona stood, stumbling back as step as she did so. Her head felt a little woozy and her stomach felt like everything she had eaten was about to come up.
"How do you feel?" she asked softly, giving them a shaky smile. She took a step back and as she did so, the world went dark.

Drexx marveled as Eona's face scrunched up with focus and effort. For a while nothing happened and Drexx was beginning to get worried. He looked over at Mia, whose hand never left Dale's. Dale was staring expectantly down at his legs. The doctors told him he would never walk again. If this worked... Well that truly would be a miracle.
The silvery-blue light returned, but this time Drexx noticed Eona's back light up with the same light. The glowing off of Eona was faint at first but intensified as the event went on. After a while Eona pulled her hands away from Dale and stood up, but stumbled a little. Drexx immediately could tell that something was off.
"How do you feel?" She said softly, almost too soft for the others to hear. She gave them a shaky smile and took a step-backwards, and suddenly she was falling. Drexx sped over and caught her, cradling her in his arms with ease. Mia and Dale both looked worried, Dale got out of the bed quickly and went to check on her. Mia nearly fainted as well.
"Dale! You're walking!" Her hands flew to her mouth as tears sprung to her eyes. She began weeping tears of joy, the moment too much for her to handle.
"Not now Mia! The dang girl damn near killed herself healing me! Drexx my boy for the love of the gods put her on the bed" Dale's thick Scottish accent enough to command anyone. Drexx laid Eona softly on the bed and Mia got him a seat so he could sit next to her. He checked her pulse to make sure she was still alive, it was fainter then he would like, but it was still there. He took her hand in his and held it tightly, willing her to not go, to not let go.
"I'll go get her some food and tea for when she wakes up" Mia said, but Dale quickly made his way out of the room first.
"Na you don't woman, I just regained the ability to walk! I'm doing all the walking for both of us for the next few weeks!" Mia laughed and followed him out of the room a smile plastered on her face. The only thing on Drexx's face was a look of concern.
"Eona, I'd like it very much if you would wake up now..." He held her hand with one hand and brushed the hair out of her face with the other.

Everything was hot, so very hot. It felt like she was on fire. Wait... what was going on? Flashes of faces flew across her vision. They were distorted, melted, grinning. She tried to scream, but nothing came out. A face stayed with her, eyes as red as the fire that burned all around her. It consumed her, devouring her. She couldn't escape, couldn't move.
Eona...
"...wake up right now...."
Silver eyes blinked open, black lashes even darker against her ashen face. The room blurred, Drexx's face coming into view. She was laying on a bed, the bed Dale had been leaning on. But dale, and Mia, where were they? Did something happen? Did it not work. Eona turned her head toward him, brows furrowed.
"Did....did it work?" she asked softly. Her voice was dry and scratchy like she hadn't had a drop of water in years. She swallowed, closing her eyes. Her head was pounding and her stomach felt like it was twisting around inside of her. Taking a deep breath of air, she opened her eyes again, letting the room and Drexx's worried face come fully into view. She smiled softly, slipping her hand from his to gently pinch his cheek.
"Don't make that face...I'm fine. Just a little tired," she said.

Drexx was overjoyed when Eona woke up. The color had drained from her but it very slowly began to return. Her silver eyes blinked open and at first it looked like she didn't know where she was. She looked confused, as if she didn't know what was going on.
"Did...Did it work?" She said, her voice raspy and dry. Drexx nodded but wasn't sure she saw, her eyes still out of focus. She took a deep breath and looked at him again her eyes more focused this time, more aware. Drexx looked back still very much concerned. Her smile calmed him a bit, and he felt her hand slip from his and then gently pinch his cheek, which completely removed his worry.
"Don't make that face...I'm fine. Just a little tired," she said.
"You scared me. You stood up and then fainted. Your pulse got very faint and I didn't know what was going on." He didn't want to tell her how much he panicked, how much he was afraid that he would lose her. Her life for Dale's legs was not a trade he would be willing to make.
Mia and Dale walked into the room both of them beaming. Dale carried a tray of bread, soup and a large glass of water. He set it down on the bed-side table and took Eona's face in his hands kissing both of her cheeks.
"You are my savior lass. I can't thank ye enough. When... When the doctors told me I'd never walk again... Mia and I didn't know how we were going to make it. There was just no way she'd be able to run the business herself and we knew we couldn't keep Drexx here all the time with us, he's got more important things to be doing then working for two elderly people. Ye've done me a favor I can never repay, but if there's anything. Anything at all that I can ever do for ye ye have but to name it."
He handed her the glass of water. "Drink lass, I can't imagine your throat feels too good after fainting."
Drexx turned and smiled at Eona, She had performed a miracle and saved the old couple, saved them like Drexx had saved them.

As the couple returned to the room, Eona placed her hand back on the bed, slowly sitting up. She was so relieved to see him walking, to know it worked. It was worth this exhausted state she was in. And it was worth that strange dream. She flushed as Dale kissed her on the cheeks, the color fully returning to her face at that. As the smell of the soup and bread hit her, her stomach turned over, she swallowed, taking a couple of deep breaths.
"I..." she started, her voice faint and scratchy. With a smile of thanks, she took the water and sipped it before trying again.
"I...I'm just glad you're alright," she said, voice still a bit weak. Carefully, she sat up all the wall, back leaning against the wall. She still felt strange, like when waking up after sleeping for far too long. But feeling was slowly starting to return to her body, her strength coming back to her. She closed her eyes, sipping the water quietly. The pounding her her head had left her, though her stomach had yet to fully settle down. She took a few more breaths before opening her eyes, the room finally back to normal. She smiled at Dale.
"Is there any pain left? Any soreness?" she asked, worried. She didn't know exactly how much she had taken away. If she had just removed the injury, but left the pain. Or removed the pain and left the injury. She hoped she had taken both, but this power was new to her. She still didn't know how it worked.

"Listen to the lass, nearly kills herself and is worried about how I'm doing. I'm fine deary, better than fine in fact. Ye've given me a gift better than I could have ever asked, In fact I feel like I could run a bloody marathon. Though I won't cause I'm still old as all get out." He laughed and took her empty glass from her, leaving to go refill it. Mia leaned over and kissed Eona on the forehead.
"I don't know how to thank you my dear. You're just as much a miracle as Drexx was that first day. My life has been made better simply by having you in it. As long as my husband and I are still alive, you've got a place you can always come to, and someone who will always be happy to see you." her eyes filled with tears and she also excused herself from the room, rushing after Dale to make sure he used the water filter. Drexx laughed as he watched them go, the two of them busy like bees.
"How are you feeling? That's an incredible thing you can do. For now I wouldn't take it too much father than healing cuts and scrapes, healing something as big as two broken-beyond-repair legs seemed to have taken quite a bit out of you."
He reached up and felt her forehead but she didn't seem feverish.
"Those are some very interesting tattoos you have. I've never seen anything quite like them. Were you aware they light up when you use your healing abilities? They glow with the same color light as your hands. I think you're something quite special Eona, and I don't think you or I even know the half of it."
Dale returned with a fresh cup of water and handed it to Eona.
"Feel free to spend the night, both of you. In fact I insist on it. It's getting dark out there and Satan City can be a very dangerous place for those that choose to go out at night. Eona honey ye can sleep down here, Drexx... well ye don't need to sleep so do whatever it is ye do here, but no leaving. Either of ye. We've all had a long day. I for one am gonna go run on the treadmill." He laughed and said goodnight to everyone and made his way out of the room. Mia kissed them both on the forehead and left the room as well.

Eona flushed once again, too embarrised to respond to Mia and Dale's words. They were being far too kind. She had simply done what any in her situation would, she was sure of it. She smiled softly as Drexx felt her forehead.
"I'm okay, really. I just need a goodnight's sleep," she told him. It was true. Her stomach had settled and she didn't feel as weak anymore. She just needed some sleep. That would do her good.
"I wasn't, actually. The time in the alleyway was the first I ever used this. Well...the first time I remember at least," she said with a small shrug. Maybe she was special, maybe she wasn't. After all, if she truly was an alien, maybe everyone on her planet could do this. Maybe there, she'd just be an average girl. Or even below average. She greatfully took the water as they returned, taking a couple more sips. Her throat felt much better, though she was quite thirsty. She was just about to get up as they mentioned the two of them staying there. She was about to object, not wanting to be a bother, but they left. With a sigh, she leaned back against the wallonce more.
"I hope Jorlaxl isn't worried. This is the first time I've left the school ground," she said, a little embarrissed. But what a day it had been. Satin City truly had been an astonishing place. And even though she had encountered danger, she had met Drexx and was saved. She even learned a new power! Or relerned as the case may be.

"I don't think he's going to be too worried, but I'll call the school just to let everyone know everything is okay." He could tell she was worried about what Jorlaxl would think so he knew that calling the school would calm her nerves. She had had a rough enough day and Drexx knew that something worrying you could make it hard to sleep, or so he'd been told. He tapped his right temple and used his internal microphone to call the school, he informed them of what was going on and told them not to worry. They were both safe and would make their way back to the school in the morning. When he hung up and turned back towards Eona.
"There, all set." He smiled and sat down on the chair next to the bed and kicked his feet up on the bed-side table. Mia would kill him if she knew he was doing that, but he was comfortable and she wasn't there so his feet remained.
"I think you could use that good nights sleep now. I'm sure you'll feel back to one hundred percent in the morning. I know I will. Not that I sleep or anything..." He stood up and began to leave the room turning back to face her when he reached the door.
"Goodnight Eona, I'm so very glad I met you today. Call me if you need anything" He gave her his best parting smile and walked into the bakery part, sitting down again at the table where his bags were. He would have to feed the homeless and hungry tomorrow, he had more important things to deal with that day.
He shut his eyes and began to defrag his hard-drive, something he liked to do every night in place of sleeping. He found he could almost pretend to be asleep in this way, and even get glimpses of dreams. In the morning he knew Mia would wake Eona up with breakfast, something he was sure she would enjoy. Mia was a renowned baker after all. He hoped Eona was all right, she had muttered something in her unconscious state that concerned him, but Drexx didn't feel right bringing it up. Why had she been dreaming of fire? He shook his head and cleared the thoughts away. If she felt like talking about it she would, if not... well it wasn't his place to pry. He just hoped she was okay.

She closed her eyes once more as Drexx called the school. As his voice grew jumbled Eona had to admit, she was incredibly tired. She had no idea how she had healed Drexx and Dale, but it obviously took a lot out of her. She'd have to be careful in the future. She opened her eyes as he finished, smiling.
"I think so," she agreed, kicking off her sandals. They made a soft thump as each fell to the floor. She turned over, curling up on her side as he got up.
"Drexx...?" she called before he left, "Thank you again, for everything. Goodnight."
With that, Eona closed her eyes. Sleep was coming to her quickly, rushing over rather than creeping. Her body sunk into the mattress, her face softening and her breath deepening. She was asleep in minutes, the world around her fading away.
Eona dreamed often, remembering mostly. They were most often of a grassy plain with a willow tree dancing in the breeze. Nameless, faceless being floated around her, doing little more than taking up space in her dreams. They were always relatively quiet, the sound of the wind and soft mummers providing the only sound. She often wandered in her tree, though there was little else there but the willow tree and a large river that wound it's way through the plains.
Other times she would dream of a large, pure white temple on a large hill that over looked a sparkling ocean. Faceless people were there as well, doing nothing just like the others. She often dreamed of a man with golden hair and silver eyes with tattoos similar to her's in concept, but colored a burning orange and made to look like flames.
She dreamed of the temple tonight. The golden man and her walked along the beach, only the sound of waves lapping at the sand to be heard. It was a pleasant dream and as the sunlight warmed her face, she was almost sad to wake up.
Her eyes fluttered open, a yawn slipping out. It was morning, and Eona could already hear the hustle and bustle outside as Dale and Mia worked to get ready for the morning rush. Eona lay there for a moment more before sitting up, running a hand through her short teal hair. She felt much better than yesterday, stronger.

Orenji appeared in the center of some kind of shop, Orenji didn't know where he was he only knew that he saw drexx walk into here the other day. Orenji looked around to see an older couple behind the counter, both shocked and scared to see Orenji standing there.
"What are you? Why are you here? Just get what you want and leave." the old man said
"I am not here to hurt anyone I am only here looking Drexx I saw him come in here the other day. Have you seen him?" Orenji said taking steps away from teh man creating distance
The old man seemed to not believe waht Orenji was saying, he kept his mouth shut. Orenji knews that he should have just walked in the front door, but with people looking for "aliens" he had to stay hidden.
"Sir I am sorry for startling you and your wife i pressume, but like I said i am not here to hurt any of you. I am just here to tlak to Drexx, I know he is here." Orenji said starring at the old man
The women looked at Orenji "What do you want with Drexx? she said slowly approaching Orenji
"I was suppose to talk to him yesterday, but I saw him come in here with someone else. someone I didn't know and then heard nothing form him. I am just here to make sure nothing has happened, like I have said i am not here to hurt you I am a friend of Drexxs." Orenji said to the women
The women pointed behind Orenji and there was Drexx sitting down. Orenji looked back at the women and thanked her and again apologized for scarring them. The two slowly began to go back to work as Orenji sat down across from Drexx.
"Drexx what have you been doing here?" Orenji said waiting for Drexx to open his eyes.
